I’ll wait here until I retrieve the crystal. She is going to hand me over, and after that, I will think of how to get rid of her without any problem because I’m feeling like she is soon going to become my headache, which I don’t want.
She was waiting in the armory in search of the right opportunity to get into the building, but the guards at the entrance were not moving at all.
I’ve to do something fast, the patrolling guards will return soon, and after that, I will not even get the chance to escape, and there will be no possibility of stealing the crystal.
“Ok, this is enough,” she took out the sleeping dart and fired it by targeting the guard who was the farthest from the building.
The dart struck the guard, and he fell on the ground unconscious. The guard patrolling nearby saw this, he ran towards him, and the guards standing at the entrance of the building also saw this.
“Should we help him?” asked the guard
“No, you go, I’ll stay here,” said the other guard
The first guard rushed towards the unconscious guard while the other one stayed at the entrance.
Damn it, it didn’t happen as I thought it would. Now there’s only one guard left at the entrance of the building, and it’s the best chance I have, to get into the building.
She slowly started coming out of the door of the building, but as she came out of the door, the sound of soldiers marching echoed around the place, so she quickly ran inside the building and hid in the same place again.
She peeked through the door while hiding behind the wall. 3 queues of soldiers stopped in front of the building. The soldiers saw the unconscious guard lying on the ground while two guards were trying to lift him up.
“What happened here?” asked one of the guards standing in front of the queue
“Everything’s okay,” said the guard standing at the entrance of the building
“It doesn’t seem ok,” said the guard standing in the queue
“Everything’s fine, that guard could have fallen unconscious because of his sickness, he’s been sick for the last three days,” said the guard, “after taking rest, he will be perfectly fine”.
“Okay,” said the guard standing in the queue
The guard who went to the unconscious guard from the entrance came towards them, “All of you are very irresponsible”.
“And why is that?” asked the guard standing in the queue, “because we patrol and don’t stand at places doing nothing.” All the guards started laughing.
“It’s because you all went for patrol like fools without thinking that there is no one at the armory,” said the guard
“Is it true?” asked the guard from the queue
“Yes, it is,” said the guard
“Half of you, go into the armory and check if everything is okay or not?” said the guard standing in front of the queue.
Half of the guards marched towards the armory.
Oh shit! So many guards are coming here, I can no longer hide in this place, but where will I go? There are only two doors. One is at the back where few guards are present, and at this door, so many guards are coming here, there’s no way out of this building, but if I don’t go out of here, then I’ll get caught.
She saw the stairs behind her; the guards were also approaching the door, so she quickly climbed the stairs and went to the first floor. She saw a shelf where shields were hanging, and she ran and hid behind the shelf.
All the guards started searching the ground floor; there were noises coming from downstairs of picking and placing the weapons.
Hiding here is of no use; when they will come upstairs, they will catch me. I need to distract them to escape from here, but I have to distract and escape simultaneously, which usually needs two people: one distracts and the other escapes. How can I do both?
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
She glanced all around, and she spotted a cart filled with coal and a torch hanging on the wall.
Looks like I found a way to distract them.
She quickly took out the torch hanging on the wall, grabbed the cart, and started pushing the cart towards the stairs while holding the torch in one hand. When she reached the stairs, she stopped and put the torch above the coal to heat it up.
I didn’t think about escape. After distracting them, how will I escape?
She let go of the cart and glanced down from a nearby window.
The height is too much, I can’t jump from here without having any support, or else it can injure my leg.
She quickly glanced all around again, and she spotted some ropes lying on the floor. She smirked and quickly rushed towards the cart and started pushing it again towards the stairs. Just before the stairs, she stopped and peeked downstairs and found no guard.
She grabbed the rope and tied it to the handle of the cart, facing just opposite the stairs, while the front of the cart was facing towards the stairs, and tied the other end of the rope around her waist. She picked two big hammers and placed them in front of the cart wheels.
She glanced downstairs again, and still there were no guards,
“Let’s check upstairs,” a guard said, and all the guards started moving towards the stairs. She caught the sound of footsteps of guards approaching the stairs. There was a window just behind the stairs where the front of the cart was facing. She stood in front of the window facing away, the coal in the cart was already on fire due to the torch above it, and she jumped from the window while grabbing the rope.
As she jumped out of the window facing away, the rope pulled the cart, but the wheels got stuck because of the big hammers placed in front, and the cart got bent towards the stairs, and all the coal on fire fell on the stairs. The rope attached to her waist pulled her towards the wall, and she planted her feet firmly on the wall. The whole staircase started to burn,
“Fire! Fire! Fire!” all the guards started shouting, the guards standing in front of the king’s treasury, and the patrolling guards caught the voices of the guards shouting, and all of them ran towards the armory.
She quickly untied the rope around her while standing on the wall and landed on the ground. She ran and hid behind the corner of the building, and saw the guards standing at the entrance of the king’s treasury were coming towards the building running.
She waited. When the guards entered the armory, she ran towards the building of the king’s treasury and entered it. When she entered the building, she found a long corridor lit by the candles placed on the stands.
This is looking so beautiful!!!! Me and Ivaan will have the same corridor at our home; how beautiful it will be!!! I can’t imagine!!! Focus! Focus! This is not the time to get distracted. I have reached inside the building, and now I have to steal the crystal without anyone knowing.
She took out the sword from her sheath, and she slowly moved forward in the corridor. The corridor had a sharp turn towards the right, and she was getting closer and closer to the corner. The sound of the footsteps of a guard echoed in the corridor; by the sound, she understood that the guard was coming towards that corner from the other side.
She hid at the corner in such a way that the guard will not be able to see her from other side, there was a candle stand placed at the corner of that corridor, she crouched to hide behind the candle stand and turned her face away from that side so that he will not be able to spot her.
The guard reached the corner and turned around in the direction where she was hiding. He started to walk in her direction, and he wasn’t able to spot her. When he crossed her, she hit him on his head with the back side of her sword, and he fell unconscious on the ground.
That was a stressful one. Maybe he will have the key to open the king’s treasury.
She frisked his body and found a key hiding under his belt.
Found it!! I knew that he could have the key. Now I have to distract the guards and enter the king’s treasury, that’s it.
She stood up, but by mistake the guard’s unconscious body moved, and the stand on the corner of the corridor fell, and the guards standing on the other side of the corridor saw the stand falling and they became alert.
Shit!! That shouldn’t have happened.
Both the guards standing on the other side of the corridor started to walk in the direction of the stand, she quickly took out a black cloth from her bag and shook it. A pigeon appeared from the cloth and flew towards the corridor of guards approaching.
“It’s just a pigeon,” said the guard standing in the front when he saw the pigeon flying.
“I got alerted because of your reaction,” said the other guard, “you overreact so much”.
“Don’t blame me, I don’t control you; it was your own perception”.
“Yeah, whatever,” and they went back to the places where they were standing.
Thank God, that was a close call.
Someone placed a sword on her neck from behind.
Should have considered looking behind also.
She turned around, and a guard was standing there, holding the sword to her neck.
“I have met many thieves like you,” he said, “now give me the key so maybe you will not die for this”.
She clenched her fists and put them behind her.
“Looks like you will not understand easily,” he tried to pull her hand from back, forcefully pulled her one hand out from back, and opened the fist, but he didn’t find anything.
“Give me the key,” he said and pulled her another hand from back, he opened her fist, but this time a smoke emerged from her hand and he fell unconscious.
“Sorry, but you haven’t met thieves like me,” she frisked him also in the hope of finding something valuable, but she found nothing.
Now I just have to distract the guards standing on the king’s treasury, and then my way will be clear.
