Behind a small podium atop a stage in the front of the courtyard stands Jermaine Lionsheart, the High Commander of the Knights, is announcing who has been selected to become a Knight

  "It seems we have quite a large group, this should be everyone we are expecting."

  "After careful review and inspection, we have chosen the seven new knights that we will be welcoming."

  Everyone seems to quiet at the sound of Jermaine's loud and assertive voice

  Jermaine then continues

  "First selection, Laura Lionsheart"

  A girl, who looks to be James' age, walks up to the stage from somewhere in the crowd, she seems to be nervous in front of the crowd but she wears a quiet smile of pride on her face

  Laura walks through a door behind Jermaine before he starts announcing again

  "Second selection, Aaron Blackwood"

  Aaron walks up to the stage confidently, a wide grin spreading his whole face as he goes through the door

  "Third selection, Darius Farrow"

  A tall man, who seems to be around James' age as well, walks confidently through the crowd, up to the stage, dark skin contrasting against the more pale stone bricks. He wears a proud smirk as he goes into the door

  "Fourth selection, Edwin Herve"

  A tall and bulky man, seemingly a couple years older than James with unkempt grey hair and a light stubble walks up to the podium, his expression unreadable as he goes through the door

  "Fifth, Aidan Berold"

  Aidan walks up to the podium, reddish-blonde hair gleaming in the heavy sun as he joyfully walks into the door

  "Sixth, Asha Armine"

  A short woman shuffles through the crowd and onto the stage, clearly not wanting any attention drawn to her

  James' expression goes from one of anticipation to one of despair, clearly having lost all hope of getting in

  Jermaine continues

  "And final selection, James-"

  The crowd had gotten too loud for him to make out his last name, but he knew exactly who was meant to be up there, James gleefully runs up to the stage and says to Jermaine

  "Thank you so much, sir"

  Before he walks into the door.

  Through the door is a small room with 4 benches

  On one bench sits Darius and Aaron, who are already getting along nicely. Aaron makes eye contact with James and smiles at him

  On another bench sits Aidan and Asha, neither talking, but Aidan glimpses at Asha every couple seconds just to make sure she's living

  On a different bench sits Edwin, staring blankly at the floor, clearly not wanting to be bothered

  This leaves one more bench to sit at, the one where Laura, who had been fiddling with her hair out of anxiety, is sitting

  James sits down next to Laura and says "So, your last name's Lionsheart, right?"

  Laura quietly nods before James asks another question

  "Any connection to the High Commander?"

  Laura speaks, light, quiet voice contrasting to Darius and Aaron's loud and deep voices

  "Yeah, he's my dad"

  James looks slightly amazed

  "Oh, that must be cool"

  The two sit in an awkward silence for a few minutes until Jermaine comes through the door

  Everyone quiets down immediately, Laura flashes a quick smile at him, which is quickly returned

  Jermaine then speaks

  "You seven are about to go through a multiple month long boot camp, your training will be led by four people"

  "Those four people include me, General Jonah, General Ferrul, and General Warren."

  "Does anyone have a question?"

  No one answers

  Jermaine then speaks again

  "Well then, all of you, follow me through this door"

  Each of them follow behind as the door opens up to a huge training field, along with the sight of their other 3 mentors.

  Jermaine speaks yet again

  "You seven will be given 3 days to adjust to your new situation, the barracks that you'll be staying in are on the opposite side of the training field to us, there are four rooms, each with two beds"

  "We have pre selected your pairings, which I will be telling you"

  "The pairings for the boys are as follows: Aaron and Darius, James and Aidan, and Edwin will be on his own through special request"

  "The two girls we have will be together in a room"

  Each of the pairings heads towards the barracks as the Sun looms above.
