I wandered aimlessly on my way back to my dorm, Ariessa's screams echoing in my mind. Her pale face, Selvise's threats all came rushing like a giant wave washing away the pain I felt a moment ago. Something big was going to happen, and only Alyssa could help me stop it but her mere sight was a reminder of all the pain my family had to go through, the many possibilities that could've been had she not been there. My mind was all over the place.
"Hey Nara!" a voice screamed cutting through the silence, "You know yesterday..."
"I don't wanna know Feriona!"
"But its important..."
"Speak fast, and it better be important!"
Feriona was a chatterbox, Ariessa's elder sister.
"Ariessa left this letter for you, she said I should give it to you if anything happened to her, the way she spoke as if she knew that she wouldn't return..."
I grabbed the letter without hearing the rest of Feriona's chatter.
"Nara you really shouldn't be so hasty"
"I don't have time for you Feriona"
Without wasting much time I rushed back to my dorm and opened the letter, what I saw left me in shock.
Blank! The letter was completely blank, which triggered mixed emotions in me. I knew Ariessa was a prankster, but not like this. I turned the letter back and forth constantly but only disappointment found me.
"The first sun!" came a familiar voice, Alyssa, it was Alyssa.
I stared at her blankly for a few seconds before realisation hit me. She knew exactly what was happening yet she didn't want to tell us. My hands acted on their own, trapping her in its grasp, "Speak! How much do you know? What do you know?" my voice low and dangerous. She coughed, "S-S-She is c-com-coming!"
"Who?"
"S-Se-Selvi-se"
Her name made the rage in me bubble over the top threatening to spill. "How do you know that?" I growled.
"She's m-my my... "
"Your what?"
"My e-e-e," her voice began to fade, I barely heard her before she collapsed to the floor. Her weak, frail body lay before me, completely at my mercy.
This is it, the perfect chance to take revenge, to end her.
"Stop! This isn't right Nara!" a tiny voice in my head said.
I stood still, all the memories flashing before my eyes, my sister's helpless face, her innocent eyes... .
Yet something in me didn't want to kill her. The way her hair fell on her face made my stomach churn, a wave of nausea hit me.
Voluntarily I slit my wrist and held it at her mouth letting her drink each drop, slowly her eyes flickered open, she gave me a dark mysterious smile, her eyes shone. "Finally learning to serve your queen, huh Nora?" she mused. I laughed mirthlessly, "Don't think so highly of yourself Alyssa, I still hate you with everything I've got."
She smiled and ran a finger down my cheeks, slowly tracing the scar she left on my neck, "Still angry huh? I never meant to do it Nara...I just...just..."
"Just what? Let blood lust take over? Or let your ego overpower you?"
She scrunched her nose, "Nara someday you'll understand why I had to do what I did!"
"Yeah right!" I added sarcastically.

The scent of my blood filled the air, her eyes slowly dropping to my wrist, unwillingly I gave her my wrist.
She sucked eagerly, blood dripping from her mouth.
There was something about her that made me want to serve her against my will. I smiled slightly watching her drink of me like a hungry child. Slowly she met my gaze, she smiled provocatively, my anger slowly stirring but my desire overpowering, my desire to serve her.
"What have you done me, huh Alyssa?"
"You tell me Nara, what do you think I've done to you?"
"Nothing," I said, biting my lip seductively
"Then I've done nothing Nara," her voice low, a slow innocent smile forming on her lips.
Her fingers slowly tucking a strand of hair on my face behind my ear, "You have beautiful hair Nara."
Silence fell upon us, I looked into her eyes, an emotion slowly awakening, I felt my cheeks flush as she caressed my hair, tugging gently at ends. My breath caught as her hands slipped slowly from my hair to my back landing at my waist. She pulled me in slowly, her gaze never leaving mine, slowly she leaned in. I mirrored her actions, our lips millimetres apart.
"Hey Na...," Feriona's voice echoed through the air cutting sharply through the silence. Alyssa quickly dropped her hand of me, taking a few steps back, I gasped in shock.
Feriona's eyes widened in horror, she opened her mouth to say something but the words didn't come out.
"Why are you here?" I asked, my breath rapid.
