Chapter 127 - Tree Tour

There was plenty of open space between the kitchen and living room, though in between both, a hallway branched off into stairs. Like the living room, the kitchen was an empty husk of different shades of wood. The tree house had no way to replicate any technological devices from Earth. This made the entire room a place with plenty of cabinets, drawers, and a long counter with nothing on or in them. The counter did have a sink that Tesilim knew brought in water from the tree's surroundings. And thankfully, though the magical item was limited in a sense, it was still able to regulate temperature.

This meant that the odd wooden faucet of the kitchen or any other faucet had hot and cold options to choose from. It also meant that the inside of the tree, along with every room, could be modified to be cooler or warmer. Currently, Tesilim had made the inside of the tree house slightly cooler than the outside, which helped refresh everyone. Sadly, the temperature control didn’t extend to allowing anything remotely close to a stove’s heat. So, Tesilim knew that, just as with the living room, where he planned to buy books and other items to fill the space, he would need to purchase cooking plates and similar items.

Jasmine eventually joined them in the kitchen, and Tesilim decided to leave Alyx behind to do his probing. The gnome had stopped caring about the TV and was now poking and probing the tree with various tools Tesilim had never seen him use before, and he personally cared little for what they did. Now, with most of the group in tow, Tesilim began the final tour of the tree house, having already explained some of its features as the party explored the kitchen and living room.

“While I was configuring the rooms, I figured it was best to go with something simple for now. Luckily, the tree house is rather adjustable, and you will all be able to edit your rooms to one degree or another.”

As he talked, the party moved down the hallway, going up a relatively short flight of stairs connected to another straight hallway. This new hallway had seven doors, three on either side and one at the end. Each door was about six feet apart and had name plates on the right indicating where they led.

“Right now, each room is basically the same, and as you can see, they are named for each of you. Here, let's go to Rose’s,” Tesilim said as he opened the first room on his right.

The room was rather average-sized but definitely bigger than the semi-closet she had back at her temple. If she had to say, it was almost as large as the living room, but not quite there. It had a large bed and a nightstand with a small plant growing on it and a small vine dangling from it.

There was also a study desk with a basic but cushioned wooden chair and a sofa with orange leaf-colored cushions that reminded her of fall leaves. In fact, her whole room looked like the colors of autumn and sunset had splashed inside.

Rose’s room also smelled nice and sweet, as if someone had just baked a pie within, and a large orange fruit bathed the place in warm sunny light. There was also a dresser with drawers and a mirror, both made of incredibly polished wood. Finally, there was a small window that clearly showed the outside world, and the most out-of-place thing: a door that, to anyone’s guess, was a closet.

Tesilim had given everyone a moment to take in the room, but eventually continued with his current tour guide voice, “So, as you can see, I have tried to tailor everyone’s room to them. You can change the arrangement of furniture and other things like temperature or light levels with your will since you are partially connected to the house and your room.”

Hearing that last bit, Rose scrunched up her face in concentration as she willed for the fruit light on the ceiling to dim, and was surprised that it did so after a second or two had passed. Having confirmed it worked and Tesilim wasn’t trying to pull a prank on her, she continued listening to the elf.

“Sadly, the space of the room cannot be changed until I take down the tree and bring it back up. Also, though you can have the window block incoming light, you cannot move it. On that note, you guys have windows that are oddly specified to a location on the tree’s body where your room is theoretically located. Not sure how that works.”

Naturally, everyone had scattered to check out the room, including Alyx, who had joined them during Tesilim’s tour speech. The gnome wasn’t worried about the room itself and was instead probing everything matching Drex’s ongoing inspection. The drake had been rather silent so far, happy to listen, smell, and stick his head into every possible spot. It was almost like he expected something to randomly pop up.

“I like it. The coloring is a bit on the nose and a bit much, but I can’t complain. This bed is wonderful,” Rose said while sprawled on her bed.

“I like the window idea. It is very nice to see the outside world and doesn’t feel as claustrophobic as Alyx’s room,” Tesilim heard Lili say as she looked out the small window.

If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

“Uh, Tesilim, why does this room lead to my room?” Jasmine asked, getting everyone else's attention as she stood halfway through the extra doorway.

“Well, I figured you and Rose would like the idea. Don’t worry, though; the door is lockable by both parties and can’t be opened unless both have it unlocked,” Tesilim quickly explained, making his way over to the half-elf.

“It is kind of nice; I just wasn’t expecting it,” The twin replied, fully entering the room.

