The versation after that was odd, for everyone I expect. Well, everyone except Carmil who just accepted me however I was with a smile. She said that she only ever knew Esme, so whatever or whoever I was before didn’t matter to her unless it mattered to me. I don’t know that I deserve her.
I was asked a number of questions about Earth, but mostly they just wao make sure I was okay. The cept of the i absolutely fused them all, but when I expi to Wen as, “Imagine you had a book that you could ask for any recipe ever, including hundreds of variations on it, at any time,” and she suddenly, desperately wa to exist here.
Dekarru made sure I wasn’t overwhelmed and limited the questions, then after an hour turhe versation towards the diplomatic efforts.
The Uvtrayl Envoy arrived via a military airship escorted by roc riders from Mother’s Teeth. Which I regret missing deeply. A bunch of badass orcs riding tamed giant monster birds? That must have been an incredible sight. The group that arrived was bigger than expected, twenty two people for the envoy’s logistical and diplomatic efforts and ahirty for the ship’s crew.
The talks went well, especially with Dekarru and Henna there as representatives for their respective sides. They got along well and that cheered me greatly. They also flirted a lot, which also cheered me, but if an uandably different way.
The Uvtrayl gover had given Henna a pretty hefty amount of authority to make decisions and deals, though there was someone else in the Envoy that could overrule her, said person arently staying on the sidelines and promised to not get directly involved unless required. The general refused to talk to me about this person other than they were someone she trusted, and I trusted Henna so I let the matter drop for the time being.
Some details still o be hammered out, but we had every reason to believe that the alliance was just a few days away from being formalized. Something that seemed absurdly fast to me from the viewpoint of Earth’s political processes, but Willow Creek really hated red tape and Uvtrayl had been after this for years so they were both willing and eager to jump over a lot of the bureaucraally involved.
Oher end of things was the Pitrak envoy, who were shocked and nervous when Elder Layanta came to greet them evehey were still disguised as a mert caravan. Of course, the warm wele and invitation to begin talks for an alliaweehree nations helped them rex.
The first surprise of it was that the ‘gifts’ Mary had spoken of were apparently people. Not sves, thank the gods. Volunteers from a number of aricraft pahat had e to offer their services to Willow Creek as a means to show us how serious they were about peace. It was a huge step forward for cooperation to be ho. Willow Creek was very much behind our neighbors on the magical teology and this much assistan helping us catch up was incredibly well received.
The big shocker though? In addition to the ambassador who came to live in Beaver Valley and do the job long term, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Pitrak was with the envoy as well. He’d e with his family as an olive branch, a way of saying ‘we trust you to not take advantage of us while we show you our throats’.
The talks with them were slow and awkward, Pitrak’s info oraditionally oration and its peoples was clearly filled with Imperial propaganda. But they did seem to aowledge the problem was on their end, allowing the talks tress well as they learhe two were informed of the other’s presend missions iy after a few hours of talks, making sure that they were both well dug in already before the reveal. The day would be a meetiween them both and I got the distinct feeling I would be there even if I wasn’t invited.
I y against Henna, Luvetra behind me, Jaina and Carmil on the general’s other side, a pile of love in a yurt rapidly losing the extra room it once had. I smiled as I drifted off, having a good idea about what was going to happen tonight.
The Dream roiled and thuhe dreams of the people nearby were eiight. I wasn’t surprised at all, a lot was happening so stress was high.
Daisy ran up to me and gave me a big hug with her trunk, behind her were at least thirty more baku rushing to various dreams. She squeaked at me tiredly. “Wow, lots of nightmares in the area, huh?” She nodded before she leaned against me, taking a moment to rest as I applied pets to my overworked dream buddy. “Must be real bad ooo if so many of you are out.”
She wiggled and swurunk as she squealed and grunted. “War nightmares especially, yeah. I think both sides brought veteran soldiers as guards. I’m sorry Daisy, I wish I could help.”
A head tilt and wriggle of her trunk asked me a question. “Yeah, I’m pretty sure Vei’Ryn is waiting for me. If I’m right about some things, tomorrow is going to be a big day. Oh! Henna is here now, we had to talk about a bunportant and crazy things, like Lietri and Dani and the alliaalks, but tomorrow I’ll ask her about that officer to see if we help her out.”
