Tears of god - Volume 1 end

"Hmmm." Mumbling nonsense, Gino typed on the computer to file a report on the finding of the black glue murders.

"That's curious." He said to himself.

The murders were certainly interesting. People around a certain city were dying with mysterious black glue like liquid on their face. The most worrying part was that flesh monsters were found near the victims. These monsters could potentially destroy the life of a couple of families if left.

Thankfully, Winston was there when it happened and managed to eradicate the monster before it went on a rampage.

Rubbing his temples, he sat there, looking at the screen blankly for a few seconds before resuming his work. His fingers blazed keyboards as they traveled at incredible speed.

The noises of clicking flooded his ears as he slowly started to get tired. He looked at the time only to see that it was only 15 minutes after he started working.

Shaking his head, he started typing again. However, his mind started to feel more tired every single second he was awake until he dozed out for a couple seconds.

Waking up again, he instantly jumped from his chair and got into a fighting stance. He knew this weakness he was feeling was an attack of some sort due to the nature of it. He checked his office for any traces of Versation but it was to no avail.

That was until he checked his shoulder.

There was a thin thread around his shoulder that extended to the window and beyond. The intensity of the thread started going up rapidly as Gino grabbed a firearm under his desk before shooting at the window.

The window broke as a man suddenly jumped in while trying not to be in the bullet's path and kicked Gino midair. Gino blocked the kick with his shoulder before getting bashed on the wall.

He didn't suffer any damage as the walls were supposed to protect anyone that smashed into it, however he was still left temporarily stunned by the attack.

Punching him, Gino ducked down and let the fist hit the wall, lunging at him, he smashed his knee into his chest. The attack was supposed to leave him on his knees but Gino's power seems to be halved and his mind was still extremely tired.

He knew he had to end it quickly or it'll end badly for him.

The attacker quickly launched another attack to which Gino pushed to the side before counter attacking to the chin and following up with a knee strike to the stomach.

Backing up, the attacker rubbed his chin and stared at Gino with intense hatred. Seeing this, Gino smiled and proceeded to taunt him by sticking his tongue out.

His expression shifted as he clenched his fists before moving his fingers rapidly. Unfortunately for him, Gino was gonna let him use his Versile in front of him as he suppressed it a little with his Versile.

Gino's Versile was a mix of mind and the space domain. His mundane power was to suppress the thinking capacity of an individual, which in turn made a person think more stupidly around him.

His Uncoiled power upgraded his suppression by extending it to Versile ability. This power was the main reason he was able to climb to a high ranking. Not that he wanted to stay there as he demoted himself to here.

His overlapped ability was quite similar to the effect of Lent's barrier as it allows him to protect a person or a group in an area other than himself. However, he had managed to find different approach to using his Versile to the point of his Overlapped Versile being more than protecting someone.

He raised his gun and shot a few bullets at his chest. A familiar scene entered Gino's mind as the attacks missed him by a small margin due to an unknown force. Observing it, he noticed that there were multiple threads around the bullets when he missed.

Realizing that the bullets are ineffective, he switched to a more aggressive attack as he shot him once more before grabbing him by the neck. However, it was just an attempt as the attacker dodged to the side and punched him with full force.

Feeling the power of an Overlapped and having fatigue from the Versile attack, he fell down before getting knocked out for a few seconds and by the time he woke up, the attacker was already gone.

He pressed his arm against the ground and tried to stand up, but he could only barely.

Using the walls as a support, he got out of his office to check if anything had been taken, especially the classified files.

'He's gonna be mad.' Gino thought as he looked at the opened door to the armoury.

It was called the armoury but it was more than that, there were multiple locked lockers of classified files and he doesn't even have the keys to some of them.

Looking inside, there were a couple lockers opened with some files still inside them.

The attacker seems to have searched his body for the keys and took them with him.

As for why he didn't kill him, he had no idea but he wasn't trying to find the answer for it.

He touched his shoulder to sense the thread before releasing a pulse of suppression to the general area.

Just as he did this, he immediately tried to stop but it was too late as the pulse was already released. He slapped his forehead with his right hand, as his left hand was pressing against the wall before sighing deeply.

  He had made a mistake.

He could have traced the attacker with the thread but his impatientness got in the way of logical thinking.

He wasn't too worried about it though, every mistake was a learning experience for him. He was certain he wouldn't make the same mistake next time.

Looking back at the armoury, he decided to lock the lockers that still had the files inside.

  Slammed!

He stopped what he was planning to do and instantly took out his gun before aiming it at the entrance.

The person entering, raised their hands as Gino looked properly and chuckled a little as he saw the outfit and realized who it was.

  It was Julo.

He got up to him and looked sideways at the opened armoury.

"What happened?" He asked as he looked back at him.

"An attack. Don't worry, I've got it covered. We just need to get out of here." He replied only for Julo to look closely at him.

Gino waited for his reply and touched the area Julo was looking at, feeling a liquid, he had the realization that his nose was bleeding.

"Let's just go." Julo nodded and supported him.

Gino slowly walked towards the exit and looked at the armoury once more. Unexpectedly, his vision of the armoury was seemingly blurry for some reason.