"Just wanted to...tell you something," her voice filled with shock, "how is s-s-sh-sh-she here?" she asked, emphasising her words by pointing at Alyssa.
"We had to umm...talk."
"Ariessa mentioned something about reading the letter under the..."
"First sun!" I completed, interrupting her.
She looked at me aghast, "How do..."
"Alyssa told me!", I said, cutting her of again. "Oh!"
I nodded. "But what is the first sun?" Feriona asked, instinctively the both of us turned to Alyssa. She looked back at us, her eyes turning cold, the same old dark expression replacing the emotions I'd seen a few minutes ago.
"The first sun...," she said adding a dramatic pause ,"fall on the morning after the Witch's eclipse." and a heavy silence fell again.
"What's the Witch's eclipse?" I asked deciding to break the cold ice.
"Its the darkest night for all witches, the night when all her powers become null and void and Solitaires rule , that night when fire meets water..."
Once again an uncomfortable silence fell heavily upon us, one none of us dared to break.
We exchanged glances amongst ourselves until kit hit me.
"Why are you helping me Alyssa?"
She took a deep breath, "Because this is my village too Nara, you may not believe me but I care about you." I looked at her, innocence shining in her eyes for a mere second before it went back to its old expression, "all!"
"Really Alyssa?" came Feriona's chirpy voice, I could tell she had bought Alyssa's lie.
"But when exactly is the Witch's eclipse?"
"Two months from now."
"That's a long time..."
"Not really, two months..."
"FERIONA KEEP QUIET!"
Feriona lowered her gaze, tears falling slowly. "I'm sorry Feriona, it's just the pressure..."
I stepped closer to her, gently wiping her tears with my thumb. I couldn't wait for two months, Selvise could do anything in two minutes, her keeping quiet for two months was out of the question.
"But what's so special about that letter that Ariessa had to write it with the Nylix ink?"
"Selvise Injed!"
Feriona trembled at the mention of her name, so even she knew about Selvise Injed.
"How do you know Selvise Injed, Feriona?" Alyssa's booming voice came.
"Who doesn't know Selvise Injed in this village?"
"ME!" I answered sheepishly.
"Oh Nara, you-you really need to visit the ancient library with me next time" Feriona exclaimed, her tone mocking.
"Feriona, maybe you forgot she SERVES me!" Alyssa added, her voice assertive and defending.
Feriona nodded and bowed before her, "Sorry my lady."
"Alyssa, there's no need to be so rude!"
"I'm being rude? And what about her mocking you huh?"
"Aly-..."
"Don't Alyssa me, all your rage and disrespect is for me but what about her huh? Scold her as well," her voice childish, her eyes wide and glossy. I laughed and caressed her hair, "Oh Alyssa, you are tooo cute..."
She smiled and blushed slightly which brought me back to reality, she wasn't an innocent girl but a blood thirsty, home wrecking witch.
Alyssa's smile slowly faded, her expression unreadable. "By the way Alyssa..." Feriona asked hesitantly, "Why do you only drink Nara's blood?"
"It's none of your business Feriona!" Alyssa snapped.
Feriona looked indignant, pouting every time we turned to her for her input. "Feriona...Alyssa didn't mean it like that...she's just grumpy." I told her
Alyssa stared at us, envy flashing dominantly in her eyes. "I did mean it like that," she muttered under her breath, loud enough for only me to hear. Feriona giggled childishly, her smile beautiful and radiant which added to Alyssa's envy. I shot a quick warning glance at her, compelling her to fake a smile. "Nara, I should be going home now," Feriona said hastily and rushed back leaving me alone with Alyssa again. She smiled warmly, the same expression she had before Feriona came returned to her face, she took a few slow steps toward me, each step she took forward was a prompt for me to take two steps back. She smirked as my back hit the wall, she put her arms on the wall caging me between. "So where were we?" her voice low and seductive. I locked gazes with her, our breaths coming at the same rapid pace, the scent of blood floating in the air. That scent reminded me of the harsh reality, Alyssa is a witch, my sister's murderer. I pushed her hard, a gasp escaping her lips. "Nowhere!" my voice full of hate, "You should go back to your little kingdom!"
