Chapter 50: Treasure Chest 2

A few minutes later, they came face to face with a Grey Hound covered in wounds, with its aura quite weak.

“Kenji, be careful. It’s from the middle layer. So, it will probably have [Iron Body].” Seeing the wounds on the Grey Hound’s body, Zhen instantly realized that they weren’t facing a normal Grey Hound.

During the Monster Tide, monsters are able to use Ascend Credit to level up and acquire new talents.

After becoming stronger, monsters challenge other monsters for a bigger and better territory.

If the challenger loses, he would wander aimlessly without a home, but if the challenged party loses, he would take the winner’s old territory.

This is an iron-clawed rule amongst the monsters.

Seeing the humans, the Grey Hound’s hazy eyes became sharp, and [Wild Power] instantly surrounded his body.

“Woof!!!” Letting out a loud howl, the Grey Hound instantly charged at the closest human.

“This…” In the blink of an eye, the Grey Hound appeared before Zhen and attacked him with his sharp claws.

The fast speed of the Grey Hound caught Zhen off guard, and he could only dodge using [Skip].

“He was a movement talent!” Zhen screamed to warn Kenji when he saw that the Grey Hound didn’t chase after him.

But it was too late; the Grey Hound had already caught up to Kenji and brought his neck forward to bite.

Just as the Grey Hound was about to get him, Kenji used [Flash] to get away and then attacked by launching two [Ki Blades] one after another.

“Good job!” By the time Zhen blinked his eyes a few times, the Grey Hound’s lifeless body was already on the ground.

A Grey Hound with [Iron Body] is hard to kill, but the moment [Wild Power] runs out, it can be killed.

But a Grey Hound with a Movement talent is almost impossible to kill. Not only can it attack before the hunters have a chance to react, but if it decides to run away, no one can stop it.

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

But now Kenji has killed one without much effort; how could Zhen not praise him?

“Huh…huh…huh.” Although to kill the Grey Hound, Kenji didn’t do too much fighting, those few intense seconds put him under a lot of pressure.

“Kenji, focus on recovering.” Seeing Kenji’s situation, Zhen knew that he must have overexerted himself and his body was trying to adjust.

Leaving Kenji behind, Zhen started looking for a Treasure Chest with Anon and Joon.

“Found one!!” Around half an hour later, Anon’s excited voice rang out.

Excitedly, Joon, Kenji, and Zhen hurried over.

“Let me see, let me see.” Rushing over, Zhen pushed Anon aside and looked at the shiny Silver chest.

“Zhen, should we open it or sell it?” Joon asked.

Before the first Monster Tide, everyone opened the treasure chest the moment they came across one.

However, after the Monster Tide, all the treasure chests respawn, and some cautious people began selling the closed chests, letting the brave ones try their luck.

Since it is human nature to desire quick success.

It wasn't long before people started trying their luck on treasure chests, and with each person who made a fortune, the demand for treasure chests kept increasing.

“Of course, open it.” Although selling Silver-rank Treasure Chests would get a lot of money, Zhen wanted to try his luck.

Only that way could he quickly gather money for the materials needed for the third Heavenly Trial.

The moment Zhen opened the chest, a bright light flashed before the item inside became visible.

  “Damn it!”

  “It's just a Grade 4 Healing Potion.”

Seeing the Healing Potion inside the treasure chest, both Anon and Joon were disappointed. Zhen didn't have a pleasant expression either.

“How much…does a Silver chest…sell for?” Kenji asked out of curiosity, which caused the expression on Zhen's face to worsen.

“Alright, let's get going. We have a lot to do today.” Zhen didn't let anyone answer Kenji's question and headed for the next Grey Hound.

Same as before, Kenji and Zhen killed the Grey Hound while the other two searched for the treasure chest.

At the end of the day, they had a total of 4 chests: 3 Bronze-Rank Treasure Chests and one Silver-Rank Treasure Chest.

“Let's sell the Bronze chests and open the Silver one.” Zhen suggested, to which Joon and Anon remained silent.

Kenji wanted to speak, but feeling the atmosphere, he remained silent.

Soon, Zhen opened the chest and a light flashed before the item inside became visible.

  “It's a Grade 4 broadsword.”

  “We are rich!”

Seeing the Grade 4 broadsword, both Anon and Joon celebrated excitedly.

“I knew it. Today was my lucky day.” Seeing the sword, even Zhen couldn't stop himself from celebrating.

After all, unlike the swords sold by Fairy's, it was what they got from a treasure chest, which instantly doubled its value.

“Don't drop it, and hurry up.” Handing the empty chest to Joon, Zhen gripped the broadsword tightly in his hands, and they hurried back to the city.

  [Ki: 792→822]

Today they didn't bother with the Grey Hound carcasses, as treasure chests were more important.

“How was it, did you find one?”

  “Nothing, what about you?”

“Me, I wish I looked everywhere, but aside from a group of Storm-thorns, I found nothing.”

As they arrived at the city, the commotion was too much.

The last time the Monster Tide ended, no one had any idea that treasure chests had respawned, so things continued as usual.

But as more and more people kept finding treasure chests in areas which were cleared clean, they knew something was wrong.

Paying a few gold coins at the Information Hall, many parties quickly learned that Treasure Chests respawn after every Monster Tide.

Before long, this news was leaked, and today almost every person who was brave enough left the city and went searching for treasure chests.

But hardly any person came across a treasure chest.

Almost all the chests were snatched away by big parties who had prepared beforehand.

“I can give you 12 gold coins for them.” Looking at the Bronze chests on the table, the man offered.

“Too low, you have been selling them for 6 gold coins, at least another 3 more coins.” Zhen wasn't pleased with the price that the chest-selling vendor offered.

“Look, son, if you don't agree with my offer, you can take your business elsewhere.” The man looked at Zhen with his deep hazy eyes and said slowly.

“Fine. Give me the money.” This was the third chest wonder that Zhen came to, and he didn't want to waste any more time.