Thinking he needed glasses, he looked again only to see the same results.

Julo stared at him before looking at the direction Gino was looking at. Of course, the armoury was fully visible for him.

Only when the fifth second passed, Gino noticed something.

  It was another white thread.

  ***

"Why did you accept him? He even has a phobia of explosions and has a PTSD for it too! This is the worst phobia to have for a job like this."

"Look man. I don't know the will of the higher ups.

  .............

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the procedure.

"Do we really need to do it?"

"We don't want another incident happening!"

"Now what will you do in case an individual who is stronger than you, asks for a key to three classified lockers?"

"We'll give them the keys and get out of the building."

  "Why?"

"Because the building has an automatic file security system that will explode if three lockers are opened at the same time without authorization."

  "Gre........"

  ***

The sound of his supervisor faded away as he clenched his fist and charged all of his power into it.

Julo saw his hand glow blue before getting hit in the chest.

Strangely enough, he didn't feel any pain as his entire body glowed in blue.

Before he had time to process what was happening, a powerful explosion emerged from within the armoury as blazing red flames entered his view.

Reacting to it, Julo instinctively crouched and covered his head while he was making strange noises.

His legs were shaking more than before as he felt the heavy rain pouring onto him.

His shaking eyes looked around to see the entire building on the ground before looking at Gino beside him.

Bits of his body were spread apart as pieces of his face were charcoaled beyond recognition.

The position his body was in was unholy as it was nowhere a human should be in.

Looking at it intensely, Julo's eyes shaken rapidly as he looked around at the collapsed building.

People were mangled all around the ground with some of them, he recognized.

There was Gio that said hi to him everytime he went upstairs. There was Rio, a sister of Gio that didn't greet him the same way but still tried. There was Topo that wanted to be an actual detective.

Staring at their states, he managed to wheeze out something but it was inaudible.

That's when someone dashed towards Julo from the corner of his eye.

He didn't have time to react due to the shock he was experiencing.

Fortunately or unfortunately, the attack only broke a few bones in his right shoulder.

Finally coming to his senses, he looked at the person attacking.

The person was using a dagger to attack and it broke some of his bones due to the force. Julo took out his gun from his pocket but the speed was much slower than usual.

The attacker knocked the gun out of his hands and attacked again.

Luckily, Julo managed to block it but it still hurt a lot as the dagger penetrated his hands.

The gun beside him, suddenly moved and shot the person attacking.

Julo looked at it, confused on why it shot without doing anything before hearing a familiar female voice.

  "It's me."

The attacker, who was shot in the leg, tried to get up but Julo was already aiming them down and shooting.

His aim was considerably more terrible but a few bullets managed to hit them.

Bleeding, Julo aimed the gun at their hand only to see a group of people running at him from a distance.

Julo tried to think logically but it was to no avail.

At last, he turned around and ran straight in the opposite direction.

He could hear them catching up before feeling someone touching his shoulder.

Acting out of fear and reflexes, he instantly turned around and shot the person behind when he realized that it wasn't from the group.

It was an innocent fast school boy trying to catch up. His face was full of disbelief as he looked at Julo, intensely.

Julo's eyes opened as he caught the boy.

"I-I'm so-sorry." His voice was full of sorrow and fury.

That's when he saw the actual group catching up to him. Fearing for his life, he had no choice but to drop the corpse and kept on running.

He was faster than the group but his stamina was slowly running out.

Looking ahead, he saw a ship that was going to depart in a few hours.

Seeing a person, running towards it, he had to take the ticket from the person as he quickly knocked him out. He struggled for a while before passing out.

With that done, he ran towards the harbor as he showed the ticket and his fake Versile I.D he got from Travestita that changed its information based on the owner's info.

Fortunately, the security wasn't too tight and he was able to get through.

"He went here right?" He could hear the people chasing behind him as he quickly searched for his room.

"Do you know what he looked like? The rain was blocking my view."

"No idea, we can use the information we have though."

"Hey, I think that's him right there."

Julo's heart dropped as he found his room before quickly hiding in it.

"Who are you, guys?" He could hear the commotions from outside.

"Don't act dumb, come with us."

  "Wha-what?! I don't know any of you!"

"It's definitely him. The description checks out."

He laid down on the bed as the group took the wrong people, he felt horrible at his actions.

Thinking of Gino dying in front of his eyes, his friends dying in the same building that his mom died in with the same cause of death, killing an innocent person, possibly ruining the life of two people while being useless in all of these situations, he pressed the pillow against his face as he wanted to scream.

But he was worried they might find out.

Putting his gun on the table beside his bed, he hesitated. He reached for the gun again, this time, using his power to make the gun have a one in ninth chance to shoot and aimed it up his temple.

  Click

  It didn't trigger.

He put it down with no intent to pick it up again, he closed his eyes and slept unknowingly. He opened his eyes to the bright sun before realizing that he was gonna be late for work.

  ...

  He remembered.

He looked at the spider beside his bed, that was usually in front of his face as he curled up in a ball.

"In a matter of a couple minutes huh." He mumbled.

Volume 1, Tears of God has ended.
