Chapter 51: Fortune

Getting the money, Zhen went to a Fairy stall to sell the broadsword.

“Well crafted, but the rune work is a bit clumsy. I can give you 700 gold coins for it.” The Fairy used his Soul Power to pick up the broadsword and check the rune engravings before offering a price.

Hearing the number that the Fairy offered, Zhen was overjoyed. Finally, he could buy all the materials needed for the D-rank gift that he had set his eyes on.

“The sword sold for 700 gold coins and chests for 12, so a total of 712 gold coins.” Returning, Zhen told Joon, Anon, and Kenji the good news.

  “So…many.”

“I can finally buy the rest of the materials.”

“I can now get that skill.”

Hearing that they got so much money, all three of them were overjoyed.

“Here,” Zhen handed over 178 gold coins to each one before asking, “Currently, I am a bit short on money for the materials I need. So, I was thinking of…?”

“Sure, how many do you need?”

“You never told us which gift you wanted.”

Before Zhen could finish, Joon and Anon asked.

They had asked around, and Silver chests were only selling for 90 gold coins. If Zhen hadn’t opened the chests, they wouldn’t have gotten so much money.

To close their mouths, Zhen opened the window of the gift he wanted to the public and let them see.

Seeing the vague description of the gift, they weren't surprised, as it was always like this.

“Did you consult someone?” Joon asked.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

“Do you think I would choose this gift without giving it any thought? As I was….” Zhen was annoyed, but he continued about his earlier plan.

“How many gold coins do you need?” Just as Zhen was about to speak, Anon asked.

During this whole time, Kenji remained silent; he still hadn't figured out what type of relationship they had.

Zhen is the leader, but both Anon and Joon don't like him much. However, they never question his decisions and always follow his lead.

Although Zhen treats them like his subordinates, he always splits the spoils fairly.

“Let me finish first!” Zhen was visibly angry; this was the second time he got interrupted. “I was saying, we should pool a portion of our earnings for the gifts. This way, we wouldn't have to constantly worry about saving money to buy materials for the trials, and everyone can get whatever gift they want.”

“You mean…like…how the…parties do it?” Hearing Zhen's suggestion, Kenji asked.

Parties are completely different from normal hunting teams, which are just friends who get together and enter the wild to hunt monsters.

To establish a party, one needs to reach Level 3 at the very least, and they have to register with the Party Hall.

Parties also enjoy a lot of benefits; not only do they get special discounts, but depending on their ranking, these parties also get rewards every month.

Because of these benefits, parties level up much faster than other people.

This is why joining a party can guarantee one's future, as no party wants their ranking to drop and will do everything to help their members level up.

To cover these expenses, all parties keep a major portion of their earnings as party funds, to buy potions, repair weapons and armour, while also helping party members to acquire gifts.

“Exactly like how parties do it.” The anger on Zhen's face instantly disappeared when he heard Kenji's words.

“Okay, how much do you think we should put in this ‘team’ fund?” Anon asked.

He wanted to use his newly acquired fortune to buy a [Skill Book] he really wanted, but it seemed it wouldn't be possible.

“Just 50 percent will do. We will also use it to buy healing potions and repair weapons.” Unlike how most parties put away 80 percent of their earnings for the party fund, Zhen wanted to leave some money for them to spend.

“...Fine.” Anon didn't want to agree, but seeing the ‘I dare you’ look on Zhen's face, he reluctantly agreed.

“Okay, but I want to be second on the list.” Joon wasn't against the idea of party funds, and he agreed without any hesitation.

Now it was Kenji's turn, who didn't know what to do.

He hadn't been with them long enough to decide whether or not he should put half his earnings in the so-called party fund.

“F…fine.” Under the trio's hard glare, Kenji ultimately gave in and handed half of his fortune to Zhen.

“Remember to get a call stone.” Before leaving, Anon reminded Kenji.

Leaving the city gate, Kenji headed for the nearest clinic. Even after handing over half of his fortune, he still had 89 gold coins, and he wanted to pay off his debt first.

“Are you looking for a patient?” As Kenji arrived at the front desk, the Fairy asked.

  “No, I want…to make a…payment.”

“Do you have the receipt?” At the Fairy's question, Kenji shook his head.

After all, he had no idea that today he was going to receive such a fortune, so how could he have that tiny receipt on him?

“Don't worry, place your hand here.” A circuit formed from various runes became visible on the desk.

The moment Kenji placed his hand on it, all his records became visible before the Fairy.

“It says here you have a negative balance of 14 gold and 2 silver coins. How much are you paying?” Checking the amount that Kenji owed, the Fairy spoke.

  “All of…it.”

After paying back his debt, Kenji left the clinic and made his way toward the Aqua Market.

Now that he had so much money, he wanted to buy a gift for Mary. While looking around, Kenji got distracted by the smell of food, and he ate as much as his heart desired.

“I've never seen anyone eat so much food in one sitting.” Seeing Kenji continue stuffing food into his mouth one after another, the passerby couldn't help but comment.

But Kenji, who had spent almost a whole week on food pills, his stomach was almost bottomless.

After filling his stomach, Kenji continued looking for a suitable gift for Mary. Just as the market was getting increasingly deserted, he found the perfect gift.

  “How much is it?”

“14 silver coins. It's an E-grade accessory with special effects.” The vendor tried explaining the high price.

The most dropped items from Bronze treasure chests are accessories; however, the stats of these accessories make them nothing more than showpieces.
