“Speak, what’s the news?” said the lord, “You have already interrupted my quality time, and this it should better not be about other people’s suffering, I’ve grown tired of it.”
“Lord, we have found the place where Yaan has taken rebirth,” said the spy
“That’s good news,” the lord chucked by grabbing his shoulders, “never been so happy in months.”
“So, what do we have to do now, lord?”
“I thought I’d already cleared that before,” said the lord, “You’ll kill Yaan.”
“To know more about him, Sire, I set more people to spy on him,”
“And what did you find?” asked the lord, “Is he planning on his revenge?”
“Nothing, sire, I found nothing,” said the follower, “on the contrary, he doesn’t go out of the village even though he is an adult now, and neither does he have any memory of his past. So, it is safe to say, sire, that he is no longer a threat to you.”
“Are you absolutely sure about this information?” asked the lord
“Certainly, sire.”
“Still…he needs to die,” said the lord
“But sire…he has no memory of the past; we are sure of it.”
“So what? I can’t take a risk,” said the lord, “his fate sealed the day he betrayed me; he’ll die.”
“But, sire…”
“Did you forget who you follow?” said the lord
“You sire.”
“Me” said the lord, “then do what I say to you, no question, or have you started caring about others?”
“No, sire.”
“Then kill him and bring me his head.”
“As you wish, sire,” said the spy, and he walked off.
Earon was roaming around the forest.
“Yaan told me that his friend lives in the forest, but till now I have found no sign of any living person here,” said Earon, “maybe his house is a little far away from the village, considering he doesn’t like to meet and talk to people.”
I don’t understand why Yaan didn’t want me to meet his friend. He has never done this before, is it because his friend doesn’t like to meet people, or there’s something else. Anyway, I’ll soon get to know after meeting his friend. I hope he will not be wild. I don’t have any weapon, if he attacked me, then I would not be able to protect myself.
As he kept walking, the evening turned into the night, and he found himself out of the forest.
Where is his house? I searched this whole part of forest. Did Yaan lie to me about him, or did I pick the wrong direction?
Stolen story; please report.
He again went into the forest to search the house of Yaan’s friend, but to his regret, he found nothing. Yaan lied to me about his house; one way or the other, he has to tell where he went and from whom he took the cure.
Earon went to Yaan’s home.
Her mother opened the door, “Oh, Earon, why have you come here so late at night? Is there any problem?”
“No, everything is good,” said Earon while entering the home, “where is Yaan, I haven’t seen him for two days.”
“Oh, you wouldn’t believe it.” Said his mother with a smile
“What wouldn’t I believe?” asked Earon
“Usually Yaan doesn’t stay at home,” said his mother, “but from the last two days, he hasn’t moved out of his room.” She said, “I think finally he understood what we keep trying to make him understand.”
“Of course,” said Earon with a smile, “he has grown, hasn’t he?”
“Yes, I hope,” She said, “he stays that way”
“Well, where is he?” asked Earon
“Oh, he is still in his room,” she said, “as I said, he hasn’t left his room.”
Earon went to his room and knocked. Yaan was reading the grimoire when he heard the knock on the door, he quickly kept his book below his mattress and opened the door.
“Oh, uncle,” said Yaan, “I didn’t know that you were coming to visit so late at night.”
“When did you ever get to know” said Earon while entering the room, he locked the door behind him.
“Why are you locking the door uncle?” asked Yaan
“Because I don’t want your mother to beat the shit out of you before I do it,” said Earon
“What??” said Yaan, “What did I do?”
“Oh, don’t play smart with your uncle,” said Earon with a smirk, “now tell me where you find the cure to heal that old man.”
“I already told you, uncle,” said Yaan, “My friend who lives in the forest gave me the cure.”
“Oh, your friend, whom I haven’t met, who lives in the forest and doesn’t like to talk to people.”
“Yes, that one.”
“Stop lying…Yaan” said Earon, “I searched the whole forest, I’ve been doing this for two days, and I haven’t found anyone living in the forest, now tell me who gave you the cure.”
Yaan startled, but he didn’t say anything.
“What are you hiding, Yaan?” asked Earon, “Do you remember what I told you, secrets have a cost”.
They started hearing noises from outside.
“What’s happening” asked Yaan. Earon glanced at him, and both of them went out of the room instantly. When they got out, they found Yaan’s mother talking to the crowd of people. Yaan’s mother looked back and said, “There he is.” All the crowd rushed toward them.
For a moment, Yaan felt they are coming for him, but instead they turned towards to his uncle.
“Please save my daughter,” said the old man standing in front of the crowd.
“What do you mean? If she is having any problem, then take her to the Medicus,” said Earon
“She doesn’t have any health or physical problem,” said the old man, “she is possessed by a spirit.”
Earon’s eyes got wide, but he remained silent.
“You can save her Earon” said the old man, “we all have heard of your adventures and your extensive knowledge of supernatural, please...help her!”
Earon looked at him and then at Yaan.
“Earon, I think she is possessed by a preta,” said a man standing at the right side of the old man.
“No, she is possessed by a Pishacha,” interrupted another man standing on the left.
“Please wait outside, I’m coming,” said Earon, and everyone went outside.
“Please don’t go, uncle,” said Yaan, moving toward Earon, “don’t put yourself in danger, these village people are selfish, even if you help them, they will forget, and will never be seen at need.”
“Yaan is right, Earon” said Vaanya, “don’t help them, you know how they behave toward Yaan, they are not good, so don’t put yourself in danger for them.”
“You are right…” said Earon while glancing at Vaanya, “but tell me…the girl who is possessed, what she has to do with the deeds of them, why should she suffer for their deeds.”
“That’s not your concern…just don’t help,” said Yaan’s mother.
“Of course, it’s my concern, I am available, and I can help her. If I don’t, then it is me who caused her death… so I will go.” Said Earon
“No, you won’t,” said Yaan’s mother. Yaan saw tears in Earon’s eyes
“Mother…” said Yaan while pulling her hand, “you can go, uncle, but I will also come.”
“Okay… but you stay at a distance from that girl,” said Earon, “spirits can easily attach themselves to another body”.
“As you say, uncle,” said Yaan, Earon went outside the house, and Yaan went into his room, put the grimoire in his bag, and took it with him.
As both Yaan, Earon, and the crowd reached outside the house of the old man, they heard the screams of the girl. All of them ran and entered in the house, they spotted big cuts on her legs and hands.
