Chapter 179 Hive-Womb Capital

Jon found himself relishing in the destruction wrought by his Fragment Of Eradication. Observing the billowing pillars of thulian-coloured flame, alongside the crackling presence of chaotic spear natured spiritual energy. With just a single ability, albeit one that required twenty-five percent of his maximum spear natured spiritual energy, he had managed to blow a hole in the side of the Hive-Womb Capital.

More than fifty metres in diameter.

His Minerva-Infiltration Eyes excelled in the penetration of imaginary mental constructs, although did enhance his vision beyond the limits of his mortality. Despite the flames and lightning-shaped spiritual energy, he was able to see the dozens of layers within the Memento Source Item, alongside the countless corpses of Mortal-level and Knight-level larvae.

Maggot-looking bees squirmed as they crawled about the roiling flames. While beetles and termites skittered over each other, clawing at the wax walls of the hive trying to form new tunnels to escape the heat.

Lingering instances of [Extinction Spear Curse], [Vajra-Spear Curse] and [Spear Paradox Curse] continued to propagate throughout the defenceless population of the Hive-Womb Capital. Locusts and hornets shrivelled up as spear mana coursed through their uninitiated minds, wreaking havoc throughout their flesh and spirit.

Standing atop Song Lian Yu, Jon nodded his head almost imperceptibly, glancing down towards Miyoung and Long Shen Xi.

“We’ll continue to launch ranged attacks from each side of the hive. Exposing more entrances will allow Maliq and the others on board the Piercing-Void Ship to-.”

  Jon felt his eyes widen.

  [Bestial Intuition].

His Minerva-Infiltration Eyes glancing downwards, towards the unfathomable number of approaching insects. After enhancing his Fragment Of Intuition using a Fragment Of Beast, Jon found his senses growing significantly more acute, more precise, and even more uncontrollable than before.

His sense of scent improved to such a degree that allowed him to discern individuals up to thirty metres away just based on their smell alone.

His sense of taste had developed to catch flavours and tangs that he had never imagined existed.

His sense of hearing had elevated beyond anything he could have ever imagined. Allowing him to hear the sound of unobscured heartbeats over fifty metres away.

His sense of touch had transformed the sensitivity of his skin and flesh, both for better and for worse.

It was one of the abilities he possessed whose mastery over dropped significantly upon elevating to Knighthood. Jon had to spend almost two weeks in near solitude in order to adjust [Bestial Intuition] so as to filter out unwanted conversations and unneeded sensations.

His Sea Of Knowledge assisting in the process immensely, organizing this newfound influx of information. Sensory data was stored within the depths of his Sea Of Tehom, between the Sea of Guf and Sea Of Hadal.

“Jon…” The sound of Song Lian Yu’s voice whispering to him in the back of his mind.

“I know,” he replied, gazing down towards the Sunless Cloudlight Obscurity beneath them. The humming of bees and hornets growing stronger and stronger by the minute, the clicking of cicadas and locusts accompanying them close behind.

His eye-mutation glancing in the direction of the Hive-Womb Capital, noticing dozens of Knight-level swift-wing dragonflies and Knight-level hungry-mouth ants appearing across the surface of the Memento Source Item. Each one of them turning towards him, screeching before taking to the skies.

A growing number of insects began circulating around the dozen-or-so dragons that orbited the Hive-Womb Capital, their hundreds, if not thousands of compound eyes observing the one Titled; Princeps Of The Wandering Mutation. Their mouths dripping with acidic saliva and their expanded abdomens churning with potent venom and half-developed larvae.

Through their monstrous visages, Jon and Miyoung both could feel the eyes of a powerful existence behind these innumerable flesh constructs. Potent concepts flowing through specific insects amongst the crowd, transforming their Mortal-level flesh into that of a Knight, before being pushed even further towards-.

“Jon watch out!” Miyoung shouted, watching as an impossibly fast hornet slashed through the air. The sheer-size and physical capabilities of which almost exceeded that of her [Half-Dragon Transformation; Azure-Scaled Tyrant].

