Chapter 180 Freefall

  [Fragment Of Annihilation]

[Frozen End Art; Ice Mountain Annihilation, White Sea Cataclysm]

(Ice, Annihilation, Spell, Technique, Ability, Curse, Debuff)

  (Cataclysm)

Effect (Knight): The [Frozen End Art; Ice Mountain Annihilation, White Sea Cataclysm] affects a much wider area continues to spread after the point of impact and deals increased damage to all within its radius. Enemies struck with [Frozen End Art; Ice Mountain Annihilation, White Sea Cataclysm] are now also inflicted with an instance of [Ice Mountain Curse] and [White Sea Curse].

The [Frozen End Art; Ice Mountain Annihilation, White Sea Cataclysm] will engrave concepts of “ice,” “cold,” and “cataclysm” into the space around the point of impact.

[Ice Mountain Curse]: Reduces resistances towards ice-related damages, afflictions, and debuffs. Additional stacks have an additive effect.

[White Sea Curse]: Inflicts a continuous ice-natured damage over time effect. Ice natured spiritual energy flows into imaginary mental constructs, encroaching upon their transient nature. Additional stacks have an additive effect.

With the temporary enhancement granted to him through his Abundant-Heart Glyph, Jon’s Ice Mana Core experienced a fifty-percent increase to its maximum reserves of ice natured spiritual energy. Pushing it well beyond the standards of an average Knight.

The sheer amount of mana that he allowed to flow from his Ice Mana Core into his Fragment Of Annihilation was beyond anything that he had willingly channelled before. His fight against the Lava-Mountain Golem was the last time that he had used his frozen end art and used the equivalent of twenty-five percent of his maximum reserves of ice natured spiritual energy.

Against the Hive-Womb Capital, Jon had used twice that amount.

An enormous spherical construct of chaotic ice natured spiritual energy gathered in the space in front of him. Wisps of frigid air swirled around him, gathering in the form of snowflakes and frozen water vapour.

Despite his inherent resistance towards ice-related damages, afflictions, and debuffs, Jon felt his extended fingers grow numb; skin bleached white as though all the blood within his hand had frozen solid beneath his flesh. His shallow breath that escaped his lips released a stream of warm air that was swiftly engulfed by the inordinate chaotic mass of mana that manifested in front of him.

A spherical construct, filled to the brim with concepts such as “ice,” “cold,” “annihilation,” “cataclysm,” and “death.” The echoes of music natured spiritual energy behind him, alongside the occasional eruption of strength natured or dragon natured spiritual energy reassured Jon that he was within capable hands.

The focus of his attention placed solely on the outrageously large Memento Source Item floating opposite him. Still burning with thulian-coloured flames and crackling with violent spear natured spiritual energy. His grasp over the frozen end art almost slipping for a moment before Jon hurled his Spell effect towards the Hive Womb Capital.

Song Lian Yu and Long Shen Xi shifting their positions further along the orbit of the Hive-Womb Capital, avoiding dozens of strikes from nearby Knight-level insects. Miyoung watching from the corner of her eye as Jon’s Spell effect flew straight towards the floating hive.

Her breath hitched waiting for the promised annihilation that his frozen end art would bring before-.

One of the Lord-level insects that the Voracious Swarm Mother had constructed flew straight into the chaotic sphere of spiritual energy. Causing its effects to activate early, filling the skies above Springtown with an eruption of ice and snow.

It was as though an iceberg had formed itself in the air. A growing, disordered construct of piercing icicles and bone-chilling snow. Despite being formed from nothing but spiritual energy, the Spell effect still possessed a tangible physical structure causing the iceberg to start falling the moment it had struck the Lord-level insect.

Jon and Miyoung both feeling their eyes widen, watching as the fifty-metre tall iceberg started crashing down towards the Safe Zone below.

“Miyoung!” Jon shouted not bothering to gesture to the problem at hand.

The Archon Of Reigning Dragons merely nodding her head in response.

The woman in question pulling back the strings of her Seven-Stringed Reignbow, activating her own Fragment Of Eradication in response to their sudden predicament. Enhanced through the integration of a Fragment Of Boundless, Miyoung scrunched up her face in concentration, allowing an arrow-shaped construct to form along Lenecia.

Containing within it a powerful amalgamation of bow natured spiritual energy, she gritted her teeth, releasing the manifested construct.

[Imperial Bow Art; Divine Bow Rapture].

Accompanied by the melodic sounds of a harp, her imperial bow art pierced through the chaos and disorder of the swarm around them, shooting through the air at speeds that exceeded that of bullet in motion. In the blink of an eye the Fragment Of Eradication reached the mammoth-iceberg that Jon had inadvertently manifested, crashing into it and exploding with a violent amount of bow mana.

The ice construct erupted, into tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of smaller ice shards. Some so tiny their appearance could be mistaken for a snowflake, while others large enough to crush an uninitiated mortal.

Miyoung scrambling to play another discordant melody across the strings of the Seven-Stringed Reignbow, manifesting dozens of harmonic arrows to strike these larger pieces. Her Fragment Of Piercing-Iris magnifying her vision to the nth degree, allowing her to perceive objects even from hundreds of metres away.

Her fingers continuing to strum again and again against Lenecia, ignoring her dwindling reserves of music natured spiritual energy. Arrows flying out in dozens of different angles, most striking shards of ice that threatened the denizens of Springtown below while others aimed at various approaching insects.

Her gaze moving away from Jon and Song Lian Yu, who instead opted to approach the Hive-Womb Capital. The Princeps Of The Wandering Mutation gritting his teeth, feeling a good portion of his ice natured spiritual energy wasted.

