  Luffy read through all the details, his grin growing wider with every passing moment. Then, without warning, he threw his head bad ughed like a madman, startling Law so badly that the young surgeon almost dropped his sword.

  "HAHAHAHAHA! This is unbelievable! You're not just a lucky charm, you're my personal goldmine, Luo!"

  He spped Law on the shoulder so hard it nearly khe boy off bance. Law blinked in stunned fusion, his usual cool demeanor pletely shattered.

  'What in the hell is wrong with him?! Did he finally snap? Maybe I should check if he's got a fever... or a screw loose,' Law thought, eyeing Luffy like he was some kind of uable wild animal.

  But Luffy, oblivious to the younger boy's bewilderment, crouched doulled two thick, weathered books out of thin air, practically smming them onto the de front of Law with a resounding thud.

  "I've got big pns for you, kid," Luffy decred, his grin sharp and almost predatory. "Yonna master your Devil Fruit powers and Haki, no question about it. But first, we've gotta fix you up, 'cause right now, you're running on fumes. Your body's way too underdeveloped, and that Devil Fruit of yours? It's draining your stamina like a leaky bucket. Sure, the training you did with the Donquixote family was brutal, but guess what? It's not even close to enough."

  Luffy just ughed again, his voice eg across the ship like thunder. "You have no idea!"

  Bepo had woken up during their versation, listening to them. He did not have much idea of what was going on.

  "Oh, you are finally awake. e here and have some food." Luffy smiled kindly at the por bear.

  Bepo was a little shy and scared from the previous i. He crawled over and took a seat beside the fire.

  Luffy passed a cooked fish to the little fellow whose eyes instantly lit up in joy.

  Luffy turo Law and whispered slowly. "How about you take him under you? This little guy is quite cute and might prove to be a great aid for you."

  Law listened and g Bepo, w whether to agree or not.

  At that moment, Bepo had fihe fish and looked at Law, speaking slowly.

  "Umm... I want to thank you for ing to my aid. I was so scared that... that I could not put up aao them..."

  Law was a little embarrassed by the sudden gratitude of the por bear. He waved his hand. "You're wele, but they were rushing at me, that's why I attacked them. It wasn't to help you."

  Bepo slowly nodded his head and stated sadly. "Yes. I told myself that if I stayed quiet if I didn't resist, maybe we would end up being friends..."

  "Friends?" Law muttered the single word slowly. He was hearing that word for the first time in a long time.

  He felt his heart throbbing as sadness welled up in his heart. He did not have any more friends. They were all burnt to death.

  For a moment, he remembers my family and all his church friends.

  He felt his urning sour and wiped the tears from the er of his eyes.
