TLDR: Re-launch of the fiction on Feb 27. Faster schedule, better writing. Stonks.
So... What happened?:
This story did much better than I could hope for the first piece of writing I have ever shared and I decided to give it some additional polish, slightly changing the direction. Over the last weeks, what started as drop-in polish, ended up being about 95% new text over the first arc so far.
When all is done, I'd like to leave behind a story worth talking and thinking about.
It's hard to explain how much will change, but it will definitely be a lot, so I decided to pause writing new chapters for now and focus on the rewrite, as it might take me in a different direction than what we took so far.

At this point, I decided to change the title and the cover to better signal the long-term direction of the story. (I'll miss the old cover). Here's the current WIP, which turned out amazingly, if I do say so myself (and I do):
Now everyone can finaly see the predator's design.
The story will be more engaging from chapter to chapter. The magic system, while the same at the core, will be much better explained and all the characters will be explored with more depth, especially David. I always had a clear idea of the characters I wanted to write... but my inexperience often made them come across in ways I didn't intend. (David was never supposed to be so melodramatic.)
Aside from that, I will be working with a professional editor, so you should be able to expect much, much better writing quality from the relaunch :)
Technical stuff:
I am now about halfway through arc 1 of the rewrite and my editor takes over in mid-January. We are targeting Feb 27 for the relaunch. Once we go live, I’ll be moving to a 5 chapters per week schedule to get us back to where we were (and beyond) as quickly as possible. When the story goes live, I will post an update here.
Anyways, thanks for reading my story, I hope you will come back for the polished version and enjoy it as much as I am enjoying writing it so far.
