XXIX – The UN headquarters!

"Now that I think about it, why are there spectral wolves in human territory? These kinds of special species usually inhabit areas near goblin territory, don’t they? How did they get here…?" Rin murmured, frowning in clear confusion.

Beside her, Ye Lan took a deep breath, as though she wanted to say something but ultimately decided to stay quiet. If Rin knew that not only were there special species here but even demonic species, what kind of expression would she have?

Still, it was better not to complicate things. She had no intention of drawing unnecessary attention to herself. Her pne was simple, py the part of a quiet and unassuming tagalong. Even if she seemed capable, she understood all too well that provoking the hostility of these elves would result in her being turned into a pincushion of arrows in no time.

As they continued traveling, Ye Lan’s curiosity about the unique traits of other races began to grow. Beastkin excelled in physical combat, elves wielded unparalleled magic, but what set humans apart? Surely, they had something distinctive, right?

She tilted her head in thought for a moment before snapping her fingers in a small, triumphant gesture.

Of course! Humanity had technology! No matter how formidable the other races were, if humans possessed weapons on par with an atomic bomb, no one would dare act recklessly against them, right?

Ah-ha Ah-ha! Seems like there’s no need to worry too much about humanity’s survival. Ye Lan thought, smiling with satisfaction.

While she quietly mused over humanity’s strengths, the group continued their journey at remarkable speed.

Manhattan, New York—headquarters of the United Nations.

Because they had received a magically transmitted message from the elves, the leaders of various nations were already gathered at the UN headquarters, awaiting the arrival of the elven delegation.

"What do you think the purpose of this visit from the elves is? I don’t think it’s to start a war. According to public data, there’s no mention of any bad retions between us. Besides, they’re ranked seventh, so why would they be interested in invading us, ranked st? I doubt they’d do something so… boring" said the President of the United States, arms crossed as he spoke seriously.

"Bah, those elves! So incredible, right? Well, we humans aren’t so easy to crush. If things really get complicated, we’ll use our nuclear weapons. We could even bring down the gods if we had to!" he added aggressively, clenching his fists, his tone dismissive of the elves power.

The room fell silent as the leaders of other nations exchanged uneasy gnces. It was true, humans might be individually weaker than other races, but their nuclear arsenal gave them confidence, if it ever came to that.

"Let’s not rush to conclusions. Maybe they don’t have bad intentions. It’s possible they’re here to propose an alliance. Don’t you think?" suggested the leader of China calmly, resting his chin on his hands.

"Hmph! Leader of China, as much as I’d like to believe that, I doubt it will be that simple" replied another official, skepticism pin in his voice.

"That’s true" someone else added. "The elves are ranked seventh, while humans are dead st. The gap is enormous. If this is about forming an alliance, it’s hard to imagine we’ll get anything favorable out of it."

The room fell into a collective silence as most of those present shook their heads, unwilling to trust that the meeting would lead to a positive outcome. After all, a powerful and unfamiliar race, one that far outcssed humanity in nearly every way, except for their technology.

Anyone would feel uneasy when dealing with other races, thinking, 'Those of another race surely have different hearts'. Even within the UN, most nations tended to look down on any country that wasn’t their own.

At that moment, the doors of the UN headquarters burst open, and an employee rushed in.

"Gentlemen, the elves have arrived!""What? Already?!"

Startled, the leaders turned toward the windows to see what was happening outside. Above the street, the elves floated gracefully through the air.

Each one was dressed in emerald-green garments, radiating an extraordinary beauty and elegance. They moved slowly and with poise, while the passersby on the street stared in amazement and confusion.

"Th-those are the elves!""That’s flight magic! A high-level spell that only one in a thousand humans can learn... and all of them can use it! Incredible!""So what if they can use magic? We have technology!"

The murmurs of the crowd below reached the ears of the elves. Among the various remarks, one term stood out to Lian.

  Technology.

What is that? Lian wondered. A kind of weapon humans have developed? Something different from magic? Hmm… could it refer to what’s pointing at us right now? How interesting…

Lian gave a faint smile, and Ye Lan's body trembled slightly as she sensed an ominous aura.

The leaders of the nations, one by one, hurriedly descended from the building to observe the group of elves up close. Even though they had mentally prepared themselves, they couldn’t help but be impressed.

As leaders of their respective countries, their power levels weren’t particurly high, barely reaching level 20. Normally, a difference of fewer than ten levels was noticeable. However, the elves’ levels dispyed as question marks, signifying that every one of them was above level 30.

Not all of them, though, were inscrutable. At the center of the group, Ye Lan’s level 10 stood out conspicuously.

"Esteemed representatives of the elven race, why have you brought someone from the beastkin race with you? Do you perhaps hold a particur interest in humanity?" asked the President of the United States formally, his tone serious as he frowned slightly.

  Lian shrugged with a smile.

"You humans always overthink things. We elves are lovers of peace, a fact recognized by all the races within the ranking. This visit is solely to establish an alliance or engage in an exchange with you. However, it seems we aren’t very welcome here, are we?"

"Oh? And why would you say that?" replied the United States president, his expression growing even more serious.

Lian tilted her head slightly and raised her arm. Instantly, a golden magic circle materialized in the air.

"What advanced magic! It’s impossible to decipher!" excimed the leaders bodyguards as they quickly moved to shield them.

"We elves come with a peaceful attitude to communicate with you. So, why are you pointing those pieces of metal at us?" said Lian in a dangerously cold tone.

  [Metal Magic: Dominion]

As Lian’s magic circle emitted a dazzling ray of light, every metallic object in the area fell under her control. Those carrying concealed weapons discovered that, no matter how hard they tried, their triggers wouldn’t budge.

From the communication device in the United stat es president’s ear, armed voices began to pour in.

"It’s a disaster! Our nuclear weapons have suddenly stopped working, they can’t be activated!" "This is catastrophic! All advanced weapons in high-security storage are completely inoperable! It seems to be magic!"

These reports made the U.S. president break out in a cold sweat. At that moment, he fully grasped the enormi of the elves power.

With a single move, they had rendered the nation’s most advanced weapons useless. If Lian decided to use offensive magic, not even a superpower like the United States would st a single day.

The president swallowed hard, his unease mirrored on the faces of the other leaders. If they had known the elves were this formidable, they might have reconsidered attending. Now, even their personal safety seemed precarious.

"Rex" said Lian with a serene smile. "We elves are a peace-loving people. In our approximately one million years of history, we have never had an internal war. There is nothing to worry about"

As if suddenly remembering something, she continued calmly:

"Oh, I almost forgot to mention something. Before conducting any exchanges, both parties must be sincere with one another. Allow me to begin"

Lian took a deep breath and spoke.

"My name is Lian. I am the first princess of the elves. On this occasion, I have brought only 20 companions with me. As for my power level, it’s nothing impressive. I am still young, just 102 years old, and my level is only 69"

With that, Lian lifted her skirt slightly and bowed before everyone, dispying impeccable manners.

The humans present, including Ye Lan standing behind her, were completely frozen in pce.

  Level 69?

  Level 69?!LEVEL 69?!
