Chapter 015 – Two Difficult Fights

Completely recovered after resting well, Alexander transformed into his goblin form and went to the BOSS room of the Kobold Dungeon. When he opened the room doors, he noticed that the room's design remained the same as the others, but its size was a bit larger.

After taking a deep breath, Alexander turned to the large kobold that was beside the dungeon's reward chest.

  [{Agile Kobold} – Monster – 1st Evolution]

Seeing the size of its claws and fangs, Alexander held his dagger, which was already in his hand, even tighter, and it began to drip poison along its blade.

As in the other dungeons, the large kobold advanced to attack as soon as Alexander entered the room. But upon approaching, its nose sniffed the air and its eyes turned to the dagger.

"Shit. The smell of the poison on the dagger," Alexander concluded.

Its reluctance didn't last long. After observing Alexander for some time, the kobold began to attack him from the side opposite the dagger, which put the two at a stalemate, as the Kobold was more agile, but Alexander had poison.

Their other attributes were practically the same, thanks to the increase Alexander received using |Magical Body Strengthening|, which meant the fight only truly started when, after many cuts, Alexander managed to hit it with his dagger.

Feeling the poison entering its body, the large kobold became so frenzied that its speed even increased. From then on, all Alexander could do was stay on the defensive and wait for a chance to counterattack.

This strategy was good and minimized the damage received at the beginning. But as soon as it felt it was on a path of no return, the kobold simply stopped worrying about the poison and began to attack without restrictions.

Confronting the kobold's charge, Alexander gripped his dagger even tighter and struck the creature's claws, breaking one of its claws. Unfortunately for him, the kobold had two front paws, meaning two sets of claws.

With no way to protect himself, Alexander retreated to reduce the damage. But even so, he couldn't avoid having his chest slashed.

Having no way to escape, and knowing that if this continued he would end up dead, Alexander gritted his teeth to avoid screaming in pain and decided to bet everything. Instead of defending, he ran towards the one trying to be his executioner.

As soon as it saw Alexander do this, the kobold got on all its paws and did the same. But since it was faster and more agile, it took advantage of its edge to launch itself at its opponent.

With the kobold practically flying towards him, Alexander retracted his neck and raised his shoulders, to protect his jugular.

Seeing that it couldn't bite Alexander's neck, the kobold changed targets and bit his shoulder.

Alexander's bones immediately emitted a nauseating sound to alert him they were breaking. But even howling in pain, Alexander used his arm to trap the kobold's head against his shoulder.

Making sure the kobold's head was firmly trapped against his shoulder, Alexander activated the special skill |Poisonous Mist| and bit its exposed jugular, injecting even more poison into its bloodstream.

When the two fell to the ground, the kobold began to thrash like mad trying to free itself, but Alexander endured the pain and kept it trapped against his shoulder until it died.

When the fight ended, Alexander quickly deactivated |Poisonous Mist|, removed the large kobold from his shoulder, and began applying first aid to the bite site.

The first step was to use |Invigorate| to mainly disinfect and clean the bite region. The second was to return to the entrance of the BOSS room, where his important things were, and drink a [Health Potion].

With |Invigorate| acting from the outside, and the potion from the inside, Alexander began to recover very well. But there was still blood loss.

Remembering the information about [Health Potion], Alexander stopped his |Invigorate| for a while and poured a [Health Potion] over his wounds.

Surprisingly, the wounds began to heal even faster. But since he was still far from being well, Alexander used his free attribute points to increase his (Vitality) attribute.

  [5 points added to Vitality]

"I can't tell if these potions are very good, or if my regeneration is very high, or even if it's a bit of both, but I'm sure that cracked bones on Earth don't regenerate at this speed," thought Alexander. "At this rate I should be completely recovered by tomorrow morning."

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

After improving a bit, Alexander took the items from this dungeon's chest, which had the same items as the previous chest, but with one extra of each item, and dragged the body of the {Agile Kobold} out of the dungeon. That way he could rest more and only disassemble it when he was a bit better.

The next day, already feeling better, Alexander disassembled the body of the {Agile Kobold} as best he could while recovering. Not feeling very confident about eating this meat, his priority was to remove the skin well.

Using the skin of the {Agile Kobold} together with the leather armor of the {Hobgoblin}, boar leather, and rabbit skin, Alexander made a large and resistant "bag" for his things.

"Only one remains," Alexander pondered while eating as much meat as he could. "But this one must also be the worst of them."

The idea of leaving crossed Alexander's mind for a while, but upon remembering the cumulative mission of the grove, he decided to face the last BOSS.

"Trying won't kill me," Alexander concluded. "And if the situation starts to get difficult, I can flee. After all, it's not like the exit will close by itself."

In the middle of the afternoon, when he felt he could fight again, Alexander went to the entrance of the BOSS room of the Orc Dungeon. And knowing he couldn't hold back against this BOSS, he began to make his preparations.

