Chapter 25: Injury

“No way…” Seeing ten Wind Blades coming her way, Isla was caught off guard.

The situation of the workers wasn’t any better either. No one saw the ambush of Storm-thorns coming, and many were hit by Wind Blades.

  “Ahhh!!!”

  “Motherfuckers!!!”

  “God damn it!!”

Screams rang out as the Wind Blades pierced through the flesh of the workers.

While the workers were screaming behind him, Kenji couldn’t hear anything.

His mind was busy processing the limb it had just lost.

In a daze, Kenji kept staring at his chopped-off arm lying on the ground.

“Kenji, are you listening?” Seeing that Kenji wasn’t moving, Jin pulled him behind the carcass of the Stormsteed he had been carrying.

“This isn’t enough.” Seeing Kenji taking up so much space, Jin started worrying about incoming Wind Blades.

“This will do.” Risking his hand, Jin dragged the monster carcasses Kenji had dropped closer.

The barrage of Wind Blades lasted a full two minutes before Isla finally got rid of all the Storm-thorns.

“Kenji, Kenji… He lost too much blood.” Jin tried stopping the bleeding, but the blood kept gushing out.

“Oh my God!” Isla was caught off guard by the sight of Kenji’s severed arm and the blood pouring out of his shoulder.

“Miss, do you have a healing potion?” Jin asked, clearly worried about Kenji’s life.

“Healing potion? Right… right, here.” Isla pulled out a Grade 1 healing potion hidden in her clothes and handed it to Jin.

Taking the potion, Jin hurriedly forced it down Kenji’s throat.

As the potion entered Kenji’s body, it began working its wonders. As if it had a mind of its own, the potion’s energy rushed toward Kenji’s shoulder and stopped the bleeding.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Half a minute later, the blood finally stopped, and Jin sighed in relief.

“I think I’m going to puke.”

“Not something I wanted to see.”

“The kid got it pretty bad.”

Soon, the rest of the workers gathered around Kenji to get a better look at his injuries.

Since all of them had E-rank Body Strengthening Gifts, they were mostly fine, aside from some deep flesh wounds.

“Guys, a little help here. I think I’m bleeding too much.”

“Me too, a lot of blood got into my eye.”

Moments later, some of the workers with deep wounds started calling out for help.

“I will drop him at the clinic.” Jin said after picking up Kenji along with his severed arm. He then headed straight toward the city at full speed.

He knew that the quicker he reached the city, the higher the chance Kenji had of recovering his lost limb.

“Jin, wait… Now who is going to do the bandaging?” One of the workers called out, but it was already too late. Jin wasn’t willing to listen.

“I will do it.” Aside from Jin, none of the workers had any basic medical knowledge. Thus, Isla herself stepped forward to help.

“He… ngh… ah… ngh… ah… need… ah… ngh… help.” By the time Jin arrived at the clinic, he was drenched in sweat and struggling to breathe.

“I got it, don’t worry.” Using her Soul power, the Fairy took Kenji and his severed arm away.

“Is he… ah… ngh… going to be fine?” Finally catching his breath, Jin asked the Fairy.

“Don’t worry, his arm is still fine. Just some flesh is missing, nothing else. In a few hours, he will be, as you humans say, ‘as good as new’.” After taking a look at the human body, the Fairy replied calmly.

“Good.” Hearing that Kenji was going to be fine, Jin felt both happy and relieved.

If Kenji had become disabled at such a young age, Jin would have always blamed himself.

Jin was that kind of person—he couldn’t watch others suffer under his watch.

“Interesting, an Innate Body in the making.” While scanning Kenji’s body with his Soul, the Fairy doctor noticed something unusual.

The Source Ki of the human before him seemed to be weaving some kind of Innate Body using Innate Essence it had obtained from who knows where.

After the initial surprise, the Fairy doctor cleaned the nerves of both the severed arm and the shoulder using his Soul Power.

Once the cleaning was done, the Fairy doctor began stitching the severed arm back into place using a special thread.

Moments later, the arm was back in place, and the Fairy doctor started using Healing Touch, sparing Kenji months of recovery.

Ten minutes later, the thread holding the severed arm in place vanished.

“Good work, Timwa. At the pace you’re going, it won’t be long before you become a Grade 4 Doctor.”

The old Fairy who had been monitoring the entire process commented as Timwa finished.

“It’s all thanks to your teachings, Teacher.” Although Fairy Timwa’s voice sounded calm, deep down he was extremely happy to hear those words.

Soon after, Kenji was shifted to the recovery room, and another patient was brought in.

“Where…am I?” Waking up, Kenji found the layout of the room familiar.

  “The…recovery room? Don’t… tell..”

All of a sudden, everything came rushing back.

  The workers’ screams.

  The incoming Wind Blades.

And how Jin had saved him.

  “Right… my arm.”

Looking at his arm, which appeared no different from before, Kenji felt his heart sink.

He knew he was about to fall into massive debt.

After spending half an hour in the recovery room, Kenji made his way to the front desk.

“Kenji, right? Let’s see. Your total bill comes to 12 gold coins.” The Fairy spoke after calculating the cost of all the medical procedures.

“12… gold coins…” Even though Kenji had prepared himself for a huge bill, the words still hit him like a storm.

“It seems you already have an ongoing payment plan. Would you like to add this to your tab?”

While going through Kenji’s profile, the Fairy noticed that he already had an installment plan at Fairy Timwa’s younger brother’s clinic.

“Yes… please do that.” Coming back to his senses, Kenji replied sheepishly.

Receiving the response, the Fairy immediately added 12 gold coins to Kenji’s account as debt, bringing the total to 14.2 gold coins.

“Here. Have a good day.” Handing over the receipt, the Fairy spoke politely.

“That was exhausting. I don’t know how I’ll manage at the forge.” Entering the clinic, the first thing Cass did was complain.
