Chapter 27
A few days had passed since the meeting was over and the leaders of the Commonwealth Worlds had left Valhalla.
“You ready to go,” said Amos.
“All packed up and ready to go,” said Reva.
Amos, Freyr and Reva made their way to the Skidbladnir, at the same port they had started out in the first place. “I”m going to miss this place,” said Freyr, as he took one last look at the glorious city that stood before him.
Valhalla had grown much in the months since the Asgard had been there. Its once colorful and vivid Lantean architecture had been tempered by the addition of drab and ashen Asgard infrastructure now spread throughout the old city. When word went out that the Asgard had acquired a city of the Ancients, thousands of bold Asgardians ventured to Valhalla and made the city their home. Now round grey zeppelins, strange antennae, peculiar ship yards, even oddly shaped space stations and orbitals designed solely for Asgard use litter the planet. It had become like a home to him, now it was time for Freyr and his comrades to leave the Asgard safe haven of Valhalla for the unsafe Goa’uld infested worlds of the Milky Way.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
“Course set. Engines are go. All systems are nominal. We are ready for take off,” stated Reva as she thumbed through the Skidbladnir’s internal systems.
Amos was back in the Captain’s chair and could feel the urge for adventure coursing through him. He hadn’t been back in the Milky Way for so long – two and a half months to be exact. The Milky Way he would be returning to would be substantially different than the Milky Way from the future. In his time, there were no more Goa’uld. The galaxy was holistically boring. SGC military personnel begged to be shipped off to Pegasus, for action and a chance to kill Wraith. The only suspense in the Milky Way was the Lucian Alliance. No, the Milky Way Amos Fyree would be returning to wouldn’t be boring, and as a member of SG-1 himself, he would finally get to do battle with his team member’s ancestral nemesis: The Goa’uld.
“Take us out!” ordered Amos.