Daisy danced around happily. She’d never been able to help someoside the Dream before so she was really excited about it. I leaned in to give her a forehead smooch while applying some scritches behind the ears before I had to head off again. The attention having perked her up enough to eagerly rush bato nomming bad dreams.
Moments ter I was stepping through the barrier into the bubble and ying my eyes upon the pink fuzzy explosion that was Vei’Ryn’s little . Things looked different this time, the floor was more… real? Less dream like, less of an idea of a floor and more an actual floor with soft pink carpet now. There were also more plush chairs, a new poofy couch, and a coffee table that looked like it came from a 1970’s modern art gallery. All weird angles and a wiggly stand.
“Goddess?” I called out as I looked around for her.
I felt her impact me from behind right as I heard her happy cheer. “SAINT! Oh my goooooosh! She prayed to me!” I heard Vei’Ryn practically yell in my ear as she draped herself over my back.
“Who did?” I asked as I carefully turo face her. An act that got my face peppered with little kisses as a result.
“Jaina! She prayed to me! She wao ask me to be good for her people. She seems to think we’re going to step into the pce where the Uvtrayl gods once were. I wonder where she could have gotten that idea?” The sarcasm dripped from her like a badly leaking faucet.
I rolled my eyes. “Oh e on, it wasn’t that hard to figure out. I would have o not be paying attention to miss it.”
She pouted. “You know, I am a Dream Goddess, you at least pretend I’m doing a good job of being vague and mysterious.”
I smirked at her and shrugged. “I imagihat to people who aren’t your Saint, you very much are.” I kissed her nose and she giggled and swatted me. “Oh, you got some worship! Is that why the pce looks more… uh… real?”
She let me go and floated back towards the new couch. “Sort of? Its more that the prayer accelerated my recovery.” My fusion had to have been visible, she sighed and expined. “Okay so Saints, like you, are a big deal. Do you know why?”
I took a moment to sider the question. She wasn’t just asking why they were important individuals, that much was obvious to me. “It costs you something to make one. Power? A piece of yourself maybe? That could be why The Green Mother hasn’t made another Saint, even though it looked like Dekarru’s line was going to end.”
“Ding ding ding! We have a winner!” She cpped and spun in the air gleefully. “Yes! Saints have a literal piece of their god in them. It takes a while for us to recover and our ability to dodly duties during that period is notably reduced. Thankfully for me, I don’t have many of said duties yet so it was a worthwhile sacrifice.” Theurned and gave me a sultry look. “You are so damned smart. Did I ever tell you that intellect is a huge turn on for me?”
I felt my words cat my throat for a moment as she ran her eyes over me. It felt quite odd aside from just being slightly awkward flirting with a goddess that I was still irely happy with. More happy than not, but still there were feelings for me to gh.
Thankfully, a new voice saved me fr to respond. “You say it to me every time you wao spread my legs. Brat.”
I turowards the voice, readying myself for the onsught of divine infinity that I knew was about to overload my mortal mind.
She was a hand held out to help me stand, a stinging switch ay leg to correct my stance, and the wise words of one who’d traveled my path long before I was born. She was a freshly printed book that still carried the st of ink and an old tomb with a dozen dog ears that smelled of dust. She was a muiding her daughter’s hand through a traditional family recipe and a gray haired old man giving a lecture on a topily a few would ever fully uand. She was a scroll that held knowledge ohought lost and a novel produced ihousands that every school child was forced to read. She was a library with doors wide open, staff eager and smiling and helpful and always knowily where the book you’re after is, with the names of other books you might want to try on their lips at a moment’s notice. She was a hammer, smashing the lo a private colle, a camera taking pictures to copy every page kept hidden from the world, and a printing press pumping out copies by the huo send to every er of the world. She sang songs to teach children their colors and screamed for the crowd to demand the secrets and lies stop. She was the parent, the teacher, the textbook, the story passed down feions, all telling us to op using our minds. op learning and spreading what we learn. Never let knowledge be hoarded or hidden.
