Chapter 64: Clearing Territory 2

Getting the supplies, Zhen and the others returned to the place where they encountered the first pack of Howlers today.

“So handy.” Seeing the Howlers' carcasses getting sucked into the storage bag, Zhen was amazed.

A single storage bag can indeed save a lot of money and time.

“Let's see, the area next to us is unclearned.” After putting the Howler carcasses in the storage bag, Zhen took out the map that the Cross Party had given.

The map had some pretty useful functions. Not only did it show their current location, but also the location of Howler packs nearby.

After clearing an area, the map will automatically mark it on all other maps, so that parties don't waste time searching for Howlers in an already cleared area.

Following the map, Kenji and the others arrived at the area which wasn't cleared.

“This way.” Instead of searching for Howlers, Zhen used his gift and in a second got the general direction of the pack.

After a few minutes of running through the dense forest, Kenji and the others spotted a Howler pack.

Before the Howlers could have time to react, Zhen, Anon, and Kenji pounced on them like hungry wolves.

Zhen, with his incredible speed, dodged attacks from the Howlers, making it hardly possible for them to even touch his hair.

Anon, with his almost indestructible body, charged at the Howlers without a care in the world.

Kenji just pointed his finger at the head of a Howler, and then, with a red ray of light, the target was dead.

Taking a few seconds to concentrate Ki again, Kenji fired another [Beam].

As for Joon's arrows, no Howlers were able to defend. In just four minutes, the whole pack was dead.

Putting the carcasses in the bag, Zhen and the others headed for the next area.

The killing spree continued, and the sky started turning dark.

“Let's head back.” Since the night was approaching, Zhen decided to head back to the gathering spot.

  “Look, it's the newcomers.”

“Come, come, we still have some meat left.”

By the time they arrived at the gathering spot, many parties were busy preparing food.

Although the Cross Party handed everyone a bottle of food pills, who can go without tasting delicious food?

“Join them, I will be right back.” Leaving Kenji, Anon, and Joon to mingle with the other parties, Zhen went to report his party's kill count.

Today they killed a total of 219 Howlers, an astonishing number.

“You hunted a lot.” The person responsible for counting the merit was somewhat surprised.

To his knowledge, Zhen's Crew was a relatively new party. Hunting a little more than 50 Howlers should have been their limit.

But surprisingly, they killed more than 200 Howlers, the same amount as some of the Level 2 parties.

While Zhen was busy reading today's battle report, Kenji and the others had a hearty meal with the members of other parties before putting up their tents to sleep.

“Aren't you going to sleep?” the person on night duty asked, as he saw Kenji pointing his fingers at the nearby tree for quite some time.

“I will… after the… practice.” Answering the man, Kenji returned to practising [Beam].

Currently, he is trying to figure out whether or not he could concentrate Ki at two different points simultaneously.

After three hours of practice, Kenji entered his party tent and went to sleep.

  [Ancient Calendar: 2 April 0001]

The next day, Kenji had breakfast provided by the Cross Party before heading out with everyone to hunt.

  Things went smoothly as always.

Entering the uncleared area, Zhen would easily find the location of the pack, and they would easily kill all the Howlers before moving on to the next area.

“This is getting annoying.” Anon complained as he killed the last Storm-thorn.

Since this morning, they have encountered many Storm-thorn attacks.

“How did they even get here?” Joon asked.

Storm-thorns are only active to the north of the city, but currently they are in the south, with tens of kilometers of distance between them and the Storm-thorns' usual native region.

But today they encountered more than 5 surprise attacks by Storm-thorns.

“Let's return, we can find something at the camp.” The sun was about to set, and Zhen didn't want to risk facing a Storm-thorn surprise attack in the dark.

Today they had hunted a total of 193 Howlers, much less than yesterday, all thanks to the constant harassment of Storm-thorns.

“Newbies, did you also encounter Storm-thorns?” Just as Zhen and the others arrived at the camp, one of the party leaders asked.

  “Yes, around 5 times.”

“See, I told you. Only your party was lucky enough to not encounter any Storm-thorn attacks. The rest of us all did.” Getting the answer, the party leader turned to the only party that wasn't bombarded by wind blades.

“They were just Storm-thorns, what's there to worry about?” The party leader couldn't figure out why others had such a reaction to some Storm-thorns.

His party always encounters them while hunting.

“What do you mean nothing to worry about? We were just walking, and then out of nowhere, sharp wind blades were launched at us. Even a member of my party was badly hurt.” One of the party leaders complained.

“At least your party wasn't attacked while fighting Howlers. I almost lost a member because of those grassy bastards.” Another complained with a sore face.

Today his party wasted 2 healing potions, and one of his members had to go to the clinic.

While the other parties had gathered at the camp to discuss tomorrow's hunting plan, the Cross, Aqua, and Blade parties had just finished today's hunt.

Ever since the news of them hunting Elite Howlers reached the Territory Boss, he ordered all the Elite Howlers to move in large packs and run the moment the situation seemed unfavorable.

So, for today they have only been able to hunt just 14 Elite Howlers combined.

“Why do they always run away?”

“This is why I said clearing the territory of Elite Monsters would be difficult. I still think we should invite a few more parties.”

“Instead of inviting other parties and splitting the spoils, I think it's better if we invest in a binding treasure.”

Just as the leaders of the Cross and Blade parties were about to get into a heated argument, the leader of the Aqua party intervened.

“A binding treasure? It could work, we only need to stop them from running.” Thus, the three leaders of the most powerful parties in Aqua City headed toward the Sky Treasure House.
