Just a week after Rick spread the information about Gobbo Ball to the Chiefs, plenty of things were already in motion. More than a few meetings were held with him and his Chiefs regarding the rules and their thoughts, and every single thing was positive, making Rick a very happy Goblin. But it would still be a long way off before any sort of teams, arenas, let alone scheduled games were played.
But that was not what today was about. Today was about the central clan and the fact that it had been without a Chief for quite some time now. Honestly, that in itself was not a normal situation. Usually, the Goblins would not wait all that long to select a new Chief in the case of one perishing. In fact, the other Chiefs usually would not even have too much input. The clan themselves would select who they wanted to be led by.
Of course, reaching the sixth tier was a requirement, and that was the only scenario where there would be time spent waiting for a new Chief. But there would always be one. Maybe they were not quite at the sixth tier yet, but one of the generals would usually be very near by the time a Chief had perished.
But that was not the case now. There were definitely more than just one sixth tier Goblin in the central clan. With all of the fighting at the front, the events of the war, and the trainings in general that had happened since Rick arrived in the Dark Lands of Mir, more and more Goblins had advanced to new levels.
No, that was not the problem this time. It was not so much a problem as it was a request by not only the members of the central clan but the other twelve Chiefs who could help make decisions. All of them had a request, and that it was for Rick to accept them delaying the naming of the newest Chief of the central clan.
The reason for that was because they wanted to develop a new process, or better yet, a new ritual.
It would be during that ritual where Rick, as the reigning King of Goblins, would select a new Chief. Thankfully for him, the decision was already made, even though it was not announced to the masses. Lago, the current general of the central clan, the former brother of the now deceased Chief Galgo, and of course the uncle to Loruk, a member of the Royal Guard.
Rick, of course, had considered allowing Loruk the opportunity to succeed his father and become the future Chief of the central clan, but Loruk himself and even Commander Meegra persuaded him against such a decision. Both of them felt that the oath of joining the Royal Guard could not be broken for even that.

Of course Rick did not necessarily disagree, but he was not so out of touch that he would not be able to make an exception for Loruk to become the new Chief of the central clan. But he did not fight it since the man in question agreed with the notion that the oath of the Royal Guard could not be broken.
In fact, Rick even tried to give Loruk plenty of time off, but he rejected it, and Rick had no choice but to drop the matter.
Anyway, it was finally time to name the new Chief, since the Goblins had now finally created a proper ritual.
Rick was dressed in a brand new suit of armor since his last one was destroyed. After many fights within the Dark Lands of Mir with Tier Seven beasts and such, the armor made by Wala was still around, and while Rick loved it, he could agree that it was not necessarily ceremonial enough for the event. Nor was it like he could turn down the goodwill the clans gave to him by crafting him a brand new set of beautiful armor.
Anyway, he was in the middle of the central clan where the entirety of the clan and representatives outside of the Chiefs of other clans were present to bear witness as well. They had thought long and hard about whether all fourteen clans should gather for the ceremony, but ultimately the powers that be decided only the entirety of the clan who would be appointing a new chief needed to be present, while the other clans only needed to send witnesses.
Now, though it took them some time to finalize all the aspects of the ritual, it still ended up being quite simple. It would be ceremonial, and it would have massive importance to all the Goblins in Mir today and for years to come, but that did not mean it had to be overly complicated. Though there were still a few things that needed to happen that they implemented.
Most of it were in the words that would be spoken today before Rick met General Lago, the sixth tier Goblin who had been chosen to become the latest chief of the central clan. Rick walked up in front of him and then began speaking, not out of nerves or hesitation coloring his words, but only the firm and unshaken will of a king could be heard as he spoke.
“General Lago, you have been chosen to join my council of Chiefs and to take responsibility of the central clan. This means you will serve as my limb and ensure my will is spread throughout the central clan, not only that, their immediate well-being and their lives will rest on your shoulders.
“As this clan falls so do you. As this clan rises so do you.
“From this day forth, your hands and your feet and your blood will be tied to the livelihood of the central clan, and you will act as one of my Chiefs and help me to bring safety and prosperity to not just the central clan, but the whole Goblin race.
“Do you accept this oath, General Lago?”
"I DO, MY KING! FROM THIS DAY UNTIL MY LAST DAY, I WILL LEAD THE CENTRAL CLAN AS YOUR WILL DICTATES."
The general roared out his answer, much to the appreciation of Rick and all the Goblins in attendance.
“Good! You have knelt before me as a general. Now rise as one of my Chiefs.”
