“Graaa, human, I have come to kill you.” The Kobold spoke in a perfect human tone, causing a massive jolt to run through Kenji’s spine.
With each word Kobold spoke, Kenji became increasingly terrified.
“Y-you… you can talk?” Kenji’s voice cracked, and his body began trembling slightly.
After all, standing before him wasn’t any ordinary Kobold, it had reached Level 4.
When monsters reach Level 4, they undergo a qualitative change and become Elite Monsters. Not only do they awaken their innate talents, but their intelligence also increases by a lot.
Because of their increased intelligence and innate talents, no single human has ever come out alive after confronting an Elite Monster.
Even parties perish when they encounter Elite Monsters, and now Kenji was standing before two such beasts. How could he not tremble with fear?
“Graa, get it over with.” Listening to his companion, the Kobold warriors walked toward the human while licking their tongues.
Although human meat wasn’t special, Ascension Credit was. They had been stuck in this cave for a while now, and only after a week would they be able to leave this forsaken place.
“Graaa?” Just as the Kobold Warrior was a few steps away from the human, the human moved faster, jumping in a strange manner.
Forcing himself to stop trembling, Kenji used [Flash] and got away from the Kobold Warrior.
But it wasn’t long before the Kobold Warrior reacted and chased after Kenji.
“Graaa, human, no need to run. I will be quick, you wouldn’t feel a thing,” the Kobold Warrior called out while chasing him.
Ignoring the Kobold Warrior behind him, Kenji focused most of the Ki into his legs, which caused his speed to increase.
As the human ran faster, the Kobold Warrior also picked up his pace, but the human kept accelerating.
“Graaaa, little help!” Sensing that the human might slip away, the Kobold Warrior called out to his brethren. The barrier wasn’t far now.

The other Kobold Warrior possessed a speed-related innate talent. Activating it, he appeared in front of Kenji in the blink of an eye.
“Wha….” The sudden appearance startled Kenji, nearly causing him to fall. But regaining his composure, he used [Flash] to slip past the Kobold.
“No, no, no. Don’t let him… get away!” the Kobold Warrior shouted, however it was too late. The human had crossed the barrier.
Hearing his companion’s warning, the Kobold with the speed talent activated his ability once more to chase after the human. Unfortunately, after a few steps, he slammed straight into an invisible wall.
“Graaa! Why didn’t you tell me we were this close to the barrier?” the speed-type Kobold roared, lashing out at his brethren.
Now he would have to endure an earful from the Priest.
“I didn’t get the chance, graaa!” the other Kobold argued back.
“Aren’t they… coming after me?”
About a hundred meters beyond the barrier, Kenji found that no Level 4 Kobold was pursuing him.
Looking back, he saw one of the Kobolds repeatedly banging its head against an invisible wall.
Soon, an argument broke out between them before they finally turned and left.
Seeing all this, Kenji was certain that there was something stopping those Elite Monsters from leaving and coming after him.
Knowing that, Kenji calmed down and decided not to come back to this place until he was strong enough to kill Elite Monsters.
It wasn’t long before Muhammed and Duy returned and found Kenji lost in deep thought.
“What’s wrong?” Duy asked, sensing that something was off.
“There are… Elite Monsters… in there. I barely got… away. I am not… coming back here… tomorrow.” Handing Duy his sword back, Kenji spoke in a low voice.
“Elite Monsters?! Are you sure?”
The moment the words Elite Monsters were spoken, both of them were shocked.
“Yes, and there… are more than… one.” Kenji’s words hit them like a hammer.
“No wonder they say, never get near the village.”
“We need to get out of here fast.”
Unlike Duy, who was focused on the rumors surrounding the Kobold Village, Muhammed was thinking straight as he spoke in a panicked voice.
“G… good idea.” Kenji didn’t bother telling them about the invisible wall that had stopped the Elite Kobolds mid-chase. He himself wasn’t sure what that was.
Picking up whatever carcasses they could, the trio left the Kobold cave for good.
After getting rid of the carcasses, Kenji, Muhammed, and Duy made plans for tomorrow before heading their separate ways.
Leaving the city gate behind, Kenji headed toward the Fairy Market.
He needed the Body Refining Pills. Just one bottle increased his strength so much. What will be the effects when he reaches Bronze rank?
So, not emptying all his savings to buy as many Body Refining Pills as he could afford would be anything but foolish.
“Go see Mary.”
The moment he entered the Fairy Market, an urge surged within him. Without stopping at the alchemy shop to purchase Body Refining Pills, Kenji hurried straight toward the Library.
By the time he arrived, Mary had just walked out.
Seeing the woman of his dreams, Kenji once again slipped into a daze.
“Kenji? Is that you? Look at how much you’ve changed.” Stepping out of the Library, Mary noticed someone staring at her. At first, she thought he was here for Gift consultation, but after taking a closer look, she realized it was Kenji.
“Let me see.”
Now that she was sure it was him, Mary reached out and began examining his newly formed muscles.
“I knew Body Refining Pills worked wonders, but that’s after at least five or six bottles. Ten pills aren’t enough for this kind of transformation. Be honest with me… how many bottles did you buy?”
Mary asked with certainty. To her knowledge, a single bottle of Body Refining Pills couldn’t refine the body to this extent.
From what she could tell, Kenji had already completed nearly thirty percent of the Bronze Body
.
“Just the one you gave me. It took me a whole night to finish those pills.” Kenji then began describing the entire process.
How he extracted the essence of the Body Refining Pills and continuously circulated it throughout his body.
The more Mary listened, the more shocked she became.
What Kenji described wasn’t normal.
It contradicted everything she had learned from the books.