The man in question appearing unfazed at the approaching thread, manifesting the Spear Of Cedarwood Transformations in his free hand. His mouth muttering the word “extend,” watching as Assail started stretching beyond its natural length.

The hornet that launching itself towards him impaling itself upon the length of the spear, piercing straight through its brain and out the other side. Jon muttering another instance of “shrink,” allowing Assail to compress itself back down to its original size.

Tilting his head to the side and allowing the corpse of the Lord-level flesh construct to harmlessly pass by him, expressions still obscured beneath his Heretical Chalk Protection. Despite the powerful physical capabilities of the Lord-level constructs, their minds and spirits were still woefully underdeveloped, their minds focused on fulling but a singular defined command, regardless of what damage or injury their bodies sustained.

‘Their numbers are many and appearances intimidating but function the same as Wilheim’s constructed golems.’ Jon thought to himself.

His gaze shifting towards Miyoung, still atop the back of Long Shen Xi.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

“Think you can keep all of them off me while I focus on the hive?” He asked.

Miyoung feeling her illusory-draconic horn twitch at the sudden question, before nodding resolutely without a single iota of hesitation in her eyes.

“I can!” She replied, watching as Jon nodded in response to her words. Her [Azure Dragon Of Subjugation] manifested from a Fragment Of Superbia surging with a domineering presence that seemed to cause the dragons around her to tremble.

Her grip over the Seven-Stringed Reignbow tightened, her fingers strumming a discordant melody across the Memento Source Item. Music natured spiritual energy manifested in the form of arrows, launching themselves in every direction imaginable and towards approaching insects.

Jon, who was in the middle of chanting his frozen end art almost wanted to pause and observe her movements, seeing dozens of Knight-level insects killed within the span of half of minute. Arrows of music piercing through their eyes and mouths, striking vital points with absolute precision.

Without true minds to help them consider even the possibility of dodging and devoid of spiritual energy that could manifest shield constructs, these insects were mindless cannon fodder unless controlled directly by the Voracious Swarm Mother.

Despite their being no rhyme or reason to the structure of her song, more than a dozen arrows shaped from music natured spiritual energy launched outwards, flying outwards in a spiral pattern from the Graceful Dragon Of Treasured Beauty.

Before each striking a nearby Knight-level insect, piercing straight through their eyes and destroying the brain within.

An unpleasant-sounding melody filled the skies above Springtown.

Bringing nothing but arrows and death.

From within the Hive-Womb Capital, the High Priestess Of The Swarm observed the movements and abilities of these two “humans.” Watching their reaction speeds, spiritual energy expenditures, integrated fragments, and combat styles with narrowed eyes.

Swarm natured spiritual energy flowing through the Hive-Womb Capital so as to control the flow of flying insects into dozens of smaller streams. Larger insects, such as dragonflies and locusts placed at the front, whose size was able to protect the more vulnerable insects behind them.

Miyoung found it significantly more difficult to target groups of insects when their vital points were defended using their fellow insects as shields. The young woman letting out a small tsk as her fingers gently plucked her Memento Source Item, manifesting an innumerable number of arrow-shaped constructs.

Some of them striking chitinous flesh and hard exoskeleton, producing even more discordant sounds.

Several other dragons watched as the Archon Of Reigning Dragons released a symphony of destructive arrows. The changes in the movements of the insect swarm was obvious and the Hive-Womb Capital producing more and more Knight-level constructs with each passing moment.

‘Should I use my own Fragment Of Eradication? No. It lacks the expanded area of effect that Fragments Of Annihilation and Fragments Of Extinction possess. And Jon might be caught in the crossfire as well…’

Long Shen Xi growing closer towards Song Lian Yu at her summoners behest, allowing Miyoung to stand within five metres of Jon, furrowing her brows as she felt the remaining spiritual energy contained within her Seven-Stringed Reignbow.

