Seventy Eight

Seulgi and everyone else ughed at this officious oaf. They couldn’t help it. And if this fool was too stupid to think that he could pester a group of people that he had no interaction with, nor ‘jurisdiction’ over, then any embarrassment that he received was his own fault. He deserved no sympathy. So, he received none.

About a month ter there was a rumor that went around that he had gone to the Big Boss to compin about Seulgi and Co. for being noisy, but he was instead ughed out of the office. But that is a story for another time.

After Seulgi got herself back under a modicum of control and managed to slip the noose that her boys tried to put on her. She got up and started to help clean her office. She picked up a couple of empty ptes and deposited them into the trash. That was about as far as she got before Nayeon and Yeji teamed up on her and pced her back into her desk chair. Unsurprisingly, they were slightly less gentle than her boys were.

The office was back in near pristine shape in less time than it took to make the mess. Granted, it was not really a true mess, anyway. No one would trash her office as most would take that as being disrespectful to Seulgi. It was well known, amongst those that matter, that disrespecting Seulgi was a Very Bad Idea. One recently hired floor manager, who had repced Karen, learned that just now.

Once things got settled, things put away, and ready to get back to business, everyone scattered back to what they were doing before lunch came around.

Both of her boys made her promise to call either of them if she needed anything. She agreed, mostly to get rid of them rather than having any real pns to call them.

She got her people taken care of, fed, watered, and on their way to be productive the rest of the day. She felt good about how lunch went. She pondered if she should start closing the door during lunch so as to not bother the others on the floor. A couple more times during the afternoon, she felt a heated, angry gaze from across the room. She surreptitiously looked up and saw that fool that had tried to shush them. She rolled her eyes and climbed back into her current project.

This new project of hers was going to be a challenge. Even more so than the st few projects. This one involved some proper complicated parts. Normally, her part of the projects is to y the groundwork, assess the feasibility, and to do a cost analysis to see if it would be worthwhile.

The scope that she was given was a note saying “We want to make a component, for this international company, to supply a rocket that will take people and cargo into space.” There was a list of needs, components, durability requirements, and standards to be met.

The problem was that this was absolutely out of her areas of expertise. She had no clue about these parts. But there were a lot of them. And they all had to work in tandem. If she didn’t do everything exactly right, there would be both people and cargo spread over the Pacific Ocean in little tiny pieces.

  She called Nayeon over.

Once she showed up, Seulgi said: “This,” pointing at the paper she’d been reading for the st hour, “is going to take a while.”

She dismissed Nayeon by looking back into the paper, without another word. Normally this would be considered rude. But, Nayeon had seen this look before and knew that Seulgi was no longer in their world. She was pnning, processing, and projecting this project across her mental white board.

Things were about to get seriously busy for everybody.

Thus, magic words were spoken. A metaphorical Do Not Disturb appeared in front of her office. Seulgi knew that Nayeon would pass the word around to the relevant people and nobody would bother her unless it was serious.

Although only one other person knew this, even Bhuwakul got the do not disturb message and ran interference on her office, thereby fending people away from Seulgi. He saw someone walking towards her office with a sullen look in his eye with a piece of paper. Bhuwakul stopped the young man, asked what he needed help with, and then helped him. This especially surprised the young man, but the problem was resolved and Seulgi and company were none the wiser.

Most people were unaware that Bhuwakul was very intelligent and exceptionally talented. That’s because he preferred to be low-key. Regardless, he flexed a bit and started getting more active in the Keep Unnecessary People Away.

All of her people knew that there were going to be times when people had a legitimate need to talk to her. There were some things only she could decide on or approve of. They were not trying to stop her from doing her job. They were trying to let her do her work with as few interruptions as possible.

Before she knew it after lunch had turned into afternoon. She got up, and stretched, her spine sounded like a zipper. She started walking around. First to the dies' room, then to the break room. While her tea was brewing, she walked around the floor.

The lout tried to stop her from talking to his people by popping up like a zit in front of her and asking if he could help her.

She said that she doubted it and walked around him and kept chatting with the people on the floor.

Everyone knew that she was the soul of politeness, courtesy, and pleasantness. With that one eviscerating remark, this man’s fate was sealed. It was spread around with the speed of the rumor mill that Seulgi didn’t like this guy. As soon as that spread, his already cool reception by the others in other departments turned frigid. When he found out what he had done, it was too te. The damage had been done. With some things, there are no do-overs, no second chances. Getting on these people’s bad side was one such instance.

Seulgi, being the gracious person that she is, might forgive him eventually. But, nobody else would.

This fool was about to get a lesson from the meme saying Stupidity should be painful.