Jasmine’s room was identical to Rose’s, except Tesilim had colored it in a more vibrant tone. The entire room felt like spring had hit it with a truck, which was what the elf had wanted for his happy teammate. Of course, he would change it to something else with Arelion, but Jasmine seemed to like the aesthetic for the time being.

After everyone inspected Jasmine’s room, they left through the main door, entering the hallway again and going across to Tesilim’s room. His room was larger than Rose’s and Jasmine’s since he actually intended to have stuff in it long-term. To this end, it had a proper closet and a bigger bed, with the hopes of sharing it with a certain someone. Aside from this, he had the same desk, drawers, and everything else. As for his color scheme, he had light yellow walls, purple carpets, and normal-ish wooden floors. His bed and other furniture weren’t special and had a varnished look. Additionally, there was another small door closer to the ground, which Drex quickly went into. On the other side of this door, Drex found a simple room with a comfy bed.

One of the biggest similarities between his and the other two ladies’ rooms was another similar door, which he confidently opened. This door led directly to Lili’s room and worked the same way as Rose’s and Jasmine’s did. The reason for the door was obvious, and everyone went into his girlfriend's room.

Lili’s room was one with a few other deviations from the norm. For one, Tesilim had given the elf various shelves for her potions or ingredients, along with another room. This additional room was half the size of her main room but contained even more shelves. It also had a sink and counter with wooden creations that could hold beakers. There were also hooks for coats, aprons, and other things on the wall. Finally, the room had another small window, but more importantly, a small stasis cabinet similar to the one in the kitchen, which acted like a fridge.

Tesilim loved the wide-eyed look on Lili's face as she checked out her new alchemy lab. He also felt something stir up when she turned that look at him, making him feel like a piece of fresh meat. Everyone else didn’t miss the look and quickly left the lab.

Not caring whether anyone saw them or not, Lili made her way over to him and gave him a big kiss while also grabbing his elf hood through his pants as she whispered something in his ear that made him blush.

After the display of affection, they all left her room and finally checked out Alyx’s room. The gnome’s room was, of course, blueish-tinged, which differed from the white, green, and lilac colors of Lili’s room. His buddy’s room was also fairly normal aside from a few shelves for any books he wanted to store. More importantly, it held no extra doors since there was no need for them, though it did have a much larger study desk.

Moving on from the gnome’s room, the party went to the room Tesilim had designated as the Training Room. The room was massive, and Tesilim had attempted to copy Jolly’s exercise room, but he had only achieved some success. For one, he couldn’t really conjure weights, though thankfully, he was able to make a rather large pool. Either way, what mattered was space, and it was about the size of a baseball field. It had a nice, well-kept lawn, but the roof and trees were the two things that stuck out the most.

The roof held a display of the outside sky while also projecting its own light. This meant Tesilim could enjoy a nighttime sky without being in the dark. As for the trees, well, the magical item had a way for its residents to feed themselves, and it came in the way of fruit trees. Each tree produced a separate type of fruit, many of which Tesilim had assigned. He had apples, peaches, mangos, pineapples, and melons, all, sometimes oddly, growing from trees.

Once they—except for Drex—had all eaten their fill of fruit and enjoyed the outdoors inside, Tesilim finally showed them the last room. The room was marked as the bathroom, and when they opened the door, they entered a very simple room with three doors. Two of the doors had the classical signs bathrooms had on Earth, identifying them as either for ladies or gentlemen. Inside these two rooms were wooden versions of Earth bathrooms, complete with all their amenities.

The final and central door had a sign with a picture of a shower head. Entering the room, the party found what amounted to large cubicles about ten feet wide. Each cubicle had a large bathtub that Tesilim had designed to function like a jacuzzi. However, each cubicle also had showers poking from the walls to allow everyone to take showers as well. Of course, it went without saying that the entire room was made of wood, albeit with different touches and coloring to make the place feel fancy and clean. There were also plants that gave off sweet aromas, but more importantly, there was plenty of lawn carpet to absorb water. Not that it was needed since the entire place was a magical item and would basically keep itself clean.

Some of the last amenities Tesilim added were hooks, bars, and small shelves inside the closed-off cubicles, allowing everyone to store their belongings and clothes. Additionally, each cubicle had a small area outside of the bathtub where one could undress or dry off.

Out of everything, the best part was that each cubicle was its own space. This meant the fruit providing the light could be changed by the cubicle user to set the mood. It also meant that each cubicle was soundproof and could even play nature-like sounds to help those bathing relax. Naturally, each of their bedrooms was also soundproof, something Tesilim knew he would put to good use later that night.
