“Hi Victor, I’m Sasha Brightchild, this is Jayce Wildchild and that is Christina Pierce, although she prefers to be called Chrissy.” Sasha said, starting up a conversation as I just stared at him. Nice save.
“Nice to meet you. Do you mind if I sit?” Victor asked
“Sure, take a seat.” Sasha said and he did, sitting right beside me
“So Victor, why did you choose to come to our humble little town?” Jayce asked
“I guess I needed a change of scenery. The city life is great and all, but it can become a bit….tiresome, for lack of a better word. So, I decided to move here, to reconnect with nature and all that.” Victor said
“And how have you enjoyed reconnecting with nature so far.” Sasha asked while taking a bite of her salad
“Well, the air is certainly cleaner and the people are quite nice.” Victor said
“The people?” Sasha said with a coy smile
“People are apart of nature aren’t they.” Victor said with a smile. I had put my head on the table, trying to suppress my vampiric instincts. I swear my mind was slipping in and out of consciousness, and my vision was red.
“Are you alright?” Victor asked and I gave him a thumbs up
“She’s sick, she has been like that all day, but she refuses to go to the nurse.” Sasha said and the three of them continued their long conversation throughout lunchtime. I did manage to learn a few things about Victor throughout the conversation. He came here alone, the rest of his family was still in NYC, which I found odd. He was staying at a house near the forest past Ferguson Street, on the east side of the town. And he just moved into town a week ago, which would explain why I didn’t see him at orientation. He was also in 12Q, the class adjacent to mine, 12U.
*Ring, ring, ring*
“Lunch time is over already huh. It was great meeting you Victor.” Jayce said
“The pleasure is all mine.” Victor replied
“See you later Victor.” Sasha said
“You too.” He replied and I could feel all their gazes on me

“It was nice meeting you Victor. Hope to see you soon and have a proper conversation. Sasha, I think I’ll take your advice and head to the nurse’s office.” I said before getting up and looking at Victor, and as I expected, he had no reaction to my glowing eyes or extended fangs. It was obvious that Victor was the one who caused this to happen to me and only his blood would satiate my hunger, since I wasn’t attracted to anyone else’s blood. This meant that Victor was somehow special, but he didn’t react at all to my appearance.
“Good, you were worrying me for a second. Even your skin is starting to look a little pale.” Sasha said
“Then all the more reason to head the nurse. Bye, and don’t forget to Mr. Anderson I’m not coming.” I said before rushing off to the nurse’s office. The office was far, as it was at the center of the school and I quickly rushed inside. The office was very large, with a lot of empty beds and since it was the first day of school, it was empty except for the nurse.
“Good aft-” But before she could finish her greeting, her eyes became dull and lifeless as I used hypnosis on her.
“I am going to sleep, do not disturb me or let anyone else do so. Understood.” I said
“Understood.” She replied in a monotone voice
‘I’m gonna hate myself for this.’ I thought as I headed towards one of the closed rooms inside the office and entered. Inside, there was a bed a wooden table and I quickly lied on the bed. I layed on my back and crossed my arms like a corpse, before slowing my heartbeat and breathing. I bet to anyone else I would look lifeless right now, like a corpse, but I was merely in slumber. It is obvious that I need to feed on Victor to go back to normal, but I couldn’t do it right now with so many people around. I needed to wait, but I could feel control over my body slipping so the best thing to do is slumber and wait.
As my mind became fuzzy, my nightmare began, only this time it was a little different from usual. I could feel myself drowning in thick, crimson blood as I slowly sunk to the bottom. It felt like my lungs were about to explode and I desperately tried to swim upwards for what felt like hours, then days, then weeks.
*Ring, Ring, Ring*
“Finally.” I said as the school bell rang and I woke up. After years of experience, I have learned not to dwell on these meaningless nightmares, they will only drive you mad.
“Thank you, Tina.” I said as I walked past the nurse and opened the door. Luckily, Sasha and Jayce hasn’t come to pick me up. And to prevent anymore stalling, I decided to send them a text to go home.
‘Now then, where are you Victor?’ I said and I could feel my instincts take over a bit. I opened a nearby window before jumping through and landing on a tree. The sun was still shining brightly, standing high in the sky, which felt a bit annoying to me for some reason. I could still smell that beautiful scent and I instinctively followed after it. My body was filled with strength and vigor I have never know before causing me to reach my target faster than I predicted. Victor was at the front gate saying goodbye to Bethany and her friends as I hid behind a tree, almost fifty meters, away. He soon left, walking towards his home and I waited patiently, like a predator stalking her prey. Time past slowly, as I observed Victor, waiting for my moment to strike and soon it came. He decided to take a shortcut through an alleyway and I knew this was my opportunities to strike.
‘Okay, I’ll drink some of his blood and use hypnosis to erase his memories, just like my parents told me. Let’s go.’ I thought and rushed towards him and I instantly cleared the distance between the two of us and appeared behind him. I pushed against the wall and pinned him against it.
“Chriss-” But I quickly covered his mouth before he could scream or say anything else, as I imagine what I’m going to do next will be very painful.
“Arrgh.” I heard Victor’s muffled scream as I bit into his exposed neck, draining his blood from his body. I could feel him struggling, but he was nowhere near as strong as I was currently. I was soon lost in the pleasure, the pure bliss of drinking his blood, it tasted better than anything I have ever tasted before. Warm, sweet and creamy like a delicious treat. I have no idea how long we were in that dark alley, but I snapped out of my reverie when I could no longer feel the delicious blood flowing into my mouth. I removed my mouth from his neck and his body slid lifelessly against the wall onto the ground.
“Oh no, oh no! What have I done?!” I almost screamed out in horror at what I have done, but quickly covered my mouth. My mind was now clear as my instincts and blood lust no longer clouded my thoughts. It felt so unreal to me, that I have killed someone in cold blood, I have always joked that I could do it easily, but now I know for sure, that I can’t. I calmed down a bit and removed my hand from my mouth, and I realized that there was blood on my lips. I quickly wiped the blood off my lips with my finger, but seeing the blood, an overwhelming urge came over me and licked the blood off my fingers. I looked over at the corpse of the new kid, no Victor Grayson, one last time. His eyes open, lifelessly staring into my own.
“I’m sorry.” I whispered, before running away as fast as I could.
