Chapter 28 : A Beginning or the End

A nurse took out the baby with a lot of blood dripping from the womb, and the mother screamed. The man standing outside the room turned around. There was a silence, and all of the nurses ran out of the room screaming.

“What happened?” the man asked, but no nurse replied except that they all ran.

And the oldest nurse came out of the room holding the baby wrapped in a cloth completely. The man looked at the baby and then at the nurse,

“You have a son,” said the old nurse with a straight face

“That’s really good,” said the man with a wide smile as the tears rolled down from his eyes, “why did all the nurses run away? Are there any pests inside the room?” asked the man with concern, but the old nurse didn’t reply.

Then the man looked at the baby with a grin, “Why did you cover the baby’s face with the cloth?” and he moved his hand forward to remove the cloth from his face. But the old nurse quickly grabbed his hand, and the man looked at her with shock. “Are you sure?” asked the old nurse.

“Why not? He is my son,” said the man, and gradually removed the cloth and moved back after glancing at him, the whole body of the baby was covered with black scars.

The old nurse looked at him, “This baby is cursed by a Demon; kill him, or he’ll kill all of us.”

“I’m not going to kill my son,” said the man with teary eyes.

“Her mother fainted by just looking at him,” said the old nurse, “how are you supposed to raise him?”

“I don’t know, but I will not kill my son,” said the man with a cracking voice.

“he’s a monster, kill him for the good of all.” Said the old nurse.

The man snatched the baby from her hands, “No, I’m not.”

“Looks like you all have stopped fearing me,” said lord Yama, “you are all betraying me again and again, even after I granted you mercy so many times.”

“He was trying to sway us against you, lord Yama,” said the lord of Kalasutra, glancing at the lord of Tamisra, “he wanted us to never say anything about Ivaan, but we refused him, and we brought him directly to you.”

“Oh, please,” said lord Yama, “don’t behave like you were not involved in this.”

“At least our ruler is honest,” said the lord of Tamisra with a grin, facing lord Yama

“Think before you speak,” said Lord Yama, “I’m not saying anything doesn’t mean I’ve allowed this.”

“Apologies, Lord Yama,” the lord of Tamisra lowered his head.

“Lord Yama, I know that we did this all against your laws, and we are ashamed for that,” said the lord of Kalasutra, “but believe me all of the lords standing here, except this one for sure, we all are ready to correct our mistakes in any way possible so I request you from all lords to give us a chance.”

“Okay… if you insist, I give one chance to all of you to redeem yourselves,” said lord Yama, “bring back Ivaan and find where is lord of Krimisha is, and maybe then I will forgive you.”

“We will not disappoint you again,” said lord and started moving back and Lord Yama waved his hand.

“Are you all seeing this?” said the lord of Tamisra with a smile, standing away from all of the lords, “you are witnessing the god of mercy,” he said with a laugh.

“Looks like you have forgotten your place,” said lord Yama while glaring at him

“I forget? maybe it’s true that’s why I’m not able to recognize the man sitting on the throne, is he the same person, or someone else, or an imposter has replaced him.” Said the lord with a smirk.

“Mind your tongue, lord of Tamisra…” said lord Yama, “What do you think… where you will end up after saying all of this?”

“Not in heaven, I guess,” said the lord, “trust me, Lord Yama, I’ve been punishing souls in hell for a really long time, and I know where I will end up after this.”

“Still, you don’t fear…” said the lord Yama, “maybe because you have never faced it, but when you will face it, you’ll know…”

“I know that I’m going to get tortured in the most atrocious way possible,” said the lord

“Atrocious…” said the lord Yama with a laugh, “it is a very short word for what I’m going to do to you.”

“Does it matter?” said the lord, “You may pretend to be just…but you are the most biased person present in the room.”

“Keep counting, it’s going to come back 10 folds” said Lord Yama

“I don’t need to,” said the lord, “I will speak… because I want all present in the court to listen to what their ruler really is.”

“I admire your boldness, lord,” said lord Yama, “but you directed it the wrong way, at the wrong place, and the wrong time. While being held for something you did wrong, so much wrong I can’t forgive.

“What do you think, lord Yama, your twisted words will change the perspective of others?” asked the lord

“No, I think my actions will be enough,” said Lord Yama, “Take him away and make him remember that he’s standing in hell where wrong and cruel are punished.”

Yamadutas picked him up and took him outside of court.

“And you…lords,” said Lord Yama. “Get on the work of finding Lord of Krimisha and Ivaan, and remember my forgiveness depends on it after all you all were defying me for quite a sometime.”

“And for all of that sire, we are really sorry,” said the lord standing in the midst of other lords

“It is not your sorry I want,” said lord Yama, “I want lord of Krimisha and Ivaan, here in my court.”

“And they will be here, sire,” said the lord of Kalasutra, “however, I have a doubt.”

  “And what is that?”

“Who will punish the souls in our hells when we are away from here?” asked the lord

“Well, there are many people who are capable of such work,” said lord Yama with a smirk, “you see, you all are not so hard to replace.”

“We understand sire” said the lord, “and we can promise you that we truly value your forgiveness…”

“Don’t thank me for something…I haven’t given you,” said lord Yama, “besides, if you think that you can persuade or sway me by your words, then I will like you to know that millions have tried and failed. I’m lord of all hells and all of you, remember that.”

“Understood, sire,” said the lord, and all of the lords left the court at once without wasting another second.

Lord of the Krimisha was sitting on a throne when a messenger came and handed him a message folded in a tiny paper tied by a strong thread. He opened it, read the message, and gave a big smile while all the people around him were eager to know the news.

The time has come, I’ve waited for this for a long time, and I even doubted it. Ivaan, finally, you have been reborn on earth. I can’t tell you how happy I am to know this. After all, I’m going to get my sweet revenge on you.

“What’s the message sire.” Asked one of his followers standing right beside him

“Ivaan is not present in hell…which means.”

  “Which means…?” asked the follower.

“Which means he has been reborn on earth again,” said lord Yama with a smile.

“But isn’t he a threat to us, sire?”

“He has just been born,” said the lord, “what do you think a baby can do to a lord of hell?”

“I don’t know much sire” said the follower, “but I don’t think you should underestimate your enemies.”

Lord of Krimisha gritted his teeth. He snapped his finger, and all the flesh got snatched away from his body, and only a skeleton stood beside him. “Indeed,” said the lord.

The mother was holding the baby while observing his body covered with full of black scars. Her husband came and sat beside her.

“Is our son really a monster?” she asked sobbing, “Are all those things that people say about our son are going to be true?”

“They are just people, and people talk about the things which they don’t understand and make false assumptions,” said the husband

“Are you sure…?” she asked, “Tell me the truth, when you first saw your son, what did you think about him? Tell me honestly.”

“Yes…he looked like a monster.” Said the husband, “But later I realized he is my son, whatever he is, he is our own son.”

“What if all the people who talk about him…are right,” she said, “that he will be the reason for the death of all people. What do you think?”

“I really don’t know what he is gonna do, I don’t know what is his fate including ours and the whole village’s” he said, “I’m a simple man but I do know one thing, we cannot punish someone for something which they haven’t done, our child is innocent and I’m not going to kill him just because of some foolish gossip.”

“And these scars?” she asked, “what do you think of them, aren’t they resembling something evil to you?”

“How can scars define someone’s nature?” he said, “Some of the greatest warriors receive many scars while doing battle for something good and great, what if these scars are not any curse but a blessing in disguise?”
