Seulgi was feeling smug. She knew she had a lovely face. She knew that she kept her body toned, trim, and lithesome. She could bend in ways that could seem unnatural to people not familiar with yoga and pites practitioners. But all of this did something to the way that she walked, making what should be a simple means of transport into a gliding art. Her means of conveyance was startling but in a good way.
This was illustrated multiple times on her way to work.
This started when she had collected all of her things, stuffed them into a backpack, and left for work. Of course, Suki got her due before allowing her to leave. She opened her apartment door and met the eyes of her neighbor across the hall. When their eyes met, he dropped the keys in his hand without noticing. Seulgi’s smile got a fraction wider and a degree warmer.
When she got in the elevator to go to the ground floor, there was a mother with a small baby. The baby stared at her the whole way down. Seulgi being Seulgi she got the baby to giggle by making funny faces at the child. Much to the amusement of the child and the appreciation of the mother. She waved to the pair as she headed to the front door.
On the way to the doors, she got an even brighter greeting from the guards. She graced them with a smile that would leave them motivated to be sharp and even more vigint than normal. Which was unfortunate for a couple of people who were trying to gain access for illicit reasons. However, The Seulgi Effect got them noticed for the efficient work done and praise from their managers. As a side note, the boys on duty have started trying to dress more professionally as well. They have upped the status of their clothes, haircuts, and overall appearance. Seulgi didn’t have the hubris to think it had anything to do with her, even though she was a peripheral factor.
Odd things kept happening on the way to work. She would get an unasked-for discount from street vendors. One person walked into a street mp as she walked by. She was no longer nonplussed by these things. They were now common occurrences when she dresses up. She really does not care about these things anymore. If she ever starts getting a big head, she always has Suki to put her in her pce.
She got into the ground floor of the office building with only one instance of tripping over an uneven bit of sidewalk. It was not really even noticeable, but she felt it and forgot it. Like usual.
The trip across the open floor to the elevators was a mirror of her leaving her apartment building. Nodding and greeting the guards, she smiled at them, too. Amusingly, the ride up the elevator was also simir in that there was a very young person who she was vaguely familiar with that she was amused with making faces at each other since they were alone. They both left the elevator ughing like fools.
She sashayed through the office floor drawing gazes by ghosting into her office. This was a fairly unnoticeable thing as she usually drew attention when she walked anywhere. However, what made today different was that from before leaving the apartment until now, she was softly singing all of the songs from the night before nearly perfectly, note for note. She was blissfully unaware of how many songs she got stuck in someone else’s head like an evil djinn.
Still humming, she sat down, booted up her ptop, and organized some papers on her desk for the morning meeting. She got up and went to the breakroom, put her lunch in the company fridge, started making herself some tea, and headed back to her desk. While away, Jackson and Nayeon had already put chairs in pce for people to join them. They had scattered away, getting their own refreshments and other paperwork to begin the day.
Seulgi went back to opening her ptop, bringing up her email, checking to see if there are any emergencies, looking to see what sort of things need to be accessed, addressed, and then ranking what was more important and what was trash.
She filtered tasks into the order of importance and assigned tasks to the people who were best suited to what needed to be done. She printed the tasks out and colted the papers into piles for the appropriate people.
At fifteen minutes to nine am, Jackson had snuck in while she was working on this. She was made subconsciously aware of his presence by the smell of coffee. Nayeon and Yeji quickly followed Jackson in. They were having a quiet conversation about something as they picked seats and waited for the meeting to start. Min-Jeon and Yeojin came in chattering like jaybirds, who quieted as they approached the office.
Bhuwakul came in, much to the confusion of everyone. He walked around the back of Seulgi’s desk without saying a single word, patted her on the shoulder, and then left with no one else being the wiser of his intention or motives. Everyone, except the Twins, was used to the strange behavior and ignored him. When Yeojin was about to stand up and say something, Yeji y a hand on her arm, quieting the young female. Min-Jeon was semi-immune to the shenanigans that go on around this crew so while she thought about getting up and saying something, she looked at everyone else and noticed that they were not bothered. Being a clever girl, she knew you could learn a lot by watching and listening. This is how she knew not to do or say anything.
Everything was settling back down and the meeting was starting. Then everyone started even harder than expected. Everyone looked in consternation as Seulgi looked tired. Actually, really, truly tired.
A chorus of ‘Are you feeling OK? Barraged her. She spent the next five minutes comforting or consoling her people assuring them all that she was fine. She was not sick. She just had a te night. She also said that her hoarse voice was from singing too much yesterday. She did not bring up that she had gone back for another round of singing after everyone has split up. She still wanted to keep Bae JooHyun and Soo-young as her private toys before letting everyone else know about them.
