One month later…
[THERE'S TWO OF THEM!!]
‘Yup, I see the bastards! Why the hell are there giant worms here?!’
“Meegra! Hold off the second one for 30 seconds!!!”
“Understood!!! Everyone else, hold the line!!! Group 5, sorry but back in the fight! You can rest afterwards!!”
Two massive Tier Six worms were squirming and roaring as they wiggled their way toward the Goblins.
They looked ghastly and truly monstrous. The only facial feature standing out on both of them was just a tunnel of a mouth filled with rows and rows of sharp teeth.
[I think it’s time to stop limiting yourself, Rick! Meegra can’t hold that off for even 30 seconds!]
‘Shit, I know!’
For the entire past month, Rick had been fighting with nothing but his physical prowess as a Tier Five Goblin King.
He knew full well that he had never received formal training on how to use the spear, so he would never claim to be an expert with it.
But there was no better teacher than real-world experience.
Something he had learned since the first time Jaba took him to hunt horned rabbits. But as he grew stronger and subsequently outgrew the forging abilities—or lack thereof—in his little tribe of Goblins, he wasn’t able to fight with a spear as often.
There was simply no way he was going to become a truly strong spear user without proper training—and worse, no chances to fight with one.
The situation was different now.
Chiefess Menga made the spear he now wielded, and it could more than stand up to all his power since it was made with Tier Six in mind. It was actually the strongest spear they could make in the Dark Lands of Mir.
There was no better time to perfect his craft, as he battled hordes of enemies every other day for the past month.
But in this current situation—with two massive Tier Six worms bearing down on them—there was simply no holding back anymore.
At least not completely.
Rick roused the mana in his body further, and a tsunami of ethereal green flames spread out almost immediately.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
It only took a few minutes for the entire battlefield to be doused in an ocean of green flames.
The wrathful flames of the Goblin King.
Weaker beasts burned to nothing almost immediately, while the stronger ones lasted a bit longer—but were burned all the same.
And when it came to the ones who could resist it, they were suddenly no match for the Royal Guards they were up against.
This was a feeling Loruk got to experience himself way back at the edge of the Iris River Plains, but that couldn’t compare to what he felt now.
And how could it?
Rick was only Tier Four at the time, and just a Royal Goblin.
That Rick could never compare to the King he now was.
His flames reflected that.
Loruk and the rest of the Royal Guard felt power like never before rushing through their veins, as all of their fatigue seemed to vanish into the wind, and a new vigor replaced it as they dove into the tide of burning enemies without mercy.
Commander Meegra herself was only taken aback for a brief moment before she took off toward her foe with a confidence matching her station as the Commander of the Royal Guards.
Her task was only to hold the worm for 30 seconds, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t try to kill it in the same time frame.
???
Five months later…
“Everyone retreat! Retreat now!!!!!!”
There was a lot of hesitation in the ranks of the Royal Guard as Rick barked his order to retreat.
Their entire job was to guard him against all enemies—no matter how weak or strong—yet here they were being told to retreat in the face of danger?
Not a single one of them wanted to disobey Rick, but this was one order they didn’t want to follow.
Unfortunately for them, Rick was having none of it.
His presence flooded out in a rush and crashed into the Royal Guards and even the ravenous beasts that joined them on the battlefield.
“RETREAT NOW!”
There was no room for arguments in that order, and every single Goblin within range of his voice felt a compelling deep within their soul forcing them to obey.
For a Goblin, there was no defying the Goblin King.
‘WHERE IS IT COMING FROM, VELORA?!’
[GIVE ME A MOMENT!]
…
‘VELORA!?!’
…
‘WHE—’
[UNDERGROUND!!!]
“RUKNAR!”
An invigorating feeling of power that seemed to come from a well that contained the strength of all the Goblin Kings before him rose up like a wall in the face of danger in Rick’s body.
He took off toward the location Velora hinted at before jumping up in the air as high as the power in his veins could empower him.
His spear held high above his head, and he roared out loudly—
A bellow that could be heard for more than a hundred miles.
“KHAAL’DREZ!!!!!!!!”
Immense power unlike anything the Goblins of the Dark Lands of Mir had ever seen gathered at the tip of Rick’s spear.
There was quite literally not a stronger attack that Rick could ever hope to produce being carried out right now.
This was it.
An attack that carried everything his entire body and soul could give.
The strongest skill, paired with the activation of Ruknar.
There was only one reason Rick would ever choose to not only force his Royal Guard to retreat, but also to attack with everything his body could hold.
A Tier Seven creature was making its entrance to the battlefield.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!
A massive explosion of green flames, flesh, mana, and ground rose up into the sky in a spectacular display of destruction.
But how could a Tier Seven be killed so easily?
There was a brief pause—then, out of nowhere, a mangled and disfigured claw shot out from the earth below.
Rick had already retreated a significant margin, as he had a feeling that wouldn’t be enough.
He then took an extremely deep breath and yelled as loud as his empowered state would allow him to.
“MY CHIEFS!!!!!! GATHER TO ME NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
