Chapter 1: Malice
The monster turns around facing the being with the backpack. Its distorted features looked as if they were rotting, with maggots crawling over its decaying skin.
The monster locks his eyes on him and starts walking towards him with a threatening growl. He didn't have a choice but to get away. So he ran, or at least tried to run. His movements were like a knockoff replica of running. He was struggling to move, he had weight on him, he was sore, and he was not yet able to walk properly.
[Why does this hurt?]
“Raghhhhh!”
“Screeechhh!”
There were two horrible screams coming from different directions. The sounds of his steps and his backpack bouncing with its contents made a lot of noise and had attracted the attention of other monsters. He was running facing down and was too scared to look up at them, but below where he had been stepping on, felt different than before and looked different. He was not stepping on dirt terrain anymore but something smooth and straight with cracks. He looks up and sees a road. The pavement had a lot of cracks and weeds growing out of it. There were buildings that once were stores, left and right with broken glass and signs hanging.
[What is this place?]
He was looking at the place with bright eyes. He has never seen a place like this-

"REEEEEAAAAGHHHHHH-KKKRRRRSHHHH!"
His relief was crushed by a horrible bone crackling scream. There was something terribly wrong in the way it screamed, as though its voice had been twisted and broken beyond repair. The noise crackled and distorted, like a radio tuned to a dead station, leaving an eerie echo.
“Eeek!”
He couldn’t help but to make a scared girly voice. He looked back for a second, and he saw something that made him want to stop running and just get killed.
There were four of them. Four monsters chasing him with an intent to kill. He couldn’t run anymore. His legs were pressing on him as if they had kettlebells tied to it. He felt lightheaded for a second, but it was not the right time to be feeling that way. He fell forward and landed with a soft | Thump! |
He looked up in front of him, he felt a nice cool breeze on his face. And a terror expression formed as he looks at what is in front of him.
It was a cliff.
Just one more step and he would have seen his dismembered body on the ground, lifeless...
The fall was as deep as looking down from a five story building. There was just no way for a living being to survive a height like this. He gets on his knees and starts to crawl back, but the sound of monsters had told him that he was better off jumping.
“Screechhh!”
What could he do? He was just kneeling on the ground paralyzed by fear. Waiting, for all things to end. The Monsters approached him slowly, they were horrible beings, animals standing with two feet, foam poured out of their mouths. With clothes torned and rotting and had some bald spots on their fur as if they didn’t take care of it for decades.
One of the monsters was dragging itself towards him. Below its snout and lower body was torn off from all the dragging and he left a trail of blood.
He shivers at the horrible sight and backs down a little bit. There was nowhere to run, unless he jumped, but that would be straight suicide. There was no time to think, only hope for survival. He quickly faces the hill and gets up to jump-
| Crack | | BOOM! |
A loud sound soared the whole place and creating a loud echo.
The sound made him fall back. his heart was racing at what he was about to do.
| THUD! |
Looking back where the monsters were, one of them was on the ground with blood pouring out of its head.
He glanced at the direction where the sound came from and saw another being like him. He was laying down on top of a roof on one of the old buildings with a “Cat Café” sign. He had red fur outlines and was glaring at him from above. The red being was wearing a beige T-shirt, black pants, an old greenish jacket and a necklace.
The noise of his gun had attracted the attention of the monsters for a second. But they had already decided who they wanted to eat first. The fierce growling of the monsters approached the being with the backpack slowly.
The red being understood the situation and aimed his rifle towards him.
“ah…”
Those were his last words before a bullet went towards his head.