I shuddered as she came into focus. Paper white hair rolled bato a bun that looked not unlike a scroll. Soft tan skin, like the pages of a well loved book that you’re been reading for years. Pink crystals, early round with hundreds of facets in pce of her eyes, shining with a subdued brilliance. She wore a thin bck robe that came nearly to her bare feet, a robe that was pletely open a her body fully exposed to me. She had a wide motherly figure, all soft curves ara padding that came off as extremely MILFy and had me staring with a stupid grin before I realized it.
She chuckled and stepped over, her hand reag out and her finger pressing under my to lift my gaze to her eyes. “Now that is a rea a woman get used to. Though I am afraid we don’t have time to py tonight, and even if we did I think my dear sweet Dreamer would want you to herself at first.”
I cleared my throat. “Ah, Juriel wasn’t kidding, your entire pantheon is perverts.”
The goddess ughed and nodded. “Very much so, but not enough to be sex gods. Though teically Vei dear t as one if she has to.”
My Goddess snickered and draped her arms over her lover’s shoulders from behind. “Esme, my dear wonderful Saint, meet The Mentor.”
The Mentor smiled at me. “Goddess of Knowledge and Teag, Una’yato Tanvarash. I know, it’s a mouthful, you just call me Una. Much easier to scream that out during climax after all.”
I allowed myself a small ugh before rec. “I thought you were the most shameless of the lot My Goddess, apparently I was wrong.”
Vei’Ryn grinned. “Una is a picky fuck about her partners, but once she’s happy with one, she’s a giant slut for them.”
Faux offense and an over-dramatic gasp overcame The Mentor. “I am merely affeate to those I love!”
“Yeah, blowing someone as a way of saying hi is just affeate. Got it.”
I cleared my throat. “As much as I would love to see where this is going, and sincerely I would, I believe you have pns for me tomorrow?”
Una raised a brow and gave her love a look of mild annoyance. “You already told her?”
The Dreamer smirked and poked Una’s nose. “Not at all, I told you she was smart.
“No kidding, maybe she should have been my Saint instead.” Una swung her arm in a light swat to Vei’Ryn’s rear, far mrope than spank however.
“Focus, please?” I spoke up, fighting the grin that threateo grow as I watched these two’s iions.
Una nodded. “Of course, my pn.”
Vei swung a hand down to Una’s ass in a sharp spank that echoed in the bubble and made the oddess jump and hiss. “OUR, pn.”
“Fine! OUR pn. Fuck that stings you twat.” The Mentor rubbed her rear and frowned.
I bit my lip and shook my head. “ I guess? I bet you wao reveal you all during the meetiweewo sides tomorrow and ask to go back to Uvtrayl to talk to the priesthood there about switg to you.”
“… she definitely should have been my Saint, she’s too smart for you.”
Vei’Ryn sighed. “You find one yourself soon enough.”
I nearly jumped as I remembered something important. “Oh! My mana geion is fug horrible, is that-”
Una answered the question before I fi. “Soul tai, yes. Mana flows from, or rather through the soul and only a little is able to trickle out. We hadn’t sidered that when we made it, too much to fret over and too little time. If we’d had another hour we would have figured it out and tried to build in a workaround, but…” She gave me a look of deep sorrow.
I tested my fate just a bit by reag out and giving her hand a squeeze. “I know, you were trying to survive and scared and desperate. I’m still kind of want to scream at you all, but less than I did. More than I will tomorrow I suspect.”
Una gave a small smile and squeezed my hand iurn. “Well, I suppose that means you get more leeway than we would normally give a mortal.”
“You’re damn right it does.” I told her directly, which made her chuckle lightly. “ht, there is ohing I don’t uand at all though. Why me? Or, Dani I guess. Why grab a soul from airely different world to transport here and shove it into a body instead of a native soul, or even a living native person?”
Una rubbed the bridge of her nose and took a slow breath before responding. “So, I ’t give much detail on this, god rules and all. But the dumbed-down and allowed for mortals expnation is that we couldn’t access this world permaly otherwise. You , under certain ditions, kinda pop into other worlds briefly, but ’t stay without a link, there are beings that would stop us if we tried. We did not have a link here so we made one by exploiting a loophole.”
“Wait, you all are from Earth? You seem pretty different than what gods are described like there.”
Vei’Ryically shook her head, her eyes wide. “Oh fuo, the gods situation oh is a fug catastrophe. Our home world is a mess but not THAT bad.”
