Chapter 37- Darius Training

The first day of Darius' training was sparring, something Darius would be glad to do for all of his training.

But this sparring match with Jonah would be different.

The two started in a close position, foot to foot.

Before Darius knew it, Jonah was going in circles around him, landing blow after blow.

He was moving too fast for Darius to react, every blow was intentional and calculated despite the seemingly erratic speed.

Jonah then kicks him in the back, hard.

Darius then lands on his back, stunned by the sheer speed of his takedown.

While Darius recovers, Jonah gives an overview of the training.

"Over the next months, you and I will be sparring every single day."

"Your goal is to land a single blow with each of the weapons we train with."

"So get up, you have a lot to do still."

Three weeks later, after hitting his first blow in hand-to-hand, Darius now trains with a wooden staff against Jonah.

This time, Darius gets his first blow much easier.

He landed it on their twelfth match with the staffs, stomping Jonah's staff into the ground and landing a jab to the chest.

On the final day of training, Darius and Jonah have one last spar.

They start in the same position as their first, foot to foot.

This time, Jonah goes on the defensive, dodging attacks and getting small jabs in when he can.

Darius then fakes a huge punch, before dropping to the floor, ready to sweep Jonah's leg.

Jonah then jumps over the leg and backs up.

  Jonah chuckles.

"That one was pretty close, maybe I should stop playing."

Darius then gains a new sense of despair, realizing how large the gap between the two is.

Jonah them appears behind Darius, grabbing the back of his neck.

  "Dead."

Jonah then puts his fist against Darius' face before Darius can react.

  "Dead."

"I guess you still have more to learn."

Jonah then lands a huge straight-legged kick to the stomach.

Darius reals back before catching a heel to the side of his head, knocking him unconscious.

When he wakes up in the infirmary, it's the next day, when him and all of his friends are meant to meet in the courtyard.

As he wakes up fully, he then runs, full speed to the courtyard, probably far too early and fast for the severity of his injury.
