Chapter 5

Keal walked back through the city with the street, the bag of mana stone clutched tightly in his hand. His mind churned with questions that he couldn't answer.

'That was really the boss if he was here. Could he be here too?. God damnit, why is this so complicated?'

Keal had a headache from all this thinking so he decided to stop as he went back to the teleporter station. He has to pay another 50 coins to go back which make him annoyed because he measly sat only with 50 coins he doesn't even know what those coins use for yet

Surely coins provide it from the system. Have more use than just currency right.

Keal shook head to forget about it before he paid his senior at the teleporter station since he was going to get another 100 coins later then he unlocked his third core. He then could just try to research what other uses those coins have.

  …

Back to his room, Keal locked the door before he looks around the room he notices Oilver not here yet. He remembers Oilver says the academy allowed students to use their own weapon or items as long as they make it so Oilver must be making his weapon.

Keal sat down crossing his legs on his bed. He pulled one mana stone from the bag before thinking. 'How the heck am I going to absorb this? Should I just put it next to me or something?? You know what fuck it.'

After a few seconds of thinking Keal decided to eat the mana stone as he shoveled the small stone into his mouth and swallowed it. 'Huh, this tastes better than I thought.'

Keal closes his eyes and begins to breathe, the same rhythm he used for six days to unlock his second core. But this time it is different instead of drawing the ambient mana from the air. He focuses on the mana stone inside his stone.

The moment Keal felt different before when he absorbed the mana from the air it was just like trying to scoop up water from his hand and drinking it but this time it felt like there was an entitled bottle to drink freely.

After a few seconds later the feeling was gone, Keal opened his eyes. The good news is he doesn't feel any pain or hurt from absorbing the mana stone.

And he could feel the dark purple light inside his inner pulsed it seems to want more eager and hunger for more. At one point Keal is a bit concerned about the nature of this third core. it seems to take more mana than the other two although this could mean it is a powerful ability considering how much mana it needs.

Keal then slammed down the rest of the mana stones inside the bags before he instantly regretted it as Keal felt the mana stones were thick, chaotic, laced with something sharp inside his stomach. Keal immediately uses ability healing making the pain go away.

'Well that was an experience.' Keal feels better as he continues to meditate.

After an hour passed as Keal finally finished absorbing the mana stone. He could feel the dark purple light already form into a core.

He summons his stats window and looks to see what it ability is. 'What the fuck is this?'

  …

The next morning the exam arrived.

All the first year students all gather up in the hall. Keal sat at the back with Oilver. Keal still is annoyed with the ability he got from last night.

The principal walks up to the stage and looks at the students, some of them have grumpy expressions. The principal amplified his voice by magic. "Welcome students to your first exam. I'm sure some of you must be complaining in your mind for having an exam immediately on what is supposed to be your first day at class. But don't worry the exam is short, it only lasts for 24 hours and there is no punishment for failing but there will be rewards for those with the highest points."

Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.

The students feel relief there is no punishment for failing and at the mention of rewards the students fill with excitement and determination.

The principal nodded to the changing mood of students before he continued. "Good, don't worry you all only teleport to a simulation so you will not be fighting real monsters. The exam is a survival test you don't need to fight although you could need the monster to gain points the academy will give you each a special bracelet it will track you and how many points you will get from killing the monster. The highest point will be rewards. Of course there is only one rule: you are not allowed to kill your other students but stealing your fellow students' bracelets is fine."

As the principal finished speaking, a group of the older students walked to the stage holding the box before the principal snapped his finger as a bunch of bracelets floating out the box flew to each one of the students who sat in the hall.

When Keal received his bracelets before he whispered to Oilver. "Hey Oilver is the the principal is one of your family member because what he did there is similar to telekinesis."

Oilver look at Keal in confusion. "What, no that just magic skill call telekinesis it different for mine because it fuel by mana while abilities only fuel like my telekinesis ability fuel by mental strength."

"Oh my bad, sorry." Keal thought a bit about the difference between skills and abilities because skills required mana while some abilities only require mental strength as fuel and unlike skill which needs time to cast but an ability is instantly used.

The principal cough to get the students attention back. "A little warning, those who lose their bracelet during the exam will be automatic fail the exam and teleport away form the exam. You could also give up by take off your bracelet and how many points you have will auto stay with you as your point. And of course if none of the students get any weapon you could take the academy weapon provided for you from the room in the left side while those students already get their own weapon. Please go to the room on the right side for the professor to confirm that your weapon is builded by you or it is safe for use. You all need 30 minutes to prepare before you get teleport away in a random place in the simulation."

After the principles are done speaking he goes back and sits in the back of the stage to meet other professors.

The students get up from their seats, some go to the room on the right while some go in the left.

Oilver stand up and look at Keal. "Anyway bro, I'm going to confirm my weapon and item to the professor. Good luck with your weapon choice."

Keal waved his hand to Oilver. "Thank you and good luck to you too."

Keal walked to the room on the left side before he was greeted by senior students."Hello Junior, are you here for a weapon."

Keal nodded before the older student said. "Okay just head inside just remember you are only allowed to have one weapon."

Keal thanked his senior before he went inside as he met a room filled with many different kinds of weapons: sword, spear, bow etc.

Keal grabs one of the swords before a blue screen window appears on him.

  [Name: common sword]

  [Rank: 0]

  [Stats]

  Attack: 8

Keal, surprised by the stats window, appears before he questions if this is his cheat before he looks around and all the other students seem to do the same as him. They pick up the weapon and seem to also stare at something.

Keal chuckled to himself softly. 'I guess it's not a cheat.' although this is good that the system could provide something like this.

Keal continues to walk through the room looking at the stat of the window try to find which one is the best. All the other students already turned to their seat.

The senior warned Keal. "Junior, please pick your weapon quickly. time almost up, you will soon."

Keal thanks his senior for the warning he can't help but worries that maybe the other students best weapons until he finds a wood looking staff.

  [Name: common magic staff]

  [Rank: 1]

  [Stats]

  Attack: 5

  [Skill]

  Magic missile (1)

Keal looks at the staff and can't help feeling excited and asks why don't other students pick this although it has an attack lower than a rank 0 common sword. It has a skill. Keal feels like the goddess of luck on his side. He picks the staff because no other students pick this staff.

The older student can't help raise his eyebrows at Keal pick of weapons. The senior students go and try to remind Keal but before he could warn Keal. A magic circle appears under Keal as he teleports away it

seems time as up the older student can only shake his head and wish his junior the best of luck.
