One Hundred Two

After five pm, an out-of-breath, ruby-faced Gillian showed up. The first thing that she did was ask if anyone had seen Jackson. She said that he normally calls her during the day, but he has not called her and he is not answering her calls. This was very much out of character. But, it’s also not like it had never happened before, either.

It was probably something to do with business since he was picking up the sck that Seulgi could not get into the office to take care of. Gillian was justifiably worried, but not scared - yet. At this reminder, Seulgi vowed to go back into the office early in the morning to clean up whatever mess was on her desk.

Seulgi pulled out her Samsung Gaxy phone and tried to call him; it went straight to voice mail. That was odd as well, she thought with a small frown. She knew that Jackson always unquestionably answered calls from three women: his mother, his wife, and Seulgi, in that order. Mother knew Gillian, but not Seulgi, and vice versa. Gillian vouched for both, so Mother and Seulgi would believe that the other were acceptable. All three knew this and were fine with it. But, all three also expected him to answer when they called. So, this must be something important going on. Still, Seulgi’s chocote eyes hardened.

No one was worried – yet. It was just….unusual.

There was no change in Wendy’s condition. Also, worrisome, but no one was scared – yet.

Gillian had volunteered to stay until Nayeon got back. Then Nayeon would be spelled by Jackson. Jackson would be repced by Seulgi and the Parents in the morning. Once the changeover was done, she would go into the office, but she wanted to check on Wendy first. Wendy would never be alone, even if the police put protection on her.

Katie was going to come in, but Gillian said that she would take care of Wendy at this time. Katie said, emphatically, that she and her teams would start taking shifts, too. Wendy was theirs too, after all. Seulgi told her that they would talk about it tomorrow morning, and the younger woman capituted.

Seulgi was smart enough to know that if she didn’t start adding Wendy’s people, they would just start showing up. That could lead to an unharmonious encounter. That could be bad for both the people involved and for Wendy. Besides, her people also had their own duties as well. The only people that could be here uncontested would be the Parents and they could veto anyone.

Seulgi knew that there was no way to not add these people, so she quickly sent a text to Katie asking for a list of people that she could add to the acceptable people list and whom she would personally vouch for. Seulgi leaned back in her chair and looked at the white tiles ceiling.

Then Seulgi followed that up by asking her how she was doing and what safety precautions she was taking. Their conversation was fairly productive.

Seulgi shared with those present that Katie and her people would be joining them in watching over Wendy. She informed them that they would be getting a list of welcomed people from Katie’s side in the morning. They would talk about the need for one or two people here, acceptable people, and the rest in the morning. Seulgi shared this information because she knew that all the relevant people would get the relevant information sent to them. Her people trusted her direction and discretion, while Seulgi trusted Katie’s decision in her people.

About that time, Song-Hoon had started arguing with a police detective, just outside the room’s door, that his little girl needed police protection. For some reason, the wallpaper in the waiting room was the same as the wallpaper in most 1970's airpne disaster movies. They had been providing their own security for now, but there was someone who tried to murder his girl out there and the police had not found him yet. Things started getting heated and could be easily heard until She had enough. She went outside and started by clouting Him non-too-gently on the back of the head and reminded Him that He was a professional doctor in a hospital, outside his daughter’s room, among others as well.

The detective was looking smug until she turned to him and started reminding him about all of the unprofessional things he had said and actions that he had been subjecting her husband to. She told him of the unfppable detectives that she had known in Her past, how they carried themselves with patience and decorum.

Her softly spoken diatribe was not heard by anyone other than these two naughty, red-faced boys. She did not curse, or use any harsh nguage. She did not even have to raise her voice to be heard. After a ten minute harsh discussion with them, to both of their detriment, they ended it with shaking hands and and apologizing to each other.

Seulgi had a mental image that She went out there, twisted both of their ears, and dressed them down as the headmistress of some unruly boys. Naturally, she shared this with everyone present. The ughter inside the room was louder than the people outside.

The ughter sted until She poked Her head inside the room with a frown. The ughter stopped with a guillotine’s sudden sharpness. Being looked at by an angry headmistress was only funny when she was looking at someone else.

Jeong-Hui marched Song-Hoon back into the room, noticeably cking a particur detective who had managed to escape. She quietly said, “Seulgi. Dinner.”

“Choose a restaurant. I don’t think any of us are up for cooking tonight,” was said by Him, with a nod of agreement from Her.

Seulgi would take them to Soo-Young's pce. She was half hoping that the girl was off for the day, but at the same time didn’t want her to be.

So, Seulgi went down to get the car first, looking to see if there were any reporters or paparazzo waiting to ambush the Parents. The coast looked clear. She sent a text to them saying to come down and she would be waiting at the front door.
