Chapter 3: A Treasure at Home
That night, Chu Zui successfully evaded the landlord's "arrest" and slipped into her home with a dejected look. As soon as she entered, she saw that everything was in disarray, as if someone had broken in and robbed the place. Shocked, she quickly took off her shoes and rushed into the bedroom: "Xin Xin?!"
She rushed into the bedroom, her eyes frantically scanning the messy room, and finally saw her daughter safe and sound in the corner of the bed, before she could calm down slightly.
"Mommy~~~~!" Little Le Xi was holding a bag of chocolate bars in his hand, eating with great relish, and his hands were covered with chocolate stains. His face was also smeared with chocolate. When he saw Chu Zui rushing in with a flustered look, he suddenly held up the evidence in his hands and shouted with a big smile: "Mommy~ Xi Xi found it! Found it in that cabinet! Hehe~~~~"
With a sense of accomplishment, Xiaoyue stretched out her chubby little hand, pointing to the bedside cabinet, and her big round eyes sparkled with mischief as she gazed at the messy room without any guilt.
"You...!" Chu Zui's worry instantly turned into raging anger, her feet quickly rushed forward, and she picked up Xiao Le Xing who was still smiling happily, flipping her entire small body over. Her white and delicate hands, which were slightly rough from doing chores, slapped Xiao Le Xing's buttocks: "Who told you to mess around with things? How can you be so naughty! You scared Mom to death, do you know that?! I'm going to spank you, spank you, you naughty little girl——"
"Hmm..." Xiao Xi was startled, and when she was hit, she didn't cry, but instead turned her head with a confused expression towards Chu Zui, whose eyes were wide open. She thought it was strange that her butt didn't hurt! So she slightly pouted and held out the half-eaten chocolate bar in front of Chu Zui: "Mommy, want some?"
Chu Zui saw that the child was fine, and put down a worried heart. Although she was angry, she couldn't bear to hit her. Suddenly, she was "bought off" by the chocolate bar in front of her, and with a seemingly satisfied expression, she tossed Xiao Le Xin onto the middle of the bed, letting her roll over to one side on her own. The little girl giggled stealthily, looking rather disheveled. Chu Zui sat down at the edge of the bed, gazing at the messy room with a sigh.
"Chu Yue Xi, just this once, don't think it's a precedent." Regardless of whether she could understand or not, Chu Zui turned around and glared at him with an unpleasant expression.
"Yes! Mommy!" Xiao Le Xi suddenly stood up straight on the bed, his little belly sticking out, raised his left hand with five fingers together and stuck it to his forehead, imitating the police uncle on TV.
Chu Zui let out a snort of laughter, raised her hand to ruffle the chubby face of Xiao Xin, who was compared to a wax pencil, and then began cleaning up the house. This was clearly a massive undertaking, as the house had been ravaged by Chu Le Xing's classmate for several hours, and it would be impossible to clean up without spending at least that long. Because that girl could even dig out the corpses of ants in the corners and ask with a curious face: Mommy, what kind of animal is this?
Before falling asleep, she opened the drawer and took out the documents inside. Underneath the file bag, an old photo slipped to the ground.
Dazed and stunned, she stared at the photo on the ground for a long time, then slowly knelt down to the ground.
A sunny and young couple in a photo, wearing clean high school uniforms, leaning against each other, smiling warmly with happiness like spring breeze.
He Yancen...
We loved for seven years, but these seven years ultimately lost to those three years of coldness as ice and lonely silence.
Three years have passed, and I've cried enough to last a lifetime. My tears have long since dried up, leaving only silence and a distant gaze that lasts an eternity. There's a memory buried deep within me, one that no one can excavate, one that no one can enter.
The back of the photo is what she wrote on the plane to Britain three years ago.
People are heartbroken, not because love has ended, but because when everything is over, love remains.