Upon entering the BOSS room, Alexander held his dagger soaked in paralyzing poison in one hand, as this type is odorless, and in the other the [Wooden Staff from the Mana Tree]. But upon looking at the dungeon's BOSS, his preparations began to seem insufficient.

To Alexander, that orc was a pinkish porcine aberration 2m tall that had a large two-handed club.

  [{Orc} – Monster – 1st Evolution]

Hastily, Alexander used |Magical Body Strengthening| to increase his attributes and be able to maintain distance. He did this because all his instincts screamed that he should run to not be hit by any blow from that thing, especially with that club.

Upon seeing someone invading its domain, the orc let out a terrible roar and began to run in his direction.

Alexander immediately responded by launching the spell |Water Jet| with maximum volume from the staff, but its effect was limited to slowing the charge and causing some superficial damage, like throwing water in the orc's eyes.

Irritated by having water in its eyes, the orc began to swing its club blindly. The force applied in these blows was so great it emitted a strange sound as it overcame the air resistance.

Seeing it like this, Alexander continued to move away and launched another |Water Jet|, but this time with maximum pressure and from his hand.

The spell made the orc roar in pain and drop its club, but it didn't manage to pierce enough to go through its hand.

Even more enraged, the orc roared in pure anger and crouched to pick up its weapon. But Alexander, who was expecting exactly that, charged at the orc and plunged his dagger into the wound |Water Jet| had made.

The dagger was completely soaked in poison, but that didn't seem to matter in the face of the orc's fury, which simply slapped Alexander with the back of its free hand, as if he were an irritating fly.

The orc's slap was strong and made him roll on the ground, but it didn't cause that much damage.

After rolling on the ground, Alexander managed to get up and started running again.

From that moment on, much of the fight boiled down to a succession of club blows, which made a part of the ground vibrate, on one side, and Alexander doing his best to dodge on the other.

Thanks to his skill |Magical Body Strengthening|, and the orc's inability to control its club blows, Alexander was able to dodge long enough to see openings and counterattack sporadically.

The fight continued for a while like a game of hitting the pi?ata, Alexander being the pi?ata, but it wasn't as if it were completely one-sided. While dodging, Alexander was also using the skill |Poisonous Mist| with paralyzing poison, which, surprisingly, was also colorless, and launching spells.

At a certain point, a spell made the orc drop its club again, but this time it didn't try to retrieve it. It just advanced and began to attack.

This attitude was, at the very least, questionable, especially since agility wasn't its strong suit. But Alexander, who had nothing to do with it, continued to wreak even more havoc using kiting.

Just as things were starting to improve, Alexander felt the effect of his second |Magical Body Strengthening| ending and the orc becoming more and more frenzied. Possibly because it began to feel the real effects of the poisoning.

Knowing what happened when a monster went mad, Alexander tried to flee as fast as possible, but the orc didn't seem to want to cooperate and began to pursue him with everything it had.

During the pursuit, Alexander noticed that the orc's movements began to stiffen. Not wanting to lose this opportunity, he stopped fleeing, reactivated |Magical Body Strengthening|, and leaped onto the orc, driving the dagger up to the hilt into its eye.

His attack was so successful that even Alexander was surprised. But his surprise didn't stop there.

Looking at the orc, Alexander realized it hadn't stopped moving, much less died.

Unfortunately, his discovery only came when it was already too late, because the orc's fist was already coming towards him with full force. And since he was in the air, there was no way to escape.

Realizing he couldn't dodge, Alexander dropped everything he was holding and positioned himself sideways to cushion the blow with his arm.

His idea was good for the situation. But it didn't nullify the {Orc}'s strength.

As soon as the punch hit him, Alexander couldn't withstand its impact for even a second. Excruciating pain shot through his right side when he was thrown far away.

  — CRACK

A single punch from the {Orc} was enough to do what the bite from the {Agile Kobold} couldn't do completely. Alexander's arm broke instantly, and his ribs, which were behind the arm, cracked.

When Alexander finally hit the ground with a loud thud, he had already flown a good part of the BOSS room, ending up very close to the door.

Without thinking twice, Alexander began to run to save his life while coughing up blood. But after taking only a few steps, he fell and rolled on the ground due to dizziness, lack of air, and bodily weakness.

To his luck, as soon as he stopped rolling on the ground, the system informed him that the orc had died.

Completely ignoring the notifications, Alexander staggered as best he could to the reward chest hoping to find some potions to heal his arm, his ribs, and himself as a whole.

Upon opening the chest, Alexander found almost the same things again, but instead of [Antidote] and [Silver], he found a different [Health Potion] and a yellow metal.

Alexander didn't know why, or how, these changes happened, but he was very happy to have this extra [Health Potion]. Even more so when he saw its information upon appraising the chest's items.

[Health Potion (Intermediate):] red liquid that helps heal wounds.

? Can be consumed or administered directly to the wound.

  ? Recovers 25 to 50 HP.

? The effect is reduced if more than one is consumed in a short time.