‘I currently possess a one-hundred and fifty-percent maximum capacity for my Ice Mana Core with my Abundant-Heart Glyph. A third of which is now gone thanks to that! If I want to bring this fucking thing down then I cannot afford to waste any more spiritual energy!’

From the back of the Threaded-Heart Of Terminus Est, Jon soared higher and higher, allowing the various Knight-level dragons around to tighten their formation around him. Song Lian Yu through the effects of his [Threaded End] Aura was capable of inflicting instances of [Draconic Est] and [Woven Terminus] on those that strayed too close to him, enveloping their minds and spirits with damaging thread-shaped afflictions.

The Severing-Shieldheart Dragon enveloping them within his Spell effects, manifesting shield-type constructs that were able to shred the flesh of those who dared to approach.

The Flashing Dragon Of Four-Winds continuing to launch razor-sharp waves of colourless winds towards them. As the fastest dragon amongst them, her speed and offensive power exceeded that of the vast majority of Knight-level insects.

And the Poisonous-Heart Of Draconic Sin enveloping nearby insects within his own [Poisonous Sin] Aura. Able to inflict instances of [Draconian Sloth] and [Draconian Gluttony] on those able to resist the previous, synergising his Aura ability with Song Lian Yu in order to focus their effects of specific targets.

The remaining dragon-type summoned companions accompanying Miyoung as she rushed to rectify the raining ice shards that started falling over Springtown. Several other summoned companions pushing through the Sunless Cloudlight Obscurity in order to assist her.

Jon on the other hand, just gritted his teeth, standing atop his epoch-heart dragon, once again muttering the chant for his Fragment Of Eradication. His thoughts conveyed to Song Lian Yu through his Fragment Of Dragon, urging him and the others to soar higher and higher into the air.

The four dragons pushing their Knight-level bodies to their absolute limits, ignoring the spiritual energy expenditure it costed their summoners. If it could allow the Princeps Of The Wandering Mutation to succeed then-.

Then each one of them would gladly give up their lives.

“Princeps!” The Flashing Dragon Of Four-Winds shouted, prompting Jon to turn his head towards him, continuing to gather chaotic ice natured spiritual energy in the palm of his hand. The gale-chasing dragon overflowing with an abundance of wind mana, saturating each of her four wings with an incredible amount of spiritual energy.

“Allow me to carve you a path!”

Jon’s eyes widening almost imperceptibly, before nodding, remembering the name of her summoner.

“Mal’kil could not possess a more exemplary summoned companion!” He replied, watching as the Flashing Dragon Of Four-Winds grinned before shooting forth, rushing ahead of himself and Song Lian Yu. Her wings slashing pale-green trails through the sky, launching dozens upon dozens of spiritual slashes in every direction imaginable.

The gale-chasing dragon launched herself forwards at speeds that Song Lian Yu envied. Her ability to change direction without loss of momentum or control was something that he missed immensely, although not something he was willing to spend a fragment on.

Jagged-pale green lines carved through dozens of Knight-level insects within a matter of moments, cleaving flesh from bone and piercing through hardened, chitinous, exoskeleton. The corners of her mouth widened, allowing Ambrosia to relish in this feeling of strength that blossomed within her heart.

“I am the Flashing Dragon Of Four Winds! I am the Verdant Gale That Accompanies The Sun! I am the Dragon Of Wind And Truth!”

“What Voracious Swarm Mother!? What Sixth-Honoured Knight!? From this day until the end of my days, I will always continue to be a dragon!”

Ambrosia ignored the feeling of a Lord-level ravenous-thorn hornet pierce into her side. Her draconic maw widening around the head of the beast and crushing it in a single decisive chomp. Acidic blood filling her mouth, causing her to bellow a deep and painfilled roar.

Another Lord-level thousand-poison bee piercing into one of her wings, filling her vision with more than half-a-dozen different debuffs and afflictions.

Two of her remaining wings producing several wind blades in just a single motion. Ending the life of the flesh construct in one fell swoop. One of her arms torn off at the shoulder by a Knight-level titanic-strength termite, while several Knight-level wasps and ants crawled along the length of her spine, gluttonously consuming her scales and flesh.

Ambrosia screamed in pain, causing Jon and Song Lian Yu to wince but never to turn back.

The Severing-Shieldheart Dragon and Poisonous-Heart Of Draconic Sin doing the same, continuing to press further forward towards the Hive-Womb Capital. The sound of their companions screams filled the skies above Springtown, turned into nothing but biomass within the span of a single minute.

The Flashing Dragon Of Four-Winds vanishing into motes of wind natured spiritual energy shortly after. Her sacrifice was not for nought, allowing the Threaded-Heart Of Terminus Est to get close enough to the Hive-Womb Capital.

Close enough for Jon to hurl the Spear Of Cedarwood Transformations into the side of the Memento Source Item, burying the summoned weapon several feet into the side of the floating hive construct.

Jon gritting his teeth before leaping from the back of the epoch-heart dragon.

‘More than enough time to finish casting!’

His thoughts coming to a halt as his feet crashed against the side of the Hive-Womb Capital. His form skidding alongside the length of its wax-like external layer, one free hand extended outwards, catching himself upon Assail. Pierced into the side of the Memento Source Item, it allowed Jon something to hold onto, half of his focus still placed on the Spell effect in his free hand.

Looking deep into one of the hexagonal-entrances to the floating hive, Jon flashed his teeth at the Voracious Swarm Mother within before hurling his frozen end art inside.

[Frozen End Art; Ice Mountain Annihilation, White Sea Cataclysm].

His feet kicking off the Hive-Womb Capital, sending him into a free fall as a chaotic eruption of spiritual energy spilled out from above him.
