She arrived and got her things set up. There were targets for ranged combat, sparring areas for melee, and a few places to catch one's breath.
Vez used a needle rifle and plasma pistol. She was intimately familiar with both weapons, and was, to her moderate dismay, a better shooter then melee fighter.
She shook her head. She was getting better at fighting talon versus talon, and her skill at shooting wasn't something to be truly upset about.
Her needle rifle had been modified by herself. While not unheard of, doing so was rare. But, it wasn't like she had modified it extensively. She just upgraded the sights on it. From a 2x to a 5x. It helped she could switch between the two and any zoom in between.
She checked the rifle, making sure no one had messed with it, and got some ammo. She put in the crystal charge, and loaded the rifle. She went to the range portion and sighted in.

Her heart beat in anticipation, but she forcefully slowed herself. She knew her kind had a tendency to be... bloodthirsty. This, she had seen, could lead to mistakes.
She had sworn to not make those mistakes, and so she took bits and pieces from practices of the other troops she had seen. Some meditation from Senghili, stretches from her kin, and more besides. She acquired a target.
Though, she noted internally, she didn't always succeed. In the heat of the moment, calm was hard to find. She fired.
A pink Subanese crystal rocketed out of the front of the rifle. Down range, a target had a large protruding crystal from its body.
She rapid fired the rest of her ammo supply, and soon the target looked like a deformed kig yar. She smiled.
It was good shooting. She then took out her plasma pistol and started its practice. Practicing with it was far, far different then the rifle however.
She hipfired a few shots, striking the target 5 out of 6 times. She then aimed more and fired again. 6 out of 6. She grinned wider.
She switched to moving targets, first with rifle, then with pistol. When all was said and done, with her needle rifle, she had a 89% accuracy rating. 80% with the pistol.
In real life combat though, she knew those ratings were deceiving. People were people and things go wrong when two minds clash. She had seen it. Lived it.
But she knew that the next time she went planetside, she would reap a tally. She was looking forward to it.