“What does that-, no. I think I’m happier not knowing that much. But once again, why Earth?”
Una made a face of disfort. “Well we couldn’t use a soul from our world, that would have drawn attention we couldn’t afford to deal with at the time. So we used one from Earth. And to answer your question, I have a link to Earth and as a member of this pantheon, that means we all do. And to answer your question because I know you have that ooo, one of my fathers is Onoruh Anahis. He was a refugee from Earth a long time ago. You’d probably know him as Anhur, he was aian god of war.”
I stared at her for several long moments, letting that sink in as silence huween us. “Oh,” is all I mao speak for a time.
Una tilted her head “Not gonna ask about the ‘one of my fathers’ part?”
I gave her a simple shrug. “I kinda doubt biology matters to gods, if you even have biology. For all I know you’re just like, energy or something. Ideas made ma.”
The Mentor stared at Vei’Ryn. “I’m gonna steal her.”
The Dreamer snickered. “No, you ’t, she’s mine.”
“I’m gonna though.”
Suddenly my Goddess was o me draggiongue up my cheek. “Nope! I licked her, that means she’s mine!”
“I’ve licked you plenty!” Una’s face was a mask of false anger draped over pure happiness. Also more than a little arousal.
“But I licked my Saint first so that’s a perma cim!” Vei’Ryn giggled cheerfully.
“She’s a brilliant pervert, that’s my whole thing. She should be my Saint.” The oddess said with hands on her hips.
“Ahhh, but first and foremost, she’s a dreamer. She sees how things be better and strives for it. She looks at the world and sees it as it should be, as it COULD be with work, and then she works towards that ge. She’s mine, even more than we could have thought.” The Dreamer’s tourned serious as she talked, pride resonating from her voice while arms ed around me from behind. I felt my cheeks burning, though for o wasn’t from being turned on.
I felt honored, blessed, as though what she was saying was the greatest gift I could ever receive. “My Goddess, your words mean… they mean a great deal to me.”
She floated around to my front and gave me a small smile. Happiness, warmth, and a tinge of guilt, all showed on the curve of her divine lips. “Esme, you’ve been absolutely incredible. Not just as a means of us settling on this world and making a home for ourselves, but also just as an amazing person. I am so sorry about what we put you through, but I’m not sorry at all that Reltris has Esme Dreamsinger now. I have no doubt you will make the world a better pce.”
Then, for the sed time, I found myself with a goddess’s tongue in my mouth. I hadly fotten that Vei’Ryn and I were both naked, but the feeling of her body pressing against my own did make it feel like I had somehow let that detail slip from my mind. Her fingers slid down my back as she kissed me, sending shivers up my spine and making me moan arouongue.
The kiss broke and I felt my heart rag, my breath tearing through my lungs in gasping desperation. Fuck but she could kiss. I swallowed, lig my lips while my mind dragged itself from the raw desire she stoked in me. I stared at her for a moment as I mao slowly vince my voice tain. “I’m still upset,” were my muttered words. She flinched slightly and started to pull away, but I held her. “Not… not that upset.”
I pulled her into another kiss that I tried to lead, but she melted my mind in seds and I felt myself bee putty in her arms. I made a mental note, don’t try and soft dom a goddess.
A shudder pulsed through me and I pulled back to gasp. Vei’Ryn smiled at me. “As much as I’d love this to tinue, especially if it escates, we do have details to go over. This isn’t really a matter you just make up as you go. At least irely.”
Una nodded and crossed her arms. “True, I’ll get the others. This is a full pantheon issue.” The Mentor spoke as she turned and seemed to ripple and fade as she left the bubble to gather their lovers together.
I took a slow, deep breath aered myself. “This is gonna be a long night, huh?”
My Goddess smiled at me. “You ha, you’re a badass bitch.”
I rolled my eyes. “Kiss-ass.”
“Oh, that will have to wait until we’re fully established.” She wi me and giggled just before the rest of her pantheon arrived.
Several hours ter, I opened my eyes to the feeling of my loves against me and the smell of Weren’s cooking. Mmm, paoday. A smile burst into life on my lips as I turo kiss and whisper into Henna’s ear. “Wake up sexy, we have a big day today.”
