Eighty

After that flight of whimsy, she headed home.

The only bad news was that Wendy texted back and had to cancel their pns. An emergency came up, and she was no longer avaible. After many apologies and promises to re-schedule ter, everything was taken care of. These things happen, so no hard feelings.

Though, now, the evening was free and she was something at a loss as to what to do tonight.

She shook her head and started walking. Tonight can take care of itself ter. Pns are good and all, but a bit of spontaneity can be good, too. Seulgi thought about asking Nayeon and Yeji out to dinner. But, then she remembered that Nayeon had a new guy that she was stalking like prey and that Yeji was Yeji and she never knew what was going through that girl’s mind. Yeji has been known to contempte the test cake recipe, partial physics, and anime. Sometimes all at once. The main thing that makes her act like the very young woman that she is, is a weakness to kittens. She even has a super soft spot for that cantankerous old Suki. (Suki loved her too, but would never admit it.)

That’s a thought, maybe invite them over and make some dinner. She had been eating out at restaurants too much tely. She was worried that Suki was feeling neglected. If Suki feels slighted, then Bad Things can happen.

Her cell phone rang. The caller ID said Mom – Nope. She does not need that drama – whatever the current crisis was – right now.

Then her brother – aka Mother’s Main Minion was what was shown as his name on the caller ID – called: same Nope as Mother dear. Too much unnecessary drama heading her way. That was best to avoid as long as she could.

Two voicemails were in her inbox, both of which could be ignored until she got home. She felt zero guilt about ignoring them. It’s not her fault that they called during business hours. She told them not to call during business hours. So she’s going to be ignoring the messages until she gets home. And then both voicemails could be ignored until after dinner. Then would put off listening to the voicemails until after her light home workout was done. And after her bath, hygiene was more important than voice mails, right? She might have to wait until tomorrow before stepping on that particur ndmine.

Too bad there was no way of deleting them without listening. She was sure that there was a way. But she just didn’t know how to. And she did not care enough to ask.

Seulgi sent a text to Nayeon and Yeji to see if they had dinner pns. Against her expectations, Nayeon didn’t but Yeji did. Yeji had a date tonight. Weekday dates were rare, but good for her anyway! Seulgi was completely oblivious to the irony of the fact that she essentially asked Yeji on a ‘dinner date’ with Nayeon during the week, so maybe it was not as rare as she thought.

So, they make pns to go to a particur restaurant. Nayeon didn’t know that she was being used as an excuse to go see Soo-young. But that’s OK, Seulgi thought, she didn’t need to know. Not that she needed an excuse, per se, but it felt better (or, at least less guilty) this way.

Nayeon said that she would pick up Seulgi at about 7 and they would head over to the restaurant.

Frowning, Seulgi just had a thought: What if her new friend wasn’t working tonight? That would defeat the purpose of that particur pce, but whatever. Even if Soo-Young wasn’t there, the food was still good. Just, most of the attraction for her, and nearly everyone else that frequents the pce, would be minimized. They would find out soon enough.

Seulgi got back to her apartment building. Her heel click-ccked across the grey-tiled foyer that was polished to a high gloss gleam. She took a couple of minutes to chat with the security personnel. There was a new girl on duty, so she took a few moments to greet her and familiarize herself with the new face.

With a cheerful smile and wave goodbye, Seulgi got another fan. The rest of the guards just smiled tolerantly because they knew what it was like for them to have met the resident Madonna for the first time themselves.

Seulgi decided to forgo the elevator and take the stairs tonight. By the fourth floor, she was a bit more winded than she was comfortable with. By the tenth floor, she had started sweating. By the twelfth floor, her calves were burning and not in a good way.

She needed to really stop scking off and get back into the gym and running along the bike paths. Preferably with the company of one or more of her friends. She was going to definitely, absolutely, 100% pencil in time for a jog after work. Yup. Unless something comes up, of course. Not that she’d actually look for an excuse.

Assuaging her guilt, she entered her apartment. Keys and phone dropped on the sideboard, she toed off her shoes and went in to see what damage Suki had been up to.

Seulgi managed to enter the apartment quieter than normal, so Suki was unaware that she was currently being stalked by her deranged human. That was until she had indignantly been scooped up, flipped over onto her back, and got molested by her human who was blowing raspberries into her belly fur. While shocked and surprised, she was still used to it enough that she did not extend her cws when pushing against her human’s face with her paws.

Despite the indignities upon her person, the cat was very tolerant of her chosen imbecile. Her person further heaped indignities upon her by tossing her – tossing her – away onto the couch. Mid-air, she had already started plotting her revenge.

Seulgi ran into the bedroom to change her clothes, ughing like a loon. She would, of course, make sure to grab a special treat for Suki while she was out. Not so much as an apology as a bribe to appease her furry lord and master.

As such, the eternal war between cat and human continued. Much to the enjoyment of both.
