Chapter Nine: Family Lake Fun

"Meanwhile, with our Dragonborne family. Time, Noon. Location, Raphtalia's Vacation Home."

Raphtalia and Emerome woke up to the sound of Toanleri tapping on their window. "Mmm, needy girl. Let us sleep more." Raphtalia groggily opened her eyes as Emerome pushed her face further into Raptalia's breasts. Toanleri stopped tapping on the window, slapping the house with her tail. As the house shook with each tail slap, Raphtalia and Emerome got out of bed, covering themselves with covers.

"What do you want, girl?" Emerome opened the window. Toanleri licked the back of her hand, rubbing her face. "So, you want to be bathed?" Raphtalia placed a hand on her hip. Toanleri shook her head. "Swimming then?" Raphtalia turned to get the swimsuits. Toanleri chipped, pulling her head out of the window. "My love, why is my swimsuit just a frilly two-piece while yours is a bikini that barely covers you?" Emerome finished putting on her swimsuit. "Because I have more to show off. If I covered up, I wouldn't be giving my adorable wife some eye candy." Raphtalia picked up the bags of sweets.

Raphtalia and Emerome stepped out of the house to Toanleri, waiting for them, wagging her tail. "Come on, needy girl. Let's go swimming." Raphtalia scratched the underside of Toanleri's chin. Toanleri chirped, standing on her hind legs. Emerome watched as Toanleri waited for the two to take the lead. "Why is she waiting for us to go ahead of her, when yesterday, she grabbed me when I walked ahead of her?" Emerome whispered, "She can sense that you have no mana. So, she won't let you go ahead of her since she views you as having no way to defend yourself. However, usually only older dragons with proper training can do that. She's very, very smart. Even for the intelligent portion of dragons." Raphtalia walked ahead.

"Intelligent?" Emerome asked. "What we use to describe how the dragon operates. Intelligent means they have thought, can recognize anything a person can, can identify morals, can communicate, and can have a personality. Mindless means they only go off orders and instinct." Raphtalia answered. "What does communication mean for dragons?" Emerome tilted her head, "There are three types. Gestures, which are very common as each intelligent dragon goes through this before the other two. Vibrations, which the dragon releases noises at different pitches. Higher means it's important, lower means it isn't of current priority. If the dragon uses vibrations, they also use gestures to further communicate things that noises can't convey. Like what Toanleri did. Last is vocal, where the dragon can use words to communicate. Though most dragons can't use words due to either throat restrictions or a lack of training." Raphtalia explained.

"Do you think that Toanleri will be able to use words?" Emerome looked back at Toanleri. "If she keeps chirping, she might find out how to. As she's very vocal already." Raphtalia giggled. Toanleri chirped, looking around the forest. "Though I am a bit mad that you both found the meadow and lake I made here before I could show you." Raphtalia pouted, "I'm sorry, my love." Emerome bowed. "It's fine...I guess. Now we can go swimming there, and bathe the needy girl at anytime." Raphtalia sighed.

Once the three got to the lake, Toanleri instantly dove into the water, splashing around under the water's surface. "Did she only swim around under the water yesterday?" Raphtalia sat at the edge of the lake. "No, she'll rise to splash around. She also likes to swim with only her eyes and wings above the water." Emerome got into the water. Why does she like to swim like an alligator? Actually, I didn't see any gills on her, so she can't breathe under there. Raphtalia stared at the water. Toanleri shot up from the water, flapping her wings rapidly as she slammed her tail against the water's surface.

"I can see that she's trying to form words...did you do anything when she would do that?" Raphtalia got into the water. "Yeah, every time she jumped out like that, I would just say 'Roar', she'd then chirp before sinking back down." Emerome swam around Raphtalia. "So, if she figures out how to use words, her first words will be...roar." Raphtalia narrowed her eyes, "I..uh, I guess?" Emerome smiled nervously. Toanleri swam up to Emerome, chirping and whining as she nudged her. "Oh, I'm sorry, girl. I'll do it next time." Emerome patted Toanleri's forehead. Toanleri huffed, sinking back into the water.

"Such sass at only three days old. A needy, sassy brat of a girl." Raphtalia chuckled. Toanleri shot up from the water. "Roar," Emerome yelled as Toanleri flapped her wings rapidly while slamming her tail against the water's surface. "You feed into her attitude too much." Raphtalia side-eyed Emerome. "My love, do you think I would ever be able to use magic at a fraction like you can?" Emerome sank into the water. "Well, only if you had a magical artifact that would allow you to use magic. I could easily make one, but linking the artifact to use my mana constantly will be the tricky part." Raphtalia tapped her chin. "Then could you make one for me? With all of your magics?" Emerome asked.

"Well, the six natural magic attributes are the most common magics people know. Fire, earth, water, nature, wind, and thunder. But they have higher variations when you have magical aptitudes in multiple magics. Earth and fire make metal magic, earth and water make crystal magic, earth and nature make disaster magic, earth and wind make gravity magic, earth and thunder make chain magic. Fire and water make lava magic, fire and nature make explosive magic, fire and wind make dragon magic, fire and thunder make plasma magic. Thunder and wind make storm magic, thunder and nature make life magic, thunder and water make poison magic. Water and wind make ice magic, water and nature make fruit magic. While wind and nature make hive magic." Raphtalia explained.

"But there are more magics that are unknown because no one has more than two magic aptitudes. Those are dark magic and light magic. Dark and gravity make space magic. While light and ice make time magic. While dark and light magic make shadow magic. But those aren't the highest magics, as there are three magics of ultimate status. Arcana magic, which is a combination of wind, thunder, dark, and earth. Primordial magic, which is a combination of fire, water, nature, and light. And Origin magic, which is a combination of every magic." Raphtalia further explained.

"U-uh...uh-huh. But...how would I use all of them?" Emerome tilted her head, "I'll figure that part out when making it." Raphtalia booped Emerome's nose. I never even heard of wind magic till the magic aptitude test my love took. What are all of these other magics? Actually, that makes her bag in space explainable. Emerome floated by Raphtalia.