‘Lenecia is still a Mortal Ranked Memento Source Item! It lacks the spiritual energy reserves for extended battles or against numerous enemies! All I can do now is…’

Miyoung narrowed her eyes, before circulating mana throughout her strength spiritual vein and dragon spiritual vein. Overloading effects of her Fragment Of Draconic-Metamorphosis, the illusory-draconic horn on her head grew several inches in height, enhancing her physical capabilities to the nth degree.

In addition to several of her other abilities.

  [Strength Art; Wind-Tracing Steps].

[With Thou In Hand, Strength Shall Overcome Death].

[With Thou In Hand, Arrows Shall Pierce The Stars].

  [Exaltation Of The Prideful Moon].

[Mirroring Beauty Art; Ravishing Mimic Reflection].

  [Piercing Dragon Art; Thunderous-Spiritual Arrow].

Miyoung allowing both her Archetype Wrathful-Id and Archetype Piercing-Ego to appear on either side of her. The two incarnation-type abilities manifesting as half-translucent reflections of their original caster, both wielding incomplete copies of the Seven-Stringed Reignbow in their hands.

The effects of her mirroring beauty art also manifesting another copy of herself. This one, both tangible and devoid of the ghostly appearance that her two incarnations possessed.

[Exaltation Of The Prideful Moon] manifested from a Fragment Of Hunt saturated Lenecia with bow natured spiritual energy. Pulling back on the strings of the Memento Source Item, while muttering the chant to manifest a thunderous-spiritual arrow.

An enormous, two-metre-long arrow forged from dragon natured spiritual energy started form across its length, Miyoung gritting her teeth as she channelled more and more mana into each of her abilities.

[Predator Spell Eyes] overloaded to the point where the individual wingbeats of each Knight-level insect was visible, slowing down the world around her to a near-halt.

The Princeps Of The Wandering Mutation watched as Miyoung lifted Lenecia in one hand, aiming the Seven-Stringed Reignbow straight up into the air. Her arms growing taut as she pulled back its strings beyond what should have been possible for a bow, forming an ellipsoid with how far she had pulled it back.

Her mirroring beauty art mimicking each of her actions, manifesting their own thunderous-spiritual arrow, aiming directly upwards.

Miyoung and her reflection both releasing the thunderous-spiritual arrows in perfect unison, allowing them to shoot straight upwards, seemingly towards the lightless skies. Minerva-Infiltration Eyes observing the shooting arrows of draconic-lightning, seeing them extend higher and higher before-.

“Fragment Of Lightning… and a Fragment Of Arrow?” Jon muttered to himself.

The moment that the two thunderous-spiritual arrows reached their absolute zenith, did the arrow-shaped constructs come to a complete and utter halt. Their electric-forms shifting, coiling around themselves before transforming into two draconic-looking mouths, maws wide and containing a chaotic mana.

Dragon natured spiritual energy overflowing from the two thunderous-spiritual arrows, before releasing the stored mana in the form of a-.

  ‘Draconic breath?’

Miyoung and her mirroring beauty art replicating the action, opening their mouths, and producing an endless wave of draconian lightning. A vibrant sea of azure-coloured electricity filled the skies around Jon and Song Lian Yu, coursing through an innumerable number of insects.

The scent of burnt flesh and ozone filled the air, as dozens upon dozens of Knight-level insects died in an instant. Draconic-lightning chaining from one body to the next, burning nerve endings and crippling membranous wings.

Those Knight-level insects that survived the attack found themselves unable to support their own flight given their half-crippled wings. Their mouths releasing high-pitched squeals as their bodies slowly started to descend further and further into the Sunless Cloudlight Obscurity.

Some killed by passing summoned companions.

While others crashing into the Safe Zone below, killed at the exact moment of impact. Flesh and viscera splattering across the earth, ruining the once pristine streets of Springtown.

Colourful splashes of azure lightning flickered all around Jon, almost inflicting him with debilitating effects. His Hades-Draconian Shadow retreating back under his feet in the fact of all this light, while his Carcosa-Form Horrors continued to maintain the connection between himself and Miyoung.

A smile appearing across his face.

Hand extended in the direction of the Hive-Womb Capital.

‘See how you enjoy this one.’
