Chapter 38: Crushing in the Mortar and Pestle Hell

Just leaving the Stone Press Hell, the tremors on the ground didn't weaken but became more rhythmic.

  Thud—Clang!

  Thud—Clang!

The sound was like a giant beating a drum; every strike made the heart tremble.

Tenth Layer: Mortar and Pestle Hell.

The sight was suffocating. Arranged on the ground were massive stone mortars over fifty meters in diameter. Hanging above them were equally massive stone pestles, driven by some invisible power, pounding up and down tirelessly.

The air was filled with a pink mist—blood and bone dust formed after ghosts and demons were pounded into pulp.

"Cough cough cough!" Daoist Singularity started coughing as soon as he entered. "This PM2.5 is definitely off the charts! It's all bone ash!"

Slayer, riding on the Bull Demon King, activated the air filtration system in his helmet.

  He looked at those mortars.

Inside were not only ghosts but also large amounts of demon corpses (fallen from the layers above, or pounded in this layer).

The bones of these demons were turned into extremely fine powder under the heavy blows of the stone pestles.

Analysis data popped up on Slayer's visor:

[Material Analysis: High-Purity Demon Bone Powder.]

[Ingredients: Sulfur, Phosphorus, Dark Energy Crystals.]

  [Flammability: Extremely High.]

[Explosive Power: 50 times that of TNT.]

  Slayer's eyes lit up.

This was the top-tier gunpowder raw material he was looking for.

But the guards of this hell layer obviously didn't want him to collect goods peacefully.

  "ROAR!!!"

A group of four-meter-tall "Hell Crushers" walked out from behind the mortars. Covered in heavy armor resembling rock, they carried massive warhammers.

The leading Crusher lifted a huge rock directly and hurled it at Slayer.

Slayer didn't make the Bull Demon King charge. The terrain here was too complex, full of deep pits (mortars), unfavorable for cavalry combat.

He patted the Bull Demon King, signaling it to standby on the side.

Slayer jumped off the bull's back and drew his Rocket Launcher.

  But he didn't shoot directly.

He glanced at the massive stone pestle falling overhead.

  Timing.

When the Crusher charged to the edge of a mortar.

  Slayer fired.

  Whoosh!

The rocket didn't hit the Crusher but the chain suspending the stone pestle.

  BOOM!

  The chain broke.

The massive stone pestle, originally moving rhythmically, lost its tension and fell in free fall.

Just as the Crusher rushed into the mortar, it looked up and saw only a growing shadow.

  THUD————!!!

  A muffled sound.

  The earth trembled violently.

That Hell Crusher, along with its heavy armor, was instantly smashed into a "specimen" less than a centimeter thick.

  Slayer walked over.

The pestle bounced up a little from the recoil.

Slayer saw a pile of glowing powder in the mortar.

That was the essence after thorough crushing.

He took out a special collection bag and began filling it with this powder.

  One bag... two bags...

Daoist Singularity wasn't idle either. Hiding in the distance, he directed a few tamed imps to help Slayer collect.

"Careful! Don't spill it! This is high-energy explosive! One spark and we'll all be blown sky-high!"

Just then, more Crushers surrounded them.

  Slayer didn't panic.

He grabbed a handful of the freshly collected bone powder, stuffed it into an empty grenade shell, and casually inserted a fuse.

Simple Version · Bone Powder Bomb.

He pulled the pin and threw it at the mob.

  KA-BOOM!!!

The power of this explosion exceeded everyone's expectations.

  A small mushroom cloud rose.

The Crushers surrounding them were blown away by the shockwave, their armor shattered. Even a few nearby mortars were cracked open.

"Holy crap!" Singularity hugged his head and scurried away. "This power is comparable to a micro-nuke! Big Hero, take it easy! Don't blow through this layer of Hell!"

Slayer looked at the still-smoking crater and nodded in satisfaction.

  This was right.

For the following time, the Mortar and Pestle Hell turned into Slayer's chemical plant.

He used the pestles here to crush demons, collected bone powder, and then made high-explosive grenades and rockets on-site.

  Sustaining war with war.

Until his ammo depot was full again.

Slayer remounted the Bull Demon King, who was shivering from the explosions.

He glanced at this layer of Hell filled with dust and roaring.

  "Execution vs Raw Material."

Tools used by demons for execution eventually became the assembly line for manufacturing weapons to destroy them.

"Demon Bone Powder, excellent gunpowder additive."

Singularity looked at the bag of glowing powder in his hand, carefully sealing it.

"Next chapter, Eleventh Layer: Blood Pool Hell. It's full of filthy blood there. Singularity says: This environmental pollution is too severe, need an eco-project—incidentally turn this blood water into Holy Water?"
