Chapter 0: Prologue and Reality
There was darkness for a second, until a child started to cry. “He” looked at the direction of the sound. A dark shadow shaped like a child was crying, its clothes or features were not visible. Only white glowing tears sliding down its cheeks. He looked away from the child and down at his hands, there was something that he was holding. There was hair, red liquid in his hands along with soft fleshy sensation-like skin and-
He woke up.
He let out a gasp of fear from his nightmare and placed a paw on his chest while trying to relax. He stood there for a few seconds. Darkness was surrounding him like a plague and there was a hard and dusty surface below him.
He looked forward and saw a light source straight up ahead. Curios, he crawled towards it. As he got closer, the light became brighter until it covered all his vision. His ears experience an ear ringing for the first time, or was it the first time? The area became clear, and the ear ringing had subsided. His eyes were itching as if he was asleep for decades. His eyes slowly got used to the bright light and he could see what was around.
A forest.
A vast terrain with trees and plants, logs with mold and fungus rooting off them. There were different kinds of plants rooting out of the face of the earth. Blue leafed with white outlines, yellow leafed with heart like shapes and tall green leaves with towering white flowers in the middle. There were a variety of flowers shaping the atmosphere into a utopia.
He crawled out of a hole in the ground, just below a tree.
He could hear weird high pitch sounds in the air, making different vibrations and rhythms. There were different kinds of flying things, yellowed, gray with blue outline, both skinny and fat, big and small chirping their way. There was the sound of water running somewhere, and crickets singing. He was amazed, seeing all these things for the first time and experiencing feelings.

He looked down at himself. He was wearing a white backpack with white futuristic like clothes, small pocket bags and black belts. He saw his paws for the first time. Soft white fur with gray, brown stains.
[What am I-]
He felt a sudden rush of nauseousness, his vision was shaking and his body leaned on the side, and fell with his face down and drilled his snout on the floor.
“Augh!”
[What is this feeling?! It hurts!]
He turned his body to the side and was now looking up. He couldn’t understand what this feeling was. It felt as if suddenly he was existing. As if what he was seeing wasn’t any sort of game or video but a reality. He could feel himself existing, see things through his eyes and feel the dusty ground on the ends of his fingers. There was nothing that could explain that feeling. An existing feeling of a horrible reality where everything is beautiful but there are things that hurt.
“Huff, HUFF!” his breathing became heavy, with his heart pumping fast as if trying to escape his chest.
“Chirp, chirp!” a brown bird flew across his field of view, snapping him out of his raw view of reality. He stood up and took his first steps. He started walking, sometimes crawling. But where could he go? What purpose did he have?
[Where… Where am I?] He glanced everywhere, sweat drooling down his cheek. He didn’t know what to do. [Who am I?]
He walked for hours, with a blank state in his mind. The only thing he could think of was the birds chirping, and his steps that gave sound to the crunchy leafy ground. He was walking for at least a mile or two, when a surprising thing happened. He was leaning on a tree, tired and sore. His legs were dragging him and it would hurt whenever he took a step. But the corner of his eye had caught something… From a far, about twenty seven feet ahead of him was a ‘thing’. A figure standing in the middle of the path.
It was another being. It looked similar to him but different. It was a tall being with big pointy ears and a body structure like his. Just standing there still, and quiet...
“ahh-”
He tried to catch his attention, but it didn’t seem to work. But there was something odd about that being. It was missing an ear, and its tail was torn off and pouring out blood. It was a brutal scene, but for some reason the creature did not care.
[what is that thing?]
He stood up slowly and quietly. Once up, he was struggling to keep balance, his back seemed to be heavy, and it was bothering him for some time. The would make clicking sounds whenever he moved.
[What is this?] He wondered. But he didn’t have time to open it, so he stepped back in hopes of-
| Crack! |
There was a loud cracking sound that echoed through the forest and came from below his feet. It got quiet. The leaves stopped swaying. The crickets stopped singing. The sound of birds chirping dissolved into the quietness of the forest.
And at that moment the monster’s body starts to shift towards him with a smile.
