Aeltharia is a realm hallowed in magic and wonder, abiding ever beneath the holy gaze of The Goddess of Creation. From the world’s first dawning it was a dwelling shared by many races, yet of them all humankind waxed mightiest and most numerous. But in the fullness of years, greed and vanity crept into their hearts, and in childish striving they forgot the grace of life and the loveliness of the world. Not until the rising of demonkind, and the sundering wrought by The Cataclysm, did mankind, reborn as sanguines, learn wisdom through suffering, cherishing their lives anew in dignity, and uniting to forge The Seven Nations of Aeltharia, unto the year 2222 A.E.
Each realm was shaped by its own heritage, born of the land, the air, and the temper of its people. Their cultures, laws, and ways of governance differed greatly, yet all were founded upon a single purpose: to safeguard their kin and to build a haven of peace against the encroaching darkness of demons and monstrous kind. But such harmony was not won easily, for mankind and their blood-born descendants, the Sanguine, labored with steadfast will to stand apart from the grace of The Divine above. They sought to prove that mortals, though frail in body, could endure by their own strength when the hour should come that The Heavens themselves fall further into silence.
Thus do the Seven Nations labor in self-reliance, each striving to master its own perils and to govern its own affairs. Yet this does not mean they would withhold the hand of friendship, for when dark calamities arise, they will call upon their allies and upon the valor of The Knights of the Evernight. For in all things, the thought of mutual aid is held in honor; trade and craft are the lifeblood of plenty, sustaining both wealth and wisdom. And through fair commerce and faithful exchange, not only of goods but of knowledge and of magic, the realms of Aeltharia prosper in strength and understanding. For in unity abides their combined hope, and true peace endures everlasting.
The Renaissance, The Heroic Age, was what history would come to name the era that followed this long season of concord. In those lofty luminescent centuries, The Seven Nations flourished beyond mere survival, their cities rising like jewels upon the land and their banners carried far upon the winds of exploration. Great works of art and architecture adorned their realms, and the wisdom of sages spread from one end of Aeltharia to the other, binding distant peoples with shared purpose. It was an age when valor and learning walked hand in hand, and the deeds of heroes carved their memory into the very stones of time. And in their triumph, the world itself was reborn anew.
There and back again, daring adventurers and travelers would go, driven by unquenchable curiosity and the call of distant horizons. They would cross seas and deserts, scale mountains crowned with snow, and wander through forgotten ruins whispered of only in legend. Along their vast journeys, they would witness wonders beyond imagining, living cities carved into crystal cliffs, forests where ancient spirits yet spoke, and great realms where magic flowed like rivers through the veins of the earth. And in every footstep, they would weave new stories into the tapestry of the world, stories of courage, discovery, and longing that define those who dare to journey beyond home.

Once they set forth, there is no turning back, for they embark upon a pivotal journey that will forever change how they behold the world and all its many faces. As they pass from realm to realm, they behold lands that have grown far beyond the customs they once knew. In these foreign realms, the pillars of governance have been thoroughly reshaped, councils broadened, thrones tempered by assemblies, and magistrates chosen not by birthright alone but by wisdom and merit. Great civil services now rise, founded upon rigorous examinations, where scholars and seasoned stewards alike ascend to serve the common good. Bureaucracies are refined to weave justice and efficiency into daily life. Yet beyond such meticulously wrought order, from towering forums to majestic halls, travelers come to each land not merely for its lofty grandeur, but for the ideals and spirit it eternally and profoundly embodies.
Some among them would seek deeper mastery of the arcane, and their path would lead them to Thalethys, where ancient academies and sacred halls of sorcery welcome the eager and the gifted. There they would diligently study as apprentices, their knowledge growing until they rose as mighty sorcerers. Others would journey to Siyowaska, seeking wisdom in the sacred balance between nature and spirit, learning to walk in harmony with the wide world. Still others would voyage to Sha’nekht, where the Heart of Aeltharia beats with ceaseless trade, and travelers of many lands gather beneath its majestic markets to exchange goods, stories, and friendship before returning home.
Such journeys are made possible by the sharp vigilance of The Knights of the Evernight and the stouthearted guardians of law throughout the Seven Nations, whose long crusade has secured the safety of their people and of countless travelers. Though The Cataclysm has passed, its bitter scars still fester, for vile demons yet prowl, striking at the sanguine from light or from shadow, bringing sorrow in their wake. These sorrows drive many vampires into madness, for few can bear the weight of their loss. Yet the dark menace of such fell beings wanes with each passing age, diminished by the tireless strength and unyielding watch of the Knights who guard the world eternally.
Yet even so, adventurers and travelers are ever cautioned to remain vigilant upon the road, for neither law nor the vigilance of the courageous Knights can stand watch in all places at once. Still, few who wander are defenseless, for from earliest youth, every soul across the lands is trained in the ways of survival, in the wielding of sword and spell, in the discipline of tactics, and in the calling forth of their inner magic and mythic form. Thus, many are able to confront dangers unaided, holding the line until militias or wardens arrive to bring lasting order. And though dangers linger in every mysterious path, the desire to seek what lies beyond the familiar never fades. Countless travelers continue to depart their homelands, driven by endless wonder and unyielding curiosity, to explore a world vast and ancient, alive with secrets untold and realms awaiting deeper understanding with every new adventure.
