On the outskirts of the Underworld, in the wilderness.
Black Impermanence (Fan Wujiu) was swinging his black soul-hooking chain, trying to strangle a rampaging "Hell Knight." But against such a thick-skinned heavy unit, his chain was like trying to tickle it.
"Old Xie! Help me! This thing is too strong! I can't hold it!" Fan Wujiu was being dragged across the ground, his face nearly ground flat.
Nearby, White Impermanence (Xie Bi'an), tongue hanging out, was hitting the monster's head with his Mourning Stick until it nearly broke, but only managed to raise a few bumps.
"Old Fan! I can't help it! This monster's physical resistance is too high! My 'Get Rich at First Sight' curse isn't working!"
Just as the two were about to be counter-killed.
Zzzzt—Snap!
A blue electric arc accurately hit the Hell Knight in the back of the head.
The massive demon instantly went rigid, convulsed twice, and collapsed to the ground foaming at the mouth.
Daoist Singularity blew on the barrel of a peculiarly shaped pistol in his hand and walked out of the shadows.
"My lords, this kind of work requires the right tools."
Black and White Impermanence scrambled up, staring at the object in Singularity's hand: "Lord Singularity, what is this? Palm Thunder?"
Singularity tossed the gun to Black Impermanence.
It was a weapon reassembled from parts of a discarded shotgun Slayer threw away, combined with Lightning-Struck Wood.
The body was pitch black, engraved with white runes. Under the barrel hung a miniature soul-hooking chain launcher.

[Range: 50 meters.]
[Voltage: 100,000 Volts (with Soul Paralysis effect).]
[Ammo: Spiritual Power Battery (Rechargeable).]
"Try it?" Singularity raised an eyebrow.
Black Impermanence doubtfully raised the gun, aiming at a small imp rushing over from the distance.
He pulled the trigger.
Thwip—Zzzzt!
A miniature soul-hooking chain carrying blue electricity shot from the muzzle, instantly piercing the imp. Immediately after, high-voltage current was released.
The imp didn't even scream before it was electrocuted into a puff of black smoke, its soul automatically sucked into a soul storage canister on the gun.
Efficiency Increase: 1000%.
"Holy crap!" Black Impermanence (who was usually stern and unsmiling) couldn't help but swear. "This feels too good! So much better than my broken chain! Before, I had to strangle them forever, now one shot settles it?"
White Impermanence was envious: "Lord Singularity, what about mine?"
Singularity pulled out another white gun.
This one was longer, looking like a sniper rifle, with white paper strips (actually talismans) wrapped around the barrel.

[Effect: Upon hit, automatically releases 'High-Frequency Sound Waves' (Mourning Sound Effect), causing AOE mental damage.]
"Your Mourning Stick is melee, too dangerous." Singularity explained. "From now on, you set up and snipe from the back. As long as you hit, that crying sound will make demons within ten miles depressed enough to commit suicide."
White Impermanence took the gun, stroking the smooth barrel lovingly.
"Thank you, Lord! I'll go try it now!"
Two minutes later.
The style of Black and White Impermanence, who were originally being chased by demons, changed drastically.
Black Impermanence charged in front, dual-wielding tasers like the Two-Gun Granny (scratch that) Neo from The Matrix. Everywhere he passed, electric sparks flew, and demons fell convulsing.
White Impermanence camped on the high ground, one headshot per bullet. The demons that weren't dead yet heard the mournful "Mourning Sound Effect" and covered their ears, suffering mental breakdowns.
"Times have changed, my lords."
Singularity nodded in satisfaction watching these two Underworld agents having a blast.
He not only solved the Underworld's security problem but also conveniently cleaned up the pile of scrap metal (parts) left by Slayer.
"Cold Weapon vs Firearms."
When the traditional Soul Reapers put on modern tactical gear, the arrest rate in the Underworld skyrocketed.
"Except..." Singularity looked at White Impermanence's style of white robes paired with a sniper rifle. "Why does this art style look more and more like Agent 47?"
Whatever, as long as it works.
"Next chapter, time to solve that traffic problem everyone keeps complaining about—Yellow Springs Road is really too hard to walk on."
