The two sat in a small room on the sed floor, set up for medical exams fuild members once a month and, luckily, or perhaps not so lucky as phe Curist currently doing the check-ups was Curist apprentice Jensa. So at least Peter khe person doing the exam.
“So… what happened?” She asked, cheg out Glenawyn’s ears first, at Peter’s insistence, using an otosuch like Peter remembered from the other world. “I… just touched the mana-sb…” Peter blushed, “Then it went boom. After we stopped the majority of the ringing in our ears we came here… which I o do for the exam for the application… then I remembered I knew a healing spell.” “You know a healing spell? Iing.” Jensa nodded. He nodded as well, “I heal. If that’s a spell or just a general ability…” He shrugged, “Either way, I stopped the ringing.” “Looks good to me.” She said, putting the cap into a tray to be washed and sterilized; getting a one for her patient, “Your turn.” “Right.” He sighed, looking over to Glenawyn, who hadn’t moved to leave after being given a bill of health, “I’m really, really sorry.” “It’s alright.” She held up a k of the mana-sb that she had been looking over, “I just… I’ve never seen that happen before.” “Great.” He sighed, tilting his head to one side for Jensa, “I didn’t think ohousand and six would break the meter, but then again I don’t know how you measure athyrik resonance.” “Oh, it’s upside down…” She said, turning it around to show him.Peter balked, “Please be joking.” “I’m not.” Glenawyn shrugged, resting her hands in her p. “Holy, I have no idea why they included the numerical read-out. You , absolutely, tell what element or sphere or whatever, a person is attuo. But you ’t really put a number on how deeply they’re attuo it. You ’t measure that sort of strength because it ge suddenly and drastically.” Jensa moved over to the other ear and looked, “Mm. Looks good. You did well with the healing magic.” She said, “I’d be careful though…” “I was warned about healing magid the Church Luminous.” Peter nodded, “I’ll be careful.” “Yeah. It’s a big ensurance mess getting healing from an uered, unapproved healer or curist.” The attendant sighed, swinging her feet as she looked around. “Ensurance…” Peter groahe word. “Oh, sure.” Jensa nodded, “I don’t know if you had these on your world but here there’s panies of people who work as middlemeween the people, the gover, and curists or healers, as well as others, to ensure safe practices, among other things.”Peter winced, “I am… familiar with the cept.” “Thankfully there’s a robust set of “well-meaning by-stander” ws and legal cuses.” Jensa assured him with a pat on the shoulder. “Not that I’d try to take you to a Court or anything.” Glenawyn also gave her assuranbsp; “Thankfully. I wouldn’t even know where to begin in legal proceedings…” He muttered, Save, maybe, pray to the God of Order and Justice…
Jensa grinned, “Okay!” She cpped her hands together, “Now the fun part!” She wiggled her fingers, “Your medical exam!” “Oh yay~” Peter, dryly, answered, not at all enthused.Pointing to the door she giggled, “Okay, you—” She o Glenawyn, “Outskie! Gotta give him privad all.” “On my way.” She blushed, though did ly rush out, “Don’t have too much fun!” She waved, grinning.Shutting the door she face-palmed, bonking her head on the door, Don’t have too much fun? Gods, Glen…Jensa chuckled as Glenawy, looking to Peter, “Now, you…” She said, motioning at him from head to toe, “Disrobe, please.” She paused, “All the way.” She wiggled a fiowards the area between his waist and knees. “W-What?” Peter stammered, flushing, as he pulled his shirt off while kig off his shoes. She clopped around on her hooves, ing up aing the ools she needed ready, “This is for the Guild Applicatiht? But I thought it would also be a good idea to get your basieral check-up done.” “That is…fair… but… why…”She put on a pair of soft-looking gloves, “I have to make sure about your baseline for everything.” She paused, “Also, there is a pact, between Curist and Patient. Anything you share with me is between us…” “On the old world… we call that ‘doctor-patient fidentiality’.” Peter nodded, “I appreciate that.” He sighed, undoing his pants as his cheeks got darker. “Of course.” Jensa nodded, “I know it might be embarrassing, but I promise to be professional, ale.” She said, “Now, Do you know if you’re allergic to anything?” She asked, pulling out her own file and started filling things out. “I assure you I am not allergic to anything.” He nodded, “I wasn’t in my old life and I’m not here.” “I’m guessing whichever of the Family whht you told you that?” She asked. “I, ah…”She smiled, “Remember what I said at the pub? We see athyrik aura… Yours is strong, to to be a Champion if you ask me.” She owards the door, “Never mind you blew up a mana-sb.” “Yeah, I… ~that~ was an act~…” Peter blushed. “Likely you don’t know how to trol your aura pulse. You let out a pulse of your aura to get that thing to read it, right?”Peter nodded. “Too much all at once.” Jensa nodded, setting down her pen and the file, “Something to practice.” “Right.” He agreed.Jensa looked up at him from her papers, “Everyone has trouble with that wheart learning athyrik trol, and that’s people who grew up on a world with magic.” She expined, “So someone ing in from outside…”Peter nodded. “I’m just surprised that whoever brought you in didn’t help you with that…” Jensa frowhinkier sighed, “At my request.” “Why… would you request not knowing something…” Jensa asked, looking up with a curious and fused gnbsp; “Well, I didn’t want to raise any sort of arm from the one who summoned me.”Jensa blinked again, “Wait… so someone summoned you…” “But one of the Family ‘interfered’, yes. And I didn’t want the one who summoned me to know that. For personal reasons… for safety.” “That… sounds like something I don’t want to be a part of…” Jensa admitted, “Oh, don’t worry. I’ll still give you the check-up for the Adventurer’s application.” She assured, “And, of course, Curist-Patient fidentiality, as you say.” “I appreciate that.” Peter nodded, “Thank you.”Jensa motioo him, “Small-clothes too, remember.” She set her papers down, turning to her tools, “Let’s start with your temperature…” “Right.” Peter sighed and did as she asked. “Oh!” Jensa had, of course, turned back around right as his small-clothes pooled around his ankles.“…” He coughed, moving his hands self-sciously, “That bad?”
“Hell No!”The sudden voice from the door startled Peter and Jensa both and they spun to fully face Glenawyn who had poked her head in and was, at the moment, blushed full-face red. “Oh! Sorry!” She apologized and she did mean it… sort-of.She would admit that getting a full view of the fairly attractive half-human was not worth pining about… but she did feel bad she seemed to embarrass him. “Did you need something?” Jensa asked in a serious tone, moving to stand in front of Peter as he went to pull his small-clothes up. “Yes! Sorry.” She apologized, meaningfully, even as she leaned a little trying to peek around Jensa, “I was able to grab someoo set you up with a proctor and a sparring parto test against.”Jensa leaned with Glenawyn, keepier blocked, crossing her arms and harrumphing, “You should have knocked.” “I know! I’m sorry, really.” She genuinely apologized, “I just wao inform Peytr about it as soon as possible.” “I appreciate that.” Peter, finally, got his shorts pulled up, still half-hiding behind Jensa, “Anything else?” “Ah… no.” Glenawyn flushed, finally looking down, “Again, sorry, I just wao tell yht away.” “Don’t stress it, I uand.” Peter said, his cheeks burning warm, his ears too, “You still good to chat after my sparring match-ssh-fighting skill assessment?”That perked her up quickly, “Oh?” She nodded, for some reason blushing darker, “Oh! Yes, sure!” “I’ll see you then.” Peter smiled, nodding to her. With a loud cck the door shut, makier jump.Jensa only looked at him, down at his small clothes, and nodded. “Ugh.” Peter sighed a his shorts drop again.
