Chapter 42: Iron Bisons

Body Refining is a long and lengthy process. Just getting one’s body from Mortal to Bronze can take six months to a year, depending on the amount of resources used.

A Body Refining Pill can help a typical person refine the mortal body by one percent.

However, as more and more pills are consumed, the body forms a tolerance, leading to an increasingly large consumption of resources.

But the way Kenji described it, he seemed able to extract the essence of the Body Refining Pills. Unlike others, who simply swallow the pill and let the body digest it slowly.

“It seems I have to do a little research.” After the initial shock faded, Mary became excited, as searching for answers was her passion.

Leaving Mary at the [Hunters School], Kenji entered a pill shop and bought a bottle of Body Refining Pills along with a bottle of Food Pills, draining all his savings.

Returning to his room, Kenji excitedly locked the door and began refining his body.

Kenji didn’t sleep a wink and used up all the Body Refining Pills, strengthening his body even further.

“No time to…sleep, I need to earn…money for the…pills.” After finishing the last pill, Kenji felt sleepy.

But he washed his face to get rid of the drowsiness. Then popped a Food Pill and left the room.

Arriving at the city gate, Kenji met up with Muhammed and Duy.

  “Should…we head out?” Kenji asked.

“Before that, look at this.” Muhammed showed Kenji a poster.

On the paper was an image of a rabbit, and below it were written in tiny words, ‘1 gold coin per kilogram.’

“Is it…true?” Looking at the horn on top of the rabbit’s forehead, Kenji could tell it was a Wind Rabbit.

“Yes, I asked around. Every Fairy seems to be buying it.”

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

Hearing this, Kenji fell into deep thought. He knew Wind Rabbits sold for a lot, but one gold coin per kilogram was far beyond his expectations.

“Just imagine, if we hunted ten of them.” Duy drew a massive pie for Kenji.

“Then…let’s go.” Duy’s words ignited a fire deep within Kenji. He wanted to kill so many Wind Rabbits that he could fill an entire room with Body Refining Pills.

With excitement, the trio headed straight for the Evergreen Forest.

Arriving at the Wind Rabbits’ territory, the trio spotted a lone Wind Rabbit.

“Let me…try.” Kenji headed toward it, trying to catch it.

However, the moment the rabbit heard human footsteps approaching, it fled. Since Body Refining Pills were on the line, how could Kenji let it get away?

Using [Flash], Kenji appeared in front and reached out his hands to grab the Wind Rabbit.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t so easy. With its naturally gifted reflexes, it effortlessly dodged Kenji’s hands and ran for its burrow.

“I almost…had it.” Looking at the empty air in his hands, Kenji thought to himself. So, without waiting, he chased after the Wind Rabbit.

But the Wind Rabbit was always able to slip away from his hands. Before long, the Wind Rabbit entered its burrow, and there was nothing Kenji could do to force it out.

“Why don’t we work together?” Muhammed suggested, seeing Kenji staring at his hands.

“O…okay.” Agreeing to work together, the trio headed a little deeper into the Wind Rabbits’ territory.

It wasn’t long before they spotted another lone Wind Rabbit munching on grass.

“Let’s encircle it from all directions.” Nodding, Kenji agreed with Muhammed and started walking toward the Wind Rabbit silently.

However, with its massive ears, the Wind Rabbit could easily hear the sound of them approaching.

Thus, it stopped munching on the grass and glared at the three humans who weren’t that far away.

Scanning the humans, the Wind Rabbit did not feel any malicious intent. So, it went back to enjoying its sweet grass.

Feeling that the cat was already in the bag, the trio jumped at the Wind Rabbit at the same time. However, relying on its natural instincts, the Wind Rabbit jumped into the air and landed on Duy’s head before sprinting for its burrow.

“A…after him.” Getting up, Kenji used [Flash] to chase after the Wind Rabbit.

Meanwhile, Muhammed acted smart and didn’t chase the Wind Rabbit, instead heading for its burrow.

When the Wind Rabbit found that it had no way of returning to its burrow, its eyes turned fiery red, and it launched a wind blade three times its size at Muhammed.

With such an attack coming his way, Muhammed had no other choice but to jump sideways to dodge, which was exactly what the Wind Rabbit needed to enter its burrow.

After the second failed attempt, the trio spent the rest of the day chasing after Wind Rabbits. Unfortunately, much less catch one, they weren’t even able to touch their fur.

Disheartened, the trio headed back to the city empty-handed.

“Now I know why they say hunting Wind Rabbits isn’t easy.”

“We should have just gone looking for Iron Bison, this was such a bad idea.” Muhammed blamed himself when he saw that Kenji remained silent the whole way back to the city.

But Kenji didn’t acknowledge Muhammed’s words. Instead, he kept thinking about his soft bed.

When Kenji didn’t reply, Muhammed signaled Duy, as Kenji was the one with the highest combat power, and without him they could barely hunt monsters.

“Kenji, we should go for Iron Bisons tomorrow, right?” Knowing what Muhammed meant, Duy asked Kenji.

  “Sure…” Kenji replied absentmindedly.

After the trio parted ways, Kenji headed straight for the housing complex. Chasing Wind Rabbits for an entire day had taken a toll on him, and he could hardly muster the energy to do anything.

Even walking back home felt like a burden.

Returning to his room, Kenji stopped supplying his body with Ki and instantly collapsed onto the bed, drifting into sleep.

  [Ancient Calendar: 11 Mar 0001]

After a night of good sleep, Kenji woke up energetic the next day. Grabbing his gear and popping a food pill, he headed toward the city gate.

Meeting up with Muhammed and Duy, the trio headed for the Iron Bison territory.

“What should we do?” Hiding behind a rock, Muhammed asked Kenji.

Before them was a herd of Iron Bisons. Unlike wild boars, Iron Bisons were extremely aggressive creatures. Just a slight bit of carelessness could cause the entire herd to charge at them.
