Chapter 4: A Narrow Escape
These past two or three days, I've been going to work as usual, and everything has seemed ordinary, but in the air, there's something extraordinary floating around that can't be explained.
"Director Chu, this report must be submitted to the finance department as soon as possible. You also need to attend the surveillance meeting this afternoon in person. All department managers have already started preparing. As the administrative department manager, you should know what to say at the meeting this afternoon."
Chu Zui took the report from his hand, nodded silently, holding a cup of milk in one hand and carefully reading the contents of the report with the other. He turned around and left the deputy general manager's office, went to the first floor lobby to hand over some materials, and then prepared to take the elevator.
She was startled by the whispers and faint screams behind her, turned around to see several female employees rushing past her and hastily entering the elevator. She was stunned for a moment, then came back to herself, only to remember that she needed to go in. Just as she stepped forward, she saw that the elevator was packed with people, all staring at the number 10.
"Let me in." Seeing that it was not overloaded, Chu Zui carefully squeezed into the elevator. She needed to go to the 14th floor finance department. With difficulty, she raised her hand among the crowd and pressed the button for 14 just as the elevator stopped on the 10th floor.
Then...
It was predictable that she would be the last one to squeeze in, and in an instant, she was squeezed out of the elevator by a swarm of women, almost falling over.
Chu Zui busily raised her hand to lean against the wall on one side, staring at the group of female employees who rushed out of the elevator with a look of horror, feeling inexplicably strange in her heart. It wasn't until she caught a glimpse of those women quietly running to the outside of the general manager's office that she rolled her eyes violently and turned into the elevator.
At this moment, there are tens of thousands of grass mud horses galloping in her heart, yelling out these women's dog blood and madness.
Yes, that's right. Today is the day when the legendary CEO He returns to the company, but it's just past 9 o'clock in the morning. That CEO He who was described by Lin Lin as a god-like figure shouldn't be coming this early, should he?
"Ding——" The elevator stopped on the 14th floor, Chu Zui took a deep breath and was about to step out when a figure suddenly flashed before her eyes. In an instant, her feet froze in place, her eyes staring blankly at a corner of the air, even her breathing almost came to a halt.
She pressed the button, and as the door opened again, she rushed out, standing in the bright and clean corridor on the 14th floor, hastily and anxiously searching around, but there was no longer any sign of that person.
Did she see it wrong?
That familiar feeling that can't be more familiar, how could it be wrong?
"Chu Jie, what's wrong?" At noon, in the company canteen, Lin Lin frowned and stared at Chu Zui, who had eaten a mouthful of rice and was now staring blankly with her chopsticks suspended in mid-air. She quickly raised her hand and waved it back and forth in front of Chu Zui's eyes.
"Aren't you feeling unwell? You've been distracted all day. Do you want to take a leave and go home to rest?"
"No need, I have a meeting this afternoon, I'm fine, hurry up and eat your meal, don't mind me." Chu Zui lowered his head and ate two mouthfuls of rice, but it was somewhat tasteless.
She didn't know if it was because her life after returning home was too monotonous or too idle, so she had nothing better to do than think wildly.
In the late afternoon, after the meeting, Chu Zui left work an hour early due to physical discomfort.
As soon as she walked out of the Shang's office building, she saw a strange white JAGUAR parked not far away, and as she approached, the window rolled down slowly.
